AIR JORDAN V The Air Jordan V released in 1990 and was designed by Tinker Hatfield. It debuted the reflective material on the tongue as well as the translucent outsole. The original colorways of the Air Jordan V is the Black/Metallic, ‘Grape’, ‘Fire Red’, and White/Black/Red.

While Victor Cruz hasn’t officially signed on as a Jordan Brand NFL athlete, he sure is doing a great job at advertising his logo on his feet free of charge. Victor Cruz, a Paterson, NJ native, was spotted sitting courtside at the Nets/Clippers game last night wearing the Air Jordan V Black/Metallic Silver Retro. Cruz, who has been all smiles since the beginning of the 2011 NFL Season, is basking his meteoric rise to fame – one that is certainly well-deserved. We’ve got some additional angles of Victor Cruz in his kicks after the jump so take a look! via sandrarose/ESPN

Credit the Air Jordan V for making several details so popular today. The translucent outsole, oversized tongue, reflective material, and lace-lock all came together on the Air Jordan V, giving enough reason to place the Air Jordan V as one of the most beloved Air Jordans of all-time. Seeing it in the tonal University Blue ‘Pantone’ Sample only accentuated the beauty at all angles, with the solid-white outsole acting as a fresh new platform for the University Blue upper. If you like the Air Jordan V ‘Black/University Blue’ of 2006, the you’ll definitely go gaga over these, so check out the gallery of this awesome Air Jordan sample after the jump and head on over to the listing from btn_16 on eBay.

Earlier this week, Nike held a Black History Month event in Portland where a few rare sneaker and art gems were auctioned off for a good cause. From the initial pics that have leaked, it’s looking like the pick of the litter was a special never before seen Air Jordan V sample. We’re all familiar with the Air Jordan V’s original fighter plane inspiration, but this 1 of 1 edition takes an appropriate BHM spin on the concept by paying tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen and specifically the “Red Tail Angels”, who’s story was detailed in the recent George Lucas film. The Red Tails were a daring escort unit back in World War II who got their name from the red paint that covered the tail end of their silver planes.
As you can see, Jordan Brand has paid homage by translating the idea into sneaker form with this Air Jordan V, featuring a silver upper and midsole with only the rear heel panel showing off a vibrant splash of red. A tonal RT-A logo is stitched into the heel with a gold Jumpman on the tongue and an ice outsole beneath offering nice some additional touches. No word on the “Red Tail” SFB Boot seen behind it in these pics, but according to NarcelX who snapped this pic, the Air Jordan V’s went for $5,000 at the auction and are the only pair in existence, so who knows if we’ll ever get another look. For now, you can check them out here, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted if more images surface.

Fat Joe was recently crowned as one of the twenty-five greatest sneakerhead celebrities of all-time, but if that list had a hard ranking, there’s no question that Joe would be, at the very least, in the Top 5. Fat Joe’s been stashing kicks for years (some of you may remember his infamous sole-licking scene in MTV Cribs), and he recently decided to show off, through Twitter, some of his Air Jordans (as well as his rudimentary counting abilities). One pair of Air Jordan 1s, two pairs of IIs, three IIIs, a quartet of IVs, and a starting line-up of Vs make up fifteen total pairs in this small peek into his massive collection. Check out Fat Joe‘s Air Jordans after the jump and let us know which of the fifteen he posted you like best!

It’s no secret that the Air Jordan ‘History Of Flight’ samples have started to flood the online re-selling market, so for every sick pair of Air Jordans we show you, let’s pinpoint some of Michael’s greatest moments that have contributed to his ‘history’. While Michael didn’t win his first NBA Championship until 1991, he came awfully close in 1990 when the Bulls lost a close seven-game series to the eventual champion Detroit Pistons. Michael remained poised and calm after losing Game 7 and addressed some of the improvements that the team could make during the offseason, and his commitment paid off as he, not Isiah Thomas, went on to the NBA Finals the following year and began the first of an eventual six-championship dynasty. While it is impossible to call any Air Jordan the best of all-time, the Air Jordan V swims in the upper tier for a number of reasons – the over-sized reflective silver tongue, the introduction of the translucent outsole, and the implementation of a lace-lock to name a few. We’ve got a detailed viewing of this rare Air Jordan sample after the jump so take a look and check out the listing from depeche23mode on eBay.

The last couple of custom creations we’ve seen from Proof Culture have focused on porting over heralded combos onto models from the Air Jordan Line. This time around the focus is on rebuilding a favorite colorway, the Air Jordan V in black/metallic silver. Deemed “not metallic enough” in its original form by Proof Culture, this remix sees a powdery silver paint applied to the uppers for the full on Terminator look. If that’s not metallic enough, we don’t know what is. The various other parts of the sneaker are left alone, letting the base shine through and preserving a bit of the DNA that first made this a classic look. Stay with us after the jump for the full photos and let us know if this Air Jordan V from Proof Culture is a hit.

Could we expect this colorway in 2013, the 23rd Anniversary of the Air Jordan V? Sneaker News first showed you this funky Air Jordan V sample back in July of 2011 – a product sample that was never produced (with just 3 pairs rumored to in existence). The combination of colors isn’t very different to what we’ve grown accustomed to (a quick glimpse and you might even mistake these as an original), but these are in fact a brand new seedling that leaked out probably in 2007 when the AJV was re-released in a wide array of colorways. the most notable feature of this sample is the translucent red outsole (something never seen in the Air Jordan V), but the red inner lining might have you wondering if this was a variant version of the original ‘Fire Red’. We’ve got a detailed set of images below (with some nice side-by-side comparisons with the actual Air Jordan V ‘Fire Red’) so take a look and check out the listing from abtmchan on eBay.

Despite 2011 being a pretty big year for the Air Jordan V, not very many of the OG colorways came back out of the woodwork. In fact, the Black/Metallic silver version was the only one to do so, leaving heaters like the ‘Fire Reds’ behind in purgatory for a few more years. Not to worry though, we’ve located a pair on eBay. Did we mention they were signed by MJ himself? That’s right, the real story here is the Sharpie scrawl towards the front end of the shoe, which serves to skyrocket both their sentimental and cash value. The sneakers are also numbered out of 23, a detail that reinforces the obvious: you won’t see something like this very often. Hit the jump to get a better look at this Michael Jordan autographed pair of ‘Fire Red’ Air Jordan V’s and check out the auction now from gulfcoastcards555 on eBay.
