While Mike Bibby’s first big sneaker moment came in the form of his Foamposite wears from his NCAA days, there’s no doubt that his legacy will be much more caught up in the Air Jordan category. We say that of course because of the near-limitless range of player exclusives that have been made for the man over the years. Keeping in line with the usually short form is this Air Jordan 9 Low from his Sacramento Kings days that comes with the particularly cool (Bibby) designation on the box tag. Take a look after the break and then bid on these Bibby Jordans now from air-flight23 on eBay.

Air Jordan 9 Low – Marshall Faulk PE

Do you remember this Air Jordan 9 Low PE from over a decade ago? The sneakers were created for Jordan Brand athlete Marshall Faulk and feature a pretty regal look on account of the gold mudguard wrapping the sneakers. The pair serves as a reminder that these sort of PE Jordans for NFL players weren’t always of the turf or cleat persuasion – also that non-gridiron status means that they get the full Jumpman branding. Continue reading for a better set of images on them and then take a look at the chance to own this rare Air Jordan pair from poundforpoundshoes on eBay.

Hit the jump with us for photos of the man also known as King Crab in his Air Jordan IX exclusives and let us know if you enjoyed the big game yesterday.

It’s rather surprising that throughout the Holiday 2012 season, during which a near-dozen pairs of the Air Jordan IX hit stores, not a single low-top was produced. The last time the low-top 9s were a ‘thing’ was back in 2002, when Jordan Brand athlete Derek Anderson sported a great rotation of Player Exclusives, like this Air Jordan IX Low for his Portland days. We’ve got a gallery of this rare gem below so take a look and let us know if you’d like to see a comeback of the Low 9 after you check out the full listing from dballaholic on eBay.

Classics Revisited: Air Jordan IX Low – White – Pearl Blue (2002)

air jordan ix low pearl blue Classics Revisited: Air Jordan IX Low White Pearl Blue (2002)

AIR JORDAN LOW WEEK

There’s no hiding the fact that the Air Jordan IX occupies a difficult spot in the legacy series line up. The sneaker itself was sandwiched by a load of much more sentimental models, book-ended by three championships on one side and another three on the other (with the comeback special the Air Jordan X thrown in there for good measure). As their original release came during MJ’s first self imposed exile from the game the man himself never laced up in the Air Jordan IX, that is unless you count on the baseball diamond in that black and white cleat version for the Birmingham Barons or many years later in the retro ‘Cool Grey’ colorway for the Wizards. With the sneaker threatening to end up a bit short in terms of historical significance Jordan Brand was forced to stir the pot a little. They aimed for a story that celebrated the worldwide impact of Michael’s game, they crafted a mysterious character in the form of the Johnny Kilroy ad campaign, heck they even dished out a PE colorway to one Penny Hardaway in an era long before the company made it policy to outfit athletes with specialized pairs. So when the time did eventually come for the Air Jordan IX to get in on the retro action in 2002 it was almost a given that the folks out in Beaverton would fiddle with the equation once again.

The result? The Air Jordan IX Low, an abridged version of the sneaker that came first in a snow white colorway (pictured after the jump) and later in the much more attention grabbing pearl blue shown above. The sneaker stands as one of those truly unique combos amongst its peers, with no other Air Jordan release since ever bearing the same nearly navy tone, paired so simply here with white for the outsole and upper area that stretches beyond the extended leather wrap around. Outside of that idiosyncratic choice of color the pair did actually include something more traditional around the perimeter, with what appears to be a columbia/university blue touching on the various Jumpman logos that gets left out of the official color designation. Check with us after the jump for all the angles on this boiled down classic the Air Jordan IX Low ‘Pearl Blue’ from 2002, as well as its bleached brethren, and check back at the same time tomorrow as we continue to get low this week in Classics Revisited.

We continue with Air Jordan samples galore with a look at this unreleased Air Jordan IX Low. These were spotted on the feet of Jordan Brand employee Josiah_Lake, who just one week ago flaunted an unreleased, pair of Air Jordan V Low samples. This Air Jordan IX sample, which Lake describes as ‘Bull Red’, features a white leather upper with red patent leather on the mudguard, similar to the tonal White and ‘Pearl Blue’ Air Jordan IX Lows that released roughly one decade ago. Will Josiah break out a new Air Jordan sample every Friday? Let’s hope he’s got some more gems in his sneaker closet. If you want to show off your kicks, head on over to Sneaker News Blogs: WDYWT and let’s see if you’ve got something that can beat Josiah’s Air Jordan IX samples!
