The whole “Player Exclusive” thing is a relative label when it comes to sneakers, as it’s kind of inevitable that any given pair will make its way beyond the hands of the intended players. What is the best University of Oregon flavored Air Jordan PE out there? Did the line-up reach its peak with the likes of the Air Jordan III duo, or do these Ducky Air Jordan IVs beat them out? Is there yet another brand new Air Jordan IV colorway coming in 2013? It sure looks like it, as these new photos are promising an Air Jordan IV with a muted colorway sort of in line with that of the “Green Glow” pair. The sneaker lands somewhere in between the Air Jordan IV “Cool Grey” and the Air Jordan IV “Oreo”-its midsole speckled while the upper keeps things pretty colorless. 2012′s “Galaxy” concept continues to have a strong influence with sneaker customs a year later. When will the Area 72 focus catch on? We’ve only seen a handful of Area 72-inspired customs hit our headlines, but we’ll add another one to the 2013 All-Star column with this Air Jordan IV “Area 72″ Custom by DMC Kicks. His most recent work featured on Sneaker News was a remixed “Easter” version of the Nike LeBron X, but this time around he adopts an existing concept seen in the Barkley Posite Max release with the black/red upper, hints of purple, and the white fragment print on the upper. Over the years we’ve seen some amazing (and questionable) colorways of Air Jordans and Air Jordan Retros surface on the web. In fact, there might be as many unreleased mock-ups as there are produced versions, but who knows what’s really stowed in the deep dark vaults inside the Jordan Brand headquarters and overseas factories? We’ve compiled a fairly thorough gallery of some notable Air Jordan sample colorways that have never seen the light of day at retail; some of these already have noted legends behind them, like the Air Jordan VI “Infrared” Retro with the flipped midsole and the Air Jordan V “Gold” that may or may not have been made for an employee, but some of the stuff we’ve come across cause us to question why the shoes were never released, or why they were created in the first place! You’ve gotta figure that Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra could probably get his hands on any Nike LeBron release his heart desires, right? It looks like he might be more of an Air Jordan man though. Spoelstra showed up to the recent conference for LeBron James’ latest MVP Award with blatant disregard for any sort of dress code-shirt tucked into his cargo shorts and the Air Jordan IV “White/Cement” on feet. We continue our string of insane sneaker collections on Instagram with a focus on PEvault – a collector with a distinct taste for the rarest Player Exclusives in Air Jordan and Nike Basketball form. We’re certain that what he has up on his Instagram profile is just a snippet of what has in his “PE vault”, but what he shows us is ridiculously impressive – the Air Jordan IV “Laser” samples given to Melo right after the Olympics, the Air Jordan V Ray Allen PE during his Seattle days, an Air Jordan IX Low for former NFL Runningback Marshall Faulk, and a lot more.
