LeBron James was recently quoted as saying he’d love the chance to play for Cleveland(‘s fans) once again, and it looks like his hero Michael Jordan also has some interest in donning the Cavaliers’ colors. The above pictured Air Jordan 4 colorup doesn’t signify MJ’s third un-retirement, but rather a trip back to one of the early glimpses at his world-beating form courtesy of a 1989 flashbulb moment that still haunts the site of the Richfield Coliseum. It was at this arena halfway between Cleveland and LeBron’s hometown of Akron that His Airness elevated over Craig Ehlo in the closing seconds of the fifth and deciding game of the Eastern Conference Playoffs’ first round, a visual Gatorade recently remixed by asking ‘What if’ ‘The Shot’ had rimmed out. This Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ is a similar twist of the knife on history that’s every bit the ’89 OG in its own right as the recently released and hugely anticipated ‘White Cement’ Retro. They offer another chance to share one of Jordan’s great moments with the younger generation, and the GS sizes of this colorup look absolutely spot-on. Will this pair also prompt lineups around the country? Let us know your plans and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date. via TTB

Why the Cleveland Cavs? Lightly put, Michael, OWNED them. Ask Craig Ehlo, who still might be sitting on the Gund Arena floor doing ‘The Brady’. With the Air Jordan IV celebrating its Jordan-specific milestone year, Jordan Brand has looked back at some of Michael’s greatest hits (for the Cavs, those hits felt like haymakers), and looking back at that memorable video clip, it seems like the pause button was pressed when Michael floated in mid-air for what felt like…an inhuman amount of time. We’ve got some more detailed angles of the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ for you below, but if you’d rather see them on your feet, grab one of the available pairs now from jqtechdestination on eBay.

It’s a bit of an odd way to pay tribute, dedicating a colorway to a team whose hearts were collectively broken by Jordan styling on them in this same sneaker back in 1989. Still, it’s hard not to get excited about the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ given how infrequently the Air Jordan IV sees this colorful of a look. Of course it has its competition cut out for it, going up against other marquee names in the IV legacy like the White/Cement and ‘Fire Red’ versions set to drop in 2012. Will you be passing in favor of the OG colorways on their way or are you stoked on the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’? Let us know after you check out the huge set of detailed images we have of this upcoming release. Also check out the strange octagonal Jordan Brand box shown, but keep in mind this will indeed pop up in the OG styled packaging we’ve grown accustomed to over the last year. via HC

Jeremy Lin’s continued excellence has been perfectly timed with Carmelo Anthony currently out nursing an injury, both for the once struggling New York Knicks and Melo’s sneaker backers. Lin’s not a Jordan Brand athlete, but all the attention on the orange and blue (and black) means that this upcoming Air Jordan IV release is sure to get its fair share of ‘Linsanity’-laden references in the sneaker blogosphere. But despite Michael Jordan coming up in conversation this week as we’re reminded that he’s the most prolific scorer in the history of basketball at Madison Square Garden, a recent look-see event saw Jordan Brand unveil them with a more logical theme. The Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs‘ is a reminder that before Lin sent Floyd Mayweather a rather public ‘Stick to boxing’ tweet at Air Canada Centre last night, MJ took a game winning jumper of his own to crush Craig Ehlo and the 1989 Cleveland Cavaliers, ending the Bulls’ opening round upset of the three-seed in spectacular fashion. We’ve seen a variety of Cavs and Knicks colorways on a select few Air Jordans including some spectacular PEs over the years, but is this the best one to hit retail yet? Let us know what you think about the corrected inspiration and stick with Sneaker News for the ‘Cavs’ Air Jordan IV release date. via rstor

Looks like 2012 might just be the year that Jordan makes his return to the Garden. Of course not the man himself but his sneaks rather, as the upcoming ‘Knicks’ colorway of the Air Jordan IV should be a popular choice for players and fans alike at Madison Square upon their impending release. So while they will no doubt be a favorite in the Empire Sate, the real question is how sneakerheads at large will judge them. To help you out with that, we’ve got some extra preview shots that deliver on the promise of continued OG-style packaging. As if the Air Jordan IV Retro returning for its 23rd anniversary and a commemorative colorup as well as three original colorways including one in just five days weren’t enough to cause pandemonium, there’s yet another hot new design stirring up a frenzy in the sneakerhead set. Fitting for a team now fully in the grips of Linsanity that all this craziness manifests on the Air Jordan 4 ‘Knicks’, a black nubuck banger whose high-contrast palette rivals some of the very best Air Jordan PEs Jordan Brand has issued. And just like Carmelo’s new-sig-debuting releases from late last year, you won’t have to be in the league to get these; the real question is when should we expect the Air Jordan IV ‘Knicks’ release date? Stick with Sneaker News to find out first, and click through to see the best round of images that’ve surfaced to date. via Marquee Sole

Sneaker News just revealed images described by a phrase that many sneakerheads have been eagerly awaiting for almost seventeen years: Air Jordan XI ‘Blackout’. That sample pair is generating quite a buzz, and there’s another recent black-uppered Air Jordan revelation with a black upper that’s also causing a stir in the community. Coming the wake of the ‘Knicks Pack’ Spiz’ikes and a couple of orange-and-blue-accented releases for this spring is another Air Jordan IV for 2012, a black nubuck design that’ll have you scratching your head when you realize these are basically only one color away from last fall’s wacky Doernbecher x AJ4. It looks like we won’t have to fear that these are a Spike Lee ‘PE’ this time around, so that leaves the question: when is the Air Jordan IV ‘Knicks’ release date? Stick with Sneaker News to find out, and check out a new set of images in the meantime. via Air-Randy

It’ll take a few more good looks of this upcoming Air Jordan IV Retro release to determine whether or not it will be a success, because our readers have made some interesting notes in regards to the colorways. Why a ‘Knicks’ colorway, when they were one of the Bulls’ biggest rivals in the 90′s? Other rumors state that these are a Cleveland Cavaliers colorway (we know MJ absolutely torched the Cavs when they were Playoff contenders), but the overall response hasn’t been a clean sweep of praise. We’ve got a few more angles and close-ups of this Air Jordan IV Retro below so take a look and let us know if these are a must-have for you, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for more updates as they develop. via llo.
