Just like last year, the hard working athletes on the University of Oregon football team have been blessed with some special ‘Oregon Ducks’ flavored Air Jordan retros. This time around it was the Air Jordan IV that was selected for the treatment, with the chromed out colorway pictured here being the first one that players got their hands on. The sneakers pull inspiration from one of the flashier looks in UO’s ever changing wardrobe, one that features a super reflective silvery look for the helmets. A year after the University of Oregon campus was flooded with two separate Air Jordan III exclusives, they’re again getting treated to some retro heat in the form of the Air Jordan IV ‘Oregon Ducks’. The pairs seem to be a PE of sorts doled out to the men’s football team, sort of in the same vein as the white-based Air Jordan III ‘Oregon’ from last year. This new photo set shows off another interesting detail on the sneakers: the tag inside featuring Tinker Hatfield’s signature and a dedication to one Doug McClain. ‘Oregon’ is one of those words that starts to seem strange after you’ve looked at it for a while. There’s a similarly entrancing effect on the state’s namesake university as pertains to their Jordan Retro PEs, except the more you see the Oregon Ducks Air Jordan III and IVs, the more impressive they appear. The IV’s bold high-contrast look provides some extra impact in the absence of a clear ‘home’ counterpart as with the IIIs, but with the Nike x UO bond so tight, might we see more soon? The ‘Oregon Ducks’ Air Jordan IV certainly has its work cut out for it, with tons of University of Oregon related sneaker heat already in existence. Clearly its closest competitor would be the Air Jordan III ‘Oregon’ set from last year, with one colorway being handed out to fans across campus via various giveaways and the other doled out to football players. It looks like Air Jordan IV ‘Oregon Ducks’ for this year falls in the latter category, with the majority of photos so far popping up courtesy of athletes.
