AIR JORDAN IV WHITE/CEMENT The Air Jordan IV White/Cement is an original colorway of the Air Jordan IV that was first released in 1989. The ‘cement’ part of the name refers to the speckled grey sections of the sneaker making up the midsole, lace wings, and back tab. The Air Jordan IV White/Cement has had two retro releases since, one in 1999 and one in 2012.

We’ve seen it a million times by now, but a sneaker as historic, relevant, and empirically gorgeous to the bone is always worth a second look. In fact, this new set of images of the upcoming Air Jordan IV White/Tech Grey actually pictures the shoe in various backdrops – on tile, in a hallway, on…train tracks. The best depiction of the February 2012 release was when it was juxtaposed with the 1999 Retro release, which revealed quite a number of changes made to the ’12 version, like the darker shade of grey (technically Tech Grey, not Cement Grey); despite the differences from the ’99 release, the White/Cement AJ4 will be a hot release and a popular pick for many ‘Best Of’ lists by the end of the 2012 year. Whenever an original colorway of the Air Jordan re-issues, the comparisons are bound to happen. Thanks to YungDrSeuss, we have a nice side-by-side of the Air Jordan IV White/Cement – 1999 Retro vs. the upcoming 2012 edition. The tone of grey is obviously different (Tech Grey being a much darker shade) and of course, how do you not notice the difference in the branding on the heel? That just goes to show how long it’s actually been since the Air Jordan IV White/Cement last graced the planet, and this February 18th, 2012, the newer generation will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the greatest OG Air Jordans of all time. Just yesterday Sneaker News gave you a detailed look at the men’s version of the upcoming Air Jordan IV White/Cement, scheduled for the February 18th release. Jordan Brand gives you wings! Plastics wings, that is. We’ve only seen detailed angles of the Air Jordan IV White/Cement in kids sizes, and one collective fear shared by the sneaker world was the possibility of the leather/suede wrapped lace harness (you know, that triangular piece on the upper). This through viewing relieves a few concerns by revealing a plastic-type Wings as well as black speckling on the midsole (earlier samples revealed grey speckling). Confirmed for kids sizes. Dropping February 18th, 2012. Will feature a nubuck-wrapped ‘Wing’. What else do you need to know? The anxiety surrounding the release of the Air Jordan IV White/Cement is mounting, because for some, the release is nearly thirteen years in the making. Hardcore collectors who were around at the turn of the century are still holding on tight to their ’99 Retros, but that kung-fu grip can be loosened just a bit once they release. The Kids version, as we see here again, comes with a few noticeable differences from the men’s sizes, like the lack of the ‘peak’ at the forefoot of the midsole. Earlier today Sneaker News gave you a first look at the Air Jordan IV White/Cement Retro for February 2012. Here’s another detailed look at the GS size of that upcoming release; as mentioned before, the plastic ‘wing’ has been replaced with a leather-wrapped version seen in later Air Jordan IV retros like the ‘Mist Blue‘, ‘Cool Grey‘, and ‘Tour Yellow‘. The black speckling from the original version returns as well, but considering the last time we saw the Air Jordan IV Cement had ‘Nike Air’ on the heel, the Jumpman on the heel will take some ‘getting used to’. We’ve seen quite a number of Air Jordan V releases this year and even some unreleased samples (like that blue suede pair we showed you not long ago). Here’s a look at an unreleased Air Jordan V Low in Black/Purple, spotted on the feet of Jordan Brand employee Josiah_Lake who has dubbed these the ‘Purple Haze.’ Of course, being an employee of the Jumpman will enable you to get your hands on some true gems, so perhaps these were some Mike Bibby PEs, sans the stitched ’10′ number on the heel, that were just lying around the Beaverton campus. Also notice the upcoming Air Jordan Retros on his table – namely the Air Jordan IV White/Cement and Air Jordan III Black/Cement.
