Most of Jordan Brand recent Retro releases utilizing this black suede material have been absolutely on point. With that said, the upcoming Air Jordan V “Black Grape” might be one of the best releases of the year because the quality and colorway have combined to create a perfect Retro+ colorway (much like the Air Jordan IV “Cavs” of last year). It’s really the perfect colorway for Grape-lovers who are looking for another vine to pick off from, and although a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, there’s no doubt that this 2013 release is going to be in the cross-hairs for sneakerheads around the globe. A detailed look is just below so flip through the gallery and let us know if these are a better draw than the OG Grapes.

The “South Beach” theme has died down just a little bit in popularity, as it’s not too terribly often that we see that pinked out look hit on a pair of sneakers these days. Utilizing the closely related “Miami Vice” them is this new Air Jordan V creation from the workshop of Smooth Tip. The pair even goes so far as to emulate the carbon fiber treatment of the Nike LeBron 9 Elite that it’s inspired by, painting the back panel to look like that tough as nails texture. Stay with us after the jump for a couple more angles on the Air Jordan V “Miami Vice” from Smooth Tip and tell us if they did the OG “Miami Vice” model justice.

Richard Hamilton is one of a few players left in the NBA active during Michael Jordan’s tenure with the Washington Wizards, and one of only three to have played with him there (winning NCAA and NBA championships is also quite rare). Rip’s Jumpman connection goes back even further to his days at UConn (and presumably all the way back to Coatesville). So while it might be a bit easier for him to pull a few strings, he’s still just like us in being proud of new pairs. Here we see the Chicago sharpshooter showing off two fresh Air Jordan 1 Retro High OGs, the forthcoming ‘Grape’ Vs and a new color of the Retro 1 ’93 that despite photo filters appears to be an orange-laced silvery style. Hamilton also got playful in matching a slightly older release in the ‘Chicago’ Xs to the Bulls logo, so check out all these shots below and let us know which of these you also copped.

The debate of the better “Grape” release of 2013 has viciously pitted the Air Jordan V “Grape” and the “Black Grape” against one another like a Spy vs. Spy battle, but we know that most of the readers chiming in with opinions have every intention of copping both! Can you blame them? Remixed OG colorways aren’t exactly widely embraced, but this blacked-out version of the original Grapes (in nubuck, no less) has us excited with just cause. Another detailed look is below so give them a review in a new (and better) light and we’ll have release info for you soon enough.

One of the craziest turn of events this year was the news of the Air Jordan V “CP3″ – the LA Clippers colorway of the Air Jordan V that featured the “3″ logo stitched on the heel. These PE-style of releases can only mean one thing – super-limited distribution and a massive crowd wanting to cop a pair. No word on how limited these will be or if these are a PE for Chris Paul only, but we know our readers are yearning for a pair based on the response we got when we first showed them to you. We’ve got another shot of them below, sitting side-by-side with another Air Jordan V grail, so let us know if you’ll be on the hunt for these because we’ll keep you updated on all the release info.

It appears that the massive “XX8 Days of Flight” set of Air Jordans given away by Jordan Brand has finally begun to make its way into the hands of the winners. You’ll recall that entry involved snapping a pic of yourself on Instagram using #XX8DaysofFlight wearing the Air Jordan model corresponding to that day. The black and green sneakers have popped up across Instagram, as the lucky Air Jordan enthusiasts who received their pairs have been eager to show them off (and it looks like Jordan Brand unknowingly selected one user to receive two pairs). Now that the pairs are out there, it will be a test of will power to see who ends up keeping these one of a kind sneakers in their personal collection and who ends up taking the “other” route to cash out, although the 1-of-1 factor might be to tough to let go! Check out most of the Air Jordan “XX8 Days of Flight” pairs that have been doled out right after the jump and tell us in the comments which pair is your favorite.

A strange fact about the Air Jordan V “Grape” is that it’s so widely popular despite MJ never wearing them in a game. It has no special dunk or game-winner tied to it, but it was one of the first Lifestyle colorways of the Air Jordan Retro to hit the scene and was seen on Jordan’s feet on the cover of the Air Jordan Flight Collection look-book from 1990. Jordan Brand will indeed pair the Grapes with the “Black Grape” version later this year, which stands to be one of the coveted non-OG Retro releases of the year of the V. We’ve got a few weeks before the release date arrives, so check out the official Jordan Brand images below and stay tuned for a release on May 4th.

Previous “Grape” vs. “Black Grape” comparisons resulted in our readers choosing the OG over the newer Retro version, but that results is really no surprise, is it? The Air Jordan V “Black Grape” is indeed a spicy release, but we figure the upcoming Air Jordan V “Grape” will be met with equal or more fanfare – especially since these are releasing right as the nice Summer months are approaching. The official release date is roughly a month away, so peep this new set of images after the jump and let us know if these are the best Summer 2013 release!
