After the recent release of the Air Jordan IX ‘Olive’ we’re getting another familiar look for that silhouette, albeit not quite an OG one. Pictured here is the Air Jordan IX ‘Cool Grey’, set to hit stores in just about a week. It will be the swan song for the Air Jordan IX in this particular year, marking the last of a huge crop of pairs that managed to sustain plenty of interest thanks to the story telling approach of the ‘Doernbecher’ and ‘Johnny Kilroy’ pairs. What seems like an incessant surge of Air Jordan IXs is yet to slow down as a few more IXs are ready to fire in the coming weeks. Is the ‘Slim Jenkins’ edition of the Air Jordan IX ‘Kilroy Pack’ the sleeper hit of the bunch? This version was kept under firm wraps for the most part while details of the other five versions leaked out profusely, so maybe it’s the hardened mystique that keeps us interested, but the Black/University Blue colorway is definitely something Jordan fans can get down with for its ‘UNC Tar Heel’ proclivity. Upon the first official viewing of Oswaldo Jiminez’s Air Jordan IX design for the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection, our readers praised the youngster’s ability to keep a controlled composition of colors and details while giving the sneaker a distinguished attitude. The white leather upper, paired with the Black/Gold trim on the upper deemed this year’s Doernbecher Air Jordan arguably the most polished yet, but it looks like Oswaldo hit a rather energetic detail on the outsoles of the shoe. A full shot of the soles is right ahead so take a look and stay tuned for a release next Friday, November 30th.

Jordan Brand took a quick breather from the Johnny Kilroy pack to release the original ‘Olive’ Air Jordan IX this past Saturday, which leaves us with two more left from this unique six-pack. The ‘Motorboat Jones’ Air Jordan IX is set to wrap up the Kilroy saga in a couple weeks, having originally been scheduled as an early November drop before JB shuffled their holiday release dates for a more even distribution. They follow right after this weekend’s ‘Slim Jenkins’ IX’s that might end up as something of a sleeper with the tremendous abundance of heat on tap for the Black Friday weekend, so don’t let your guard down. The penultimate chapter of the Johnny Kilroy saga releases this Saturday, as the Air Jordan IX takes form of Slim Jenkins and the ‘Mystics’ squad. Featuring a divine mix of Black and University Blue, many have called this Kilroy Pack release a ‘reverse’ of 2010′s White/University Blue Retro of the OG “Powder” as the upper replaces white with a solid black. Is this the best colorway of the Kilroy Pack, or is the final ‘Slim Jenkins’ release still the one to beat?
