One side effect of the booming sneaker custom category is that the “wow” factor is fading away – despite how well-crafted the sneaker may be. This Vans Era “True Blue III” by JP Custom Kicks is definitely an eye-catcher in that most wouldn’t even think of embarking on a custom like this, but we’ve got to give him props for being creative. Using an all-white Vans Era Low Pro as the base, JP adds the signature elephant print with the true-blue treatment on the midsole and inner lining for that funky skate/Jordan connection bridged by this iconic shoe. More of this custom below, so take a look and let us know what you think.

Just another pair of the Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’? Look again. The sample shown is actually totally lacking in red of any sort, a copper color put in place on the tongue-area Jumpman, eyelets, and outsole to give them a Washington Wizards feel. Michael Jordan had the same PE during his days with said squad, this stray size being some sort of one-off created for a Jordan Brand employee who just wanted to be like Mike. Click through to check out the Air Jordan III in ‘True Blue’ colors with the copper touch and bid on this sample right now from dgoldmj2377z0 on eBay.

Flame thread inciter or incredible missed opportunity? We have a feeling this altered version of the beloved Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’ will end up on both ends of the spectrum, the sample shown being a riff on that classic look that was produced back in 2000. The tweak here comes on the elephant print sections, with each donning the namesake blue for a more thorough interpretation of the theme. Stay with us after the jump for a full look at this alternate Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’ pair and let us know in the comments if you think these would have gone down as a classic given a retail release.

Before you get your pitchforks out about the return of the Air Jordan Fusion line bear with us for a second. As you can probably tell these aren’t of the Air Jordan Force ilk proper, but rather a custom creation from one intrepid sneakerhead. As we all know the soles are often the first to go on a vintage pair of Air Jordans, so why not breathe some new life into them by outfitting the bottoms with another iconic style from the house that Knight built? Click through with us to the renovation (one that unfortunately includes chipping off the Jumpman from the back end) of an otherwise beat pair of the Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’ from about a decade back and let us know if you’ve ever tried your hand a similar restoration. Some mid-week NBA Feet goodness here, starting with a pair of Air Jordan IIIs – Paul George’s ‘True Blue’ and Shannon Brown’s ‘Black/Cement’. Other notables included Jordan Crawford’s Air Jordan V ‘Raging Bull’ aka ‘Greatest Non-OG Air Jordan‘, Demar DeRozan’s tonal-red Kobe VII iD, and Donte Green’s Nike Zoom Rookie LWP. The most interesting sneaker selection comes from Dwyane Wade, who once again wore the Jordan Fly Wade ‘Marquette’ PE; for someone with a signature shoe, he certainly shuffles his rotation around quite a bit! We’ve got a good look at the at some more selections below so take a look and let us know who rocked the best kicks. via espn

Sneaker News hasn’t seen the Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’ come up on our Celebrity Feet radar in 2012, but it makes sense that Jay-Z would be the one to show them off given his rapid revisiting of the ‘Blue’ theme (The Blueprint, Blue Ivy etc.) The sighting comes from a recent downtown trip in NY where Jay-Z showed up at Jacob & Co. in New York, perhaps to pick up a 4th anniversary for beautiful wife Beyonce. Hova has quite the smile in one of the photos you’ll see after the jump; is it because he nailed an effortless springtime fit rocking the True Blues with khaki denim and a blue linen buttondown? Let us know if Hova did it right with with these retros and click through for some extra shots. via YBF

During the late 1980′s, the footwear scene in two popular sports would change forever. The Air Jordan III was created by Tinker Hatfield, re-routing the Air Jordan legacy into the astounding heights it is currently floating around today, and inline skates began to be mass-manufactured, making the 2×2 roller-skate set-up an official ‘Retro’ and vintage item. This funky pair of Air Jordan III Rollerskates in the ‘True Blue’ colorway was recently ‘flossed’ on the internet by a stern-faced Russell Westbrook, who backed up his photo with a claim that his skating skills are up there with his rock-dishing ability. You might remember that OG pair of the Nike Killshot roller-skates we showed you on Sneaker News before, but you would you consider rocking Air Jordan Retro rollerskates to your local roller derby?

Wiz Khalifa continues his rise up the Sneaker News Celebrity Feet power rankings with yet another appearance in some Air Jordans, as he rocked the True Blue IIIs during a live performance at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA.
