It’s a bit overwhelming when you look back at all the crazy sneaker designs that came out of Tinker Hatfield’s imagination, but there has to be a number of unreleased mock-ups that never saw the light of the day. One of those scrapped models is this prototype of the Air Jordan IX Low; it features the same midsole construction as the Air Jordan IX, but the upper adopts a much more “lifestyle” approach with the classic toe-box and heel build while managing to distinguish itself with the diamond-stitching and tiny triangular perforations. Your thoughts on this prototype of the Air Jordan IX Low? Check out the full shot below and chime in.

The Holiday 2012 season saw enough Air Jordan IX releases to last the next decade, but it appears that Jordan Brand might have had another one up its sleeve as we get a first look at an unreleased colorway. Intended for a Holiday 2012 release, this Air Jordan IX Retro combines Black, Mesa Orange, and Dark Grey in a nubuck upper for a rather clean color-combo that we’ve never seen on an Air Jordan Retro. While the shoe is a predominant mix of Black, Grey, and White, the hits of Mesa Orange on the heel Jumpman and the badges on the heel give these Retros a really nice color-profile, but the release of the “Cool Grey” probably made these a bit too redundant. We’ve got a first look before so check out this unreleased sample below and see the full listing from jordunk23 on eBay.

The “Crown Jewel” colorway of the Nike LeBron X was arguably one of the best of 2012, with the luxurious color tones alluding to the “diamond” concept behind LeBron’s tenth shoe. In this latest custom, noldocustoms shows us that “Crown Jewel” looks good on any suit, especially on the Air Jordan IX; adapting every detail withe the fuschia upper, pink eyelets and outsole, and the speckled midsole, we can confirm that “Crown Jewel”, despite being one of the best colorways of 2012, might be under-appreciated considering we haven’t seen it used in many customs. More angles are below, so take a look and let us know where Crown Jewel ranks among the all-time great LeBron colorways.

So the recent news of the Air Jordan #XX8DaysofFlight collection arriving at the hands of the lucky winners as well as one pair going up for sale on eBay has been a trendy topic, but the “Black/Neon” Collection wasn’t the first themed set of Jays we’ve seen. In fact, 2012 was all about the White/Red, Pantone, Rainbow, Blackout, and more, and most have at one point or another gone up for sale on eBay. The value of these aren’t exactly set in stone, but with these pairs never releasing to the public, the demand for these elusive Retros is definitely there. One seller has several up for grabs now, so see what’s available below and check out the listings from soleland on eBay.

It appears that the massive “XX8 Days of Flight” set of Air Jordans given away by Jordan Brand has finally begun to make its way into the hands of the winners. You’ll recall that entry involved snapping a pic of yourself on Instagram using #XX8DaysofFlight wearing the Air Jordan model corresponding to that day. The black and green sneakers have popped up across Instagram, as the lucky Air Jordan enthusiasts who received their pairs have been eager to show them off (and it looks like Jordan Brand unknowingly selected one user to receive two pairs). Now that the pairs are out there, it will be a test of will power to see who ends up keeping these one of a kind sneakers in their personal collection and who ends up taking the “other” route to cash out, although the 1-of-1 factor might be to tough to let go! Check out most of the Air Jordan “XX8 Days of Flight” pairs that have been doled out right after the jump and tell us in the comments which pair is your favorite.

The deep stories and events that shadow every Air Jordan in history is what made the Retro such a booming success, and as far back as 1994, Nike made sure that we were reminded of the message behind each design. Since the first Air Jordan Retros in 1994 during MJ’s first retirement to all OG and Retro colorways that hit stores in the late 90′s and 2000′s, a tw0-sided post-card detailing a brief history of the shoe as well as an iconic flashback image of the times came included with the shoes; these cards have been referred to as Retro Cards, and while some may have not given them much though, some sneaker collectors did their best to gather them all. With the Air Jordan Retro Card making a surprising come-back with the upcoming Air Jordan VIII Retros and the possibility of more Retro Cards with future Retro releases, it’s about time we took a look back at every single Retro Card that Nike ever put out – from the first ones in 1994, to the latest ones that came accompanied with a Doernbecher release. Enjoy this throwback piece below and let us know which you’re missing from your set!

Continuing the Watchmen Series of sneaker customs by Sekure D is this Air Jordan IX inspired by Night Owl; this edition is certainly one of the more toned-down customs that Sekure D has completing, opting for a more tonal vibe to accentuate Night Owl’s brown and gold uniform. Sekure D confirms a sixth custom to represent Silk Spectre – the final member of The Watchmen, and a seventh mystery shoe to close out the set, so while we wait for that, be sure to get your hands on these eclusive pairs as the release will go down at the Sekure D online store on Friday, 4PM and in Melbourne on Saturday, 8AM.
