It’s quite clear that while the ‘Bordeaux’ nickname given to this colorway is understandable, the actual OG doesn’t reflect well in the color-blocking scheme on this upcoming Spiz’ike colorway. Truth is, the rainbow of colors seen here (two tones of grey, Varsity Maize, Sapphire Blue, Varsity Red) only works well when concentrated at one point (like the tongue, for example), but when spaced out in the manner seen with the Jordan Spiz’ike, you have a completely different colorway, as made evident once again in this most recent viewing courtesy of kicks-lab. Take note of the official color designation and you won’t even see ‘Bordeaux’, which in truth is a darker, more velvety shade of red. For Spiz’ike fans, these are definitely a nice colorway on its own so if like what you see and can’t wait until February, cop a pair months in advance on eBay.

A hot topic on Sneaker News this week was the Air Jordan Spiz’ike in the ‘Bordeaux’ colorway. Taking a direct inspiration from the original Air Jordan VII colorway of the same name, these upcoming Spiz’ikes were initially confirmed by Sneaker News when we did an advanced preview of the Jordan Brand Spring 2012 collection. However, the Jordan Spiz’ike ‘Bordeaux’ has been under a fire set by the sneaker community primarily for its non-resemblance to the actual Air Jordan VII ‘Bordeaux’. What makes the OGs and these Spiz’ikes so different is that the multi-colored color-blocking surrounds the entire shoe of the latter, but is concentrated on the tongue on the former. Maybe that’s what makes the Bordeaux VII such an incredible shoe, as it perfects the ‘controlled’ color-blocking seen on the earliest Air Jordan colorways. In any case, the Bordeaux Spiz’ikes have popped up early for purchase, so take a look at these new images and snag one months in advance by visiting the auction by el-store on eBay.

The Air Jordan Spiz’ike has a long history of OG Air Jordan-inspired colorways. Popular picks like the Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’, the Air Jordan XX ‘Quickstrike’, and the Air Jordan IV ‘White/Cement’ have all been transplanted rather accurate;y onto this widely popular hybrid sneaker, and for February 2012, it’ll receive the ‘Bordeaux’ treatment. Sneaker News dropped the news of the Air Jordan Spiz’ike ‘Bordeaux’ back in late June when we previewed the Spring 2012 release calendar for Jordan Brand, but here we have a first look at this upcoming release. With color-blocking pick-pocketed from the OG Air Jordan VII ‘Bordeaux’, the Spiz’ike receives a nice refresher with an age-old (and well-respected) original. An additional close-up awaits you below, so take a look and let us know what you think. via MN.
