Johnny Kilroy joined Twitter just in time for the release of his very own Air Jordan IX colorway, which is something he didn’t have the opportunity to do upon bursting onto the scene back in the mid ’90s. This Michael Jordan alter-ego continues to build his legend nearly two decades after His Airness’ first retirement, and this dope new color-up features personalized messages on the tongue and footbed along with the ‘PE’ number ’4′ on the heel badge. We’ve known to expect these as the first ‘alias’ release for some time now, and they will finally be available for purchase next Saturday, October 6th at select JB retailers so be on the lookout and stay tuned for release info on the rest of the “Kilroy Pack” coming soon.

Two words: Employee Perks. Jordan Brand athlete Chris Paul recently showed off his entire collection of the Air Jordan IX ‘Kilroy Pack’, but that wasn’t all he got from Jordan Brand in this recent mass-shipment. Along with the entire set of Kilroys, CP3 got a nice set of his own signature shoe (the Jordan CP3.VI), the Air Jordan IV ‘Bred’, the ‘Raging Bull’ Spizikes, and a duo of AJ1s. It certainly is nice to be one of Jordan Brand’s own, but you’ll have the opportunity to collect this Holiday 2012 stash of footwear for yourself once the first wave of releases begin in October. A full shot of everything CP3 copped is just below, so take a look and let us know what you’re looking forward to the most.

The Jordan Brand folks headquartered in Beaverton, OR love telling stories behind their products. Take for example the Defining Moments series of Air Jordan Packs that re-told Michael’s legendary achievements, or one of the more subtle attempts like the Air Jordan V ‘Laney’, which was a throwback to Michael’s High School days. Of the entire Jordan saga that spans nearly three decades, no story is as entertaining as the ’94 tale if Johnny Kilroy – a fictional persona absorbed by Michael Jordan during his short hiatus from the game of basketball. It was a positive, light-hearted spin on Jordan’s sudden retirement from the Bulls (partly sparked by the death of his father), which focused on Jordan’s burning desire to step on a hardwood court – regardless of what uniform he dons or name he assumes.
In 2012, Jordan Brand revisits the story of Johnny Kilroy with this unprecedented ‘Pack’ of Air Jordan IX colorways, with each edition representing one of the many pseudonyms that Michael – no, wait – Johnny Kilroy used during his short span in the spotlight. Motorboat Jones, Calvin Bailey, Fontay Montana, Bentley Ellis, and of course, Johnny Kilroy are the inclusions of this roster of semi-pro ballers, and beginning this October 6th (the same date in which Michael announced his first retirement), the saga of Kilroy will be re-told – not in E! True Hollywood Story style, but with dope sneaker releases. Check out these exclusive images of the Air Jordan IX ‘Kilroy Pack’ below and let us know which of the six colorways you like best.

Love will compel one to go against all odds in pursuit of happiness. For Michael Jordan, it was the love of basketball that forced him to assume a fake identity and play ball for semi-professional teams, which eventually led to a return to the Chicago Bulls as ‘Johnny Kilroy’. The first of such teams is the Billings Bandits, where Michael transformed himself into a player named ‘Motorboat Jones’; that fictional baller is the focus of this installment of the Air Jordan IX ‘Kilroy Pack’, which features the Red/Black Bandits colorway with ‘Motorboat Jones’ labeled on the tongue. Are these the best of the Kilroy Pack, or do you prefer one of the other four that we’ve seen? We’ve got extra shots for you to peek at below, so take a look and let us know what you think. Many thanks to Tony Perez & SoleFly.

Johnny Kilroy, Calvin Bailey, Fontay Montana, Bentley Ellis, now Billings Bandits. The starting five of the exciting Air Jordan IX ‘Johnny Kilroy’ Pack is now complete, as we get a first look at the Air Jordan IX inspired by another one of the fictional teams that Kilroy suited up for. We’ll have more information for you when it develops, so check out the full shot below and keep in tune with Sneaker News for the latest. Photo: chinojp87

Johnny Kilroy, Bentley Ellis, Fontay Montana, Calvin Bailey — these ‘men’ are breathing new life into Michael Jordan’s first post-retirement signature two decades after the debut, thanks to a variety of all-new Air Jordan IX colorways that have sneakerheads brushing up on their revisionist history. Calvin Bailey’s AJ9s reflect the fictional Gary, IN squad’s colors for whom he was purported to play, a palette reminiscent of the Hoosier state’s NBA Pacers (right down to the contrast stitching-as-pinstripes). Kilroy’s Nines kick off this trip back into a time that never really happened on October 6th, so stick with Sneaker News to find out when the Calvin Bailey release date and check out some new images in the meantime.
