The Air Jordan IX is of course the odd man out amongst the original string of sneakers that MJ played in during his Chicago Bulls days. Having made its debut at a time when Jordan was taking a break from the game of basketball, the shoe doesn’t sport quite the same amount of history as its peers. If you’re new to the Air Jordan game, you probably have a whole lot of catching up to do. With nearly every original Air Jordan already gone through the Retro cycle (with a few making several comebacks), the available options to build your Air Jordan collection could keep you busy for months – or you can cop this sick 97-pair collection in one fell swoop. This particular lot includes only the Air Jordan 1 through Air Jordan XIII in sizes 10.5-11.0, but nearly every pair brand spankin’ new and there’s some serious heat in here (’94 Retros, Eminem IIs, the original DMP, etc.). Considering there were ten pairs of Air Jordan IXs to choose from the past Holiday season, it might’ve been easy to overlook a release or two. With the six-pack of Kilroys, the Doernbecher, and the Olive/Cool Grey Retros, it’s safe to say that the underrated ‘Photo Blue’ was the odd man out of that bunch, but thanks to a major factory blunder, the Photo Blues didn’t exactly go under the radar. A loud response from our readers resulted from the first report of the factory error that produced a black-sole version instead of the intended white, and many guessed that Jordan Brand would release them in some way rather than trash them for good. It appears that a few pairs have hit Nike Factory Stores, so if you’re looking for a pair, get in on the bidding action in this listing from 160jordansdeep on eBay.

It’s rather surprising that throughout the Holiday 2012 season, during which a near-dozen pairs of the Air Jordan IX hit stores, not a single low-top was produced. The last time the low-top 9s were a ‘thing’ was back in 2002, when Jordan Brand athlete Derek Anderson sported a great rotation of Player Exclusives, like this Air Jordan IX Low for his Portland days. The Kilroy Pack, return of the Olives, the Photo Blue fiasco, Oswaldo’s Doernbechers – it’s been an incredible right for the Air Jordan IX this Holiday season. Tomorrow, the show will reach a grand finale with the release of the ‘Cool Grey’ – a Retro colorway that first released in 2002 and adopted the famous Air Jordan XI edition that preceded that by one year.
