Remember when Kendrick Lamar said he used to want to be like Michael Jordan? It looks like K Dot still harbors some of those feelings, as the much buzzed-about West Coast rapper has been keeping up with the retro releases-evidenced by his Air Jordan V wear here. Then again, Michael Jordan couldn’t be seen wearing the Air Jordan V “Grape” too often, so maybe this particular colorway doesn’t apply. Continue reading to see all the photos of Kendrick Lamar wearing the “Grape” Air Jordan V right after the jump.

It took a while for another Air Jordan V to hit since the White/Black-Fire Red joints released in January(so much for 2013 for being all about the Air Jordan V), but the wait was well worth it as Jordan Brand prepares to release the Air Jordan V “Grape” – the first time since the first Retro back in 2006. Later in June, Jordan Brand will pair these up with the “Black Grape”, so if you have thoughts of copping the set, you had better not miss out on this release! Take one last look below and get yours now from yellownsxt on eBay.

Rip Hamilton has more pairs of the Air Jordan V “Grape” than you. No seriously, a lot more. Shown here is Rip Hamilton harvesting the fruits of his Jordan Brand connection (Which apparently also includes apparel-check the five panel), enjoying 21 pairs of the upcoming retro release. Apparently he’s not keeping the goodies all to himself, as the “Grapes for the Fam” Instagram caption suggests that he’s spreading them around a bit. Let us know what you think in the comments section and stay tuned to see what bit of sneaker-braggadocio Hamilton comes with next.

Richard Hamilton is one of a few players left in the NBA active during Michael Jordan’s tenure with the Washington Wizards, and one of only three to have played with him there (winning NCAA and NBA championships is also quite rare). Rip’s Jumpman connection goes back even further to his days at UConn (and presumably all the way back to Coatesville). So while it might be a bit easier for him to pull a few strings, he’s still just like us in being proud of new pairs. Here we see the Chicago sharpshooter showing off two fresh Air Jordan 1 Retro High OGs, the forthcoming ‘Grape’ Vs and a new color of the Retro 1 ’93 that despite photo filters appears to be an orange-laced silvery style. Hamilton also got playful in matching a slightly older release in the ‘Chicago’ Xs to the Bulls logo, so check out all these shots below and let us know which of these you also copped.

A strange fact about the Air Jordan V “Grape” is that it’s so widely popular despite MJ never wearing them in a game. It has no special dunk or game-winner tied to it, but it was one of the first Lifestyle colorways of the Air Jordan Retro to hit the scene and was seen on Jordan’s feet on the cover of the Air Jordan Flight Collection look-book from 1990. Jordan Brand will indeed pair the Grapes with the “Black Grape” version later this year, which stands to be one of the coveted non-OG Retro releases of the year of the V. We’ve got a few weeks before the release date arrives, so check out the official Jordan Brand images below and stay tuned for a release on May 4th.

Previous “Grape” vs. “Black Grape” comparisons resulted in our readers choosing the OG over the newer Retro version, but that results is really no surprise, is it? The Air Jordan V “Black Grape” is indeed a spicy release, but we figure the upcoming Air Jordan V “Grape” will be met with equal or more fanfare – especially since these are releasing right as the nice Summer months are approaching. The official release date is roughly a month away, so peep this new set of images after the jump and let us know if these are the best Summer 2013 release!

So you’re presented with a choice of the Air Jordan V “Grape”, and its newly formed counterpart, the Air Jordan V “Black Grape”. Which do you choose? Do you stick with the original angelic white leather, or do you get drawn to the dark side and rock the all-new Black colorway? This is definitely a win-win situation, and as long as both pairs don’t release on the same, day, you might as well play on both sides and cop both pairs. Check out the side-by-side comparison below and let us know which of the two you like better!
