It’s almost poetic that lost in the mix of Olympic Air Jordans this summer has been one of the OGs that made its debut right after Michael went missing from the Bulls. The ’Olive’ Air Jordan 9 Retro few under the radar in its 2002 return and has been unseen since we learned of the November 17th release back in June. This earthy spin on the classic Chicago colorway is well-timed with a mid-autumn target that should help casual fans reconnect with an original’s underrated novelty. Yesterday evening, Sneaker News filled you in on the release date of the Air Jordan IX ‘Cool Grey’, confirmed for the weekend just before the drop of the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’. Looks like another confirmed Air Jordan IX, the OG ‘Olive’ colorway, will precede another big-ticket ‘Bred’ item as the Olive IXs are slated for a November 17th release. If anyone can recall, the Air Jordan IX ‘Olive’ wasn’t a major hit in its last sighting in 2002, but will it see a much more favorable fortune this time around? Let us know if these are a must-have for you and be sure to mark your sneaker calendars for November 17th and we’ll keep you updated with ongoing developments on all Air Jordan Retro releases of 2012. We’ve become accustomed to Christmastime Air Jordan XI Retro releases, and while Jordan Brand has no plans to change that anytime soon (‘Bred’ and ’Columbia’ on tap for 2012), they have indeed flipped the script in one sense. Switch around the roman numerals and add the Air Jordan IX to your holiday shopping list, pictured above in the OG ‘Olive’ colorway that debuted during MJ’s first season with the Birmingham Barons. The rare use of such an earthy color in an otherwise bred palette confused some back in the day, but today’s lifestyle market will gobble up this versatile take on the intense Chicago-style look. Check them out after the jump pictured with a bunch of other upcoming heat and let us know if the ‘Olive’ Air Jordan 9s will be yours come Q4. Photos: wizdomlakers on NT

Terrence j of BET’s 106 & Park continues his impressive streak of on-screen heat as he was spotted in a recent taping of the mid-afternoon show wearing the Air Jordan IX ‘Olive’. It’s a shoe that has garnered quite a cult following despite being one of the more unpopular colorways during its original and 2002 Retro release, but how can you say no to a pair of Jordans that are pretty much made for camo-print cargos? It isn’t clear if Terrence J’s Olives are OGs, 2002s, or an early pair of the upcoming 2012 release, but kudos to him anyway for breaking out some sick kicks! via NT

Chris Brown’s been a familiar face in Sneaker News Celebrity Feet features, and that’s no surprise because he’s been in the Jordan game for quite a while. He’s been spotted with the Air Jordan VII Orion Blue, the Air Jordan XIII Playoffs, and the Air Jordan II ‘Candy Pack’ in yellow, but this most recent blip on the Chris Brown Celebrity Feet radar involves an original Air Jordan IX colorway that re-issued in 2002. The Air Jordan IX ‘Olive’ was unlike any other Air Jordan colorway to have released until that point; it appeared more like a hiking boot rather than a basketball shoe thanks to the earthy Olive green upper and the suede/leather combination of materials. When it did re-release in 2002, the Olives actually sat on shelves for a while, but commands a much higher dollar today. Chris Brown’s got some interesting taste in sneakers so check out his Olive IX after the jump and let us know what you think. via rap-up.
