Green accents continue to be a prominent theme on Air Jordan 4s as on the heels of the ‘Green Glow’ revelation, we see a new custom extending the Four’s Oregon Ducks ties.  This ‘Duck Camo’ Air Jordan IV by DeJesus keeps some of the chromed-out look that touched the UO IVs and transfers the school’s unmistakable color scheme into the tiger camouflage pattern for a ferocious finish.  The custom sneaker renaissance continues its latest chapter with more photos after the jump and be sure to check Sneaker News for the latest.

It’s a bit surprising that the Air Jordan III and IV continue to get churned out in a year we thought was designated to highlight the Air Jordan V, but as long as Jordan Brand continues to stay creative with its releases, we don’t think anyone would be really disappointed. One of the interesting pairs set for 2013 is the Air Jordan IV ‘Green Glow’, and like the official color suggests, these may or many not have Glow-in-the-Dark or even Black Light bursts of light. These are slated to drop during the Fall season so enjoy this first look below and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates.

One of the most anticipated sneakers of the year are without question the Air Jordan IV in the buzzing’Fire Red’ colorway. A recent gallery of photos proved that the upper material was not a suede material, but rather a flatter nubuck-style upper, but regardless of what material is used on the shoe, the ‘Fire Red’ Air Jordan IV will be a must-have when it releases. These certainly wear that ‘Raging Bull’ suit well, don’t they? We’ll keep you up to date on the official release date, so check out the full video review as well as a gallery of photos below for a better look.

Air Jordan IV “Samurai” Customs by El Cappy

air jordan iv samurai 04 Air Jordan IV Samurai Customs by El Cappy

The Japanese influence in Tinker Hatfield’s personal style has never been more pronounced than with his latest revealed design – the Air Jordan XX8. It’s clear that the legendary footwear architect marches to a beat that we’re not entirely familiar with, yet we find ourselves following his lead willingly. Although not much of a Japanese influence is known with the design of the Air Jordan IV, a shoe that some may argue is Tinker’s best design ever, the muted and controlled colorway of the classic ‘White/Cement’ has that zen-like calm, making the customized ‘Samurai’ version by El Cappy a rather welcome fit. Going with traditional Japanese graphics on the midsole and on the upper wing with a Samurai mask logo embossed on the heel, this Air Jordan IV custom clearly took some Samurai-like discipline and focus. A gallery of this amazing work is just below so enjoy the fine details on one of the best customs we’ve seen this year.

Despite having plenty of pairs hit on 2012, the Air Jordan IV will be back in 2013 in the form of this Air Jordan IV. The sneaker has fire red dominating the upper, and appears to utilize a nubuck rather than the suede that showed up on Carmelo Anthony’s similar PE. Stay with us after the jump for an additional angle of this expected Fall 2013 Air Jordan IV release and tell us in the comments if this is a purchase you’re planning to make.

History of Air Jordan Retros with “Nike Air” Branding

February 7th, 2013 by | 49 comments

air jordan retros with nike air logo History of Air Jordan Retros with Nike Air Branding

Jordan Brand’s impressive appetite-filling series of Retro releases over the last decade or so should have satiated even the hungriest of Air Jordan collectors and enthusiasts. Should have. The original Defining Moments Package of 2006, the Collezione in 2008, the Bin 23 Collection, the in-depth plot-driven Kilroy Pack – all of those and more gave us enough reason to perpetually shell out our savings to lace up in Jays, but one gaping hole continues to be left unfulfilled since 2001 – the appearance of the original Nike Air. It’s nothing more than a piece of molded plastic, but its absence was still a void that was eventually left ignored seeing that a return of Nike Air had less to do with production and more to do with brand identity (Jordan would branch out to form its own label, albeit under Nike, Inc.) – but the desire was still there. Even today, hardcore enthusiasts continue to shell out hundreds and hundreds of dollars to get their hands on Nike Air branded Jordan Retros from the 1999-2001 era – shoes that are on the cusp of complete physical breakdown.

Why is Nike Air so cherished? Because it’s the perfect embodiment of a Retro release. It’s the undeniable original form that we were graced with back in the late 1980s, so even the most well-done Air Jordan Retros – the Air Jordan VI ‘Infrared’ from the 2010 Pack release, the Air Jordan IV ‘Bred’ from 2008/2012, the Air Jordan V ‘Black/Metallic’ in 2007 to name a few – would be unable to achieve a 100% grade. The era from Air Jordan III to VI is considered by many to be the most lustrous period of the Air Jordan Golden Era (or when Tinker was the architect), and it just happens to be the same span that utilized the large Nike Air logo on the heel.

When you think of Rasheed Wallace sneakers, there’s no doubt that the Nike Air Force 1 is the first thing that comes to mind. Challenging that just a little bit is this latest piece from Mache-a pair of the Air Jordan IV that upgrades the already ‘Knicks’ looking colorway of the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ release with some distinctly Sheed details. On the back end is the Sheed silhouette in its proper place and on the inside is a lining sporting his classic “Ball don’t lie” slogan. Hit the jump with us to get some extra images and tell us if these top the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ retail release in your mind.
