AIR JORDAN IX ‘KILROY PACK’ The Air Jordan IX ‘Kilroy Pack’ is a group of six separate colorways of the Air Jordan IX, each one based on a fictional alter-ego of Michael Jordan created in an ad campaign of old. The group includes Johnny Kilroy, Fontay Montana, Bentley Ellis, Slim Jenkins, Motorboat Jones, and Calvin Bailey. The pairs are all set to release in Holiday 2012.

Releasing in the second week of November is this Deep Royal/University Gold-White colorway of the Air Jordan IX that has been chosen to represent ‘Calvin Bailey‘ – one of Michael’s six aliases he conjured up during his first retirement in the mid-90′s. We’ve pointed out the NBA team connections in the colorways, and it’s clear that this Royal/Yellow combination will be popular out in Golden State, in Indiana (Paul George, we’re looking at you), the Grizzlies, the Nuggets’ alternate, and more, so maybe the Bailey will be commonplace in our upcoming NBA Feet segments. Who is Slim Jenkins? His sneaker has been the most mysterious from the gigantic Air Jordan IX ‘Kilroy Pack’, with the further out release date preventing too many previews from popping up so far. Luckily our man Johnny Kilroy has let go an image, this one suggesting that Michael Jordan donned a fake mustache and quite the afro to get away with the disguise. After all this time of being in hiding, Johnny Kilroy is about to fully reveal himself to the public, with the first from that pack of Air Jordan IX’s releasing tomorrow. The Air Jordan IX ‘Johnny Kilroy’ is a fairly unique one among the bunch, sporting the number 4 embroidery along the back and a ‘Kilroy Kicks Butt’ message on the inside instead of the team designation found on the rest. This Saturday, the Air Jordan IX ‘Kilroy Pack’ will be underway, starting with the actual Kilroy version of silver/black/red. That release will be followed by the colorway made for Fontay Montana, who played for the fictional semi-pro team known as the ‘Gulls’. Their jersey colors just happen to be the popular Knicks get-up of Orange/Royal, so we expect these to be a big success among the other Kilroy Pack drops that are scheduled for October and November. Best of the Kilroy? You tell us, and if you don’t need to think twice, cop them ahead of time of the previously noted October 13th release date from yellownsxt on eBay.

The latest detail of the upcoming Air Jordan IX ‘Kilroy Pack’ just rolled in – a special edition insole for each version of the shoe. It’s been a long while since Jordan Brand threw in special insoles in their Retro releases (with the exception of the Doernbecher releases, which were designed by the children of Doernbecher Hospital), so it’s definitely a nice addition to an already detailed Retro drop that features a new tongue label and embroidered logo on the inner face of the tongue. We’ve got a nice detailed look at the ‘Fontay Montana‘ and the ‘Gulls’ of the Kilroy Pack below so take a look and let us know what you think.

This October 6th will mark the 19th Anniversary of Michael Jordan’s first retirement announcement. Coming just a few short weeks before the start of the ’93-’94 NBA Season, Michael’s decision made massive shockwaves throughout the world of sports, so while the league was losing a great one, the remaining twenty-seven NBA teams breathed a collective sigh of relief. Without MJ in the way, the chances of NBA Championship glory was up for grabs, and for two NBA seasons, that dream was realized. During Michael’s absence, Nike created the story of Johnny Kilroy – a false identity assumed by Michael as a way to get back onto an NBA Court. We all had a good inkling that this year would be capped off with the Air Jordan IX treatment, with colorways like the ‘Cool Grey’ and the ‘Olive’ popping up earlier in the year. Of course amongst them was the Air Jordan IX ‘Johnny Kilroy’, one that has turned out to be the harbinger of so much more-a six pair pack focusing around Michael Jordan’s alter egos during his fictional retirement way back when. The Johnny Kilroy, Fontay Montana, Bentley Ellis, Calvin Bailey, Slim Jenkins, and Motorboat Jenkins, will each be rolled out in pretty quick succession in the coming months.
