AIR JORDAN III
The Air Jordan III released in 1988 during Michael Jordan’s fourth NBA season. It was designed by Nike footwear designer Tinker Hatfield and introduced elephant print and visible Air to the Air Jordan Legacy.

Fat Joe was recently crowned as one of the twenty-five greatest sneakerhead celebrities of all-time, but if that list had a hard ranking, there’s no question that Joe would be, at the very least, in the Top 5. Fat Joe’s been stashing kicks for years (some of you may remember his infamous sole-licking scene in MTV Cribs), and he recently decided to show off, through Twitter, some of his Air Jordans (as well as his rudimentary counting abilities). One pair of Air Jordan 1s, two pairs of IIs, three IIIs, a quartet of IVs, and a starting line-up of Vs make up fifteen total pairs in this small peek into his massive collection. Check out Fat Joe‘s Air Jordans after the jump and let us know which of the fifteen he posted you like best!

Nothing gets a man’s blood running quicker than a woman with nice pair of…sneakers. Well, everything great about women seem to come in pairs, and seeing a certified dime laced up in a sick pair of kicks is about the best thing a sneakerhead can ask for. Over the last decade, we’ve seen some memorable ‘chicks in kicks’ spreads, from Stacy Keibler’s photoshoot with SC to Kim Kardashian’s Skechers ad campaign, and all the other great projects in between (and how can you forget the Playboy x Air Jordan countdown from last year). Complex just compiled a list of the fifty hottest female sneaker photo shoots, so don’t forget to head to Complex for the full list after you check out a quick sampling below.

It’s no question that sneaker customs is one of the fasting growing sub-sectors of sneakers today, and accompanied by a rise in popularity is often a rise in frequency. The more well-known names like Mache, Revive, and Diversitile have already established themselves in sneaker proven grounds, but here we have a look at a familiary concept (originally born from the Air Jordan IV) of ‘Lightning’ striking the Air Jordan III, done by sneaker customizer Notti; it features the two-toned lightning yellow and black with the White/Black/Grey midsole left untouched, but does it capture the ‘Lightning’ we’ve come to know and love from the Air Jordan IV, or is it too similar to that Tokyo23 custom we showed you last August?? Check out the detailed gallery below and let us know what you think.

After Michael officially retired from the NBA, Jordan Brand creatively spun each passing year as a milestone of some sort. 2010, however, was truly a significant mile-marker for the brand, as it marked the 25th Anniversary of the debut of the original Air Jordan 1; to celebrate, Jordan Brand implemented the original White/Red/Black colorway of the Air Jordan 1 to every other Air Jordan that followed and dubbed it the ‘History Of Flight’. Here we have a detailed look at the Air Jordan III of that supreme collection; it features a tonal white leather upper sans-elephant print with the luxurious red weave interior and a solid red outsole, with the black laces adding a spin of contrast on the upper. We’ve got more visuals for you below so take a good look and stay tuned to Sneaker News as we feature more History Of Flight samples while you check out this listing from depeche23mode on eBay.

We just saw El Cappy’s take on applying the Air Jordan III’s ‘Black Cement’ colorway to the AJVI’s silhouette, so what would happen if you did the same thing to a shoe that only had the Six’ tongue? Sneaker customizer Sab-One turned his attention from the ever popular AJ6 to a model that uses its signature tongue in combination with a variety of other elements fromt the early Air Jordan Legacy to create the ‘Black Cement’ Jordan Spiz’ike. These came into existence when Sab copped the ‘Mars Blackmon’ Spizikes only to wear them once and return them to a near DS state. The relatively perfect condition made these a prime candidate for a colorway swap, and with Elephant print already on the toe and heel of these just like the Threes, the rest of the transition to a style like the one that took over last Black Friday was in the bag. Click through to see more angles on these, let us know how they compare to similar palette swaps on the ‘numbered’ Air Jordans and stick with Sneaker News for the best new custom kicks.

Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Jordan VI, but has anyone given this two-decade veteran more time and attention in recent months as the customizer known as El Cappy? Eric Lowry just showed us his latest design earlier this week, a Freddy Krueger-inspired Six that’s just the latest in a long line of custom jobs he’s applied to this handiwork-friendly silhouette. The latest is somewhat similar to a theme we saw Lowry employ about two months ago, but instead of the all-over Elephant print on his ‘Cement’ customs, this Air Jordan III-inspired design sees the Three’s signature element restricted to the AJVI’s unmistakably angular midsole tooling. He also crafted the eyelets to resemble the III’s reinforcements, and with black/cement Elephant print G-Shock alongside, could this custom package rival some of Jordan Brand’s top-tier output? And while the most obvious question would be whether these best IVII’s similar effort, but might they also be the best custom AJ6s we’ve ever seen? Let us know what you think when you click thorugh for more photos and stick with Sneaker News for all the best custom sneaker designs.

It’s always sad news when one of the greatest to ever play an professional sport hangs it up for good. Jason Taylor will be considered as one of the best to ever line-up on the edge, taking down QBs and stopping the run with ease throughout his career with the Dolphins, Redskins, and finally, and the Jets. During that season in New York, Jason sported these great Black/Green Air Jordan III PE Cleats, helping him achieve five sacks, two forced fumbles/recoveries, and twenty-five tackles in limited playing time. These are indeed game-worn (if you couldn’t tell), but still a nice collector’s piece for Jordan fanatics, Jason Taylor fans, or those who live the ‘Jet’ life. Check out the extra shots below and if you’re interested, head on over to the listing from j.o.sportsco on eBay.
