Apparently Michael Crabtree isn’t the only San Francisco 49er getting love from the likes of Jordan Brand. This recent shot of the NFC Champions has every player in sight dipped in the recent Air Jordan V white/fire red/black retro right before boarding the plane to New Orleans for their Super Bowl bid. Didn’t anyone tell them that they were a couple days late for the Air Jordan V day from the XX8 Days of Flight series? Hit the jump for the full photo and stay tuned should Michael Crabtree hit the Super Bowl next Sunday with even more special footwear.

On January 21st, Jordan Brand began the #XX8DaysofFlight campaign, counting down all of the game-changing and history-making Air Jordans leading up to the debut of the Air Jordan XX8. With the entire 2013 calendar year being a milestone 23rd anniversary for the Air Jordan V, we can definitely expect a slew of Retro releases of original colorways, starting as soon as tomorrow with the release of the ‘Fire Red’. The most re-released Air Jordan V, however, is the iconic Black/Metallic Silver colorway, which hit stores in 2000, 2007, and 2011 – and another drop in 2013 isn’t entirely out of the question. With that said, let’s take a closer look at three generations of Air Jordan V Retros on Day 5 of the Jordan Brand #XX8DaysofFlight.

As of today the XX8 Days of Flight collection of Air Jordans moves on to the Air Jordan V, and into an exciting string of icy soled sneakers. The gooey green look on the bottom is one we’ve seen before on the Air Jordan V ‘Quai 54′, the only release out there that looks even remotely like what’s going on with this pair. Also interesting is the inclusion of the ’23′ embroidery on back, a little detail that we’ve seen weave in and out of retro pairs for some years now. Check back later in the day for an additional view of the sneaks and make sure to show off your Air Jordan V wears today on Twitter and Instagram using the #XX8DaysofFlight hashtag.

There hasn’t been any confirmation just yet, but we can guess that the original Black/Metallic Silver colorway of the Air Jordan V will make a return in 2013, joining the White/Black/Red, Grape, and any other OG Air Jordan V re-issue this year. We’ve seen reiterations of this model several times over the years, starting with the ’99 Nike Air Retro, the 2007 and 2011 re-issues, and the limited-edition Premio, so would we welcome yet another release? Let’s take a look back at one of the rarest 5s ever made – the ’23′ PE that was created just for Michael Jordan; this particular version comes with the original box and attached Jordan hang-tag, which could hint at what the 2013 Retro may return as. A full gallery of this rare PE is just below so take a look and head to the full listing from cnoriega_2007 on eBay.

Entirely quiet for almost a month as a ton of big Sneaker News hit the wire, an original Air Jordan V colorway is set for a retro release this Saturday. A reminder of the last season before Michael Jordan was crowned king of the NBA, the ‘Fire Red’ Air Jordan 5 flashes back to 1990 with a white leather build plus black midsole and red on branding elements like the V’s signature ‘shark teeth’, lacelocks and the reflective tongue’s Jumpman. Have a look below to remind you of Saturday, January 26th’s big releases and let us know which of the day’s drops tops your list.

If you’re new to the Air Jordan game, you probably have a whole lot of catching up to do. With nearly every original Air Jordan already gone through the Retro cycle (with a few making several comebacks), the available options to build your Air Jordan collection could keep you busy for months – or you can cop this sick 97-pair collection in one fell swoop. This particular lot includes only the Air Jordan 1 through Air Jordan XIII in sizes 10.5-11.0, but nearly every pair brand spankin’ new and there’s some serious heat in here (’94 Retros, Eminem IIs, the original DMP, etc.). The asking price, however, is at $45,000, which boils down to $463.92 per pair, but the comfort of completing a sick library of Air Jordans in just one click might be too tempting if you have that sort of dough to spare (free shipping, though). Check out the entire collection below, and be sure to check the full listing from babiiicakes26 on eBay.

Everything we’ve seen so far from the 2013 return of the Air Jordan V has been an original colorway. But let’s just imagine that there was some room for new colorways in there as well, would the Air Jordan V ‘Blackout’ be one that you’d be interested in? The sneaker first showed up towards the tail end of last year alongside a handful of similarly lights out-style Air Jordan V samples, this one taking the look to the furthest degree. Hit the jump for more on the all black Air Jordan V and then check out the auction for this wear-test sample now from brandspankinnew23 on eBay.
