Now hold up I ain’t trying to stunt man/but the Yeezys jumped over the Jumpman
That Kanye claim was first made on his recently released track New Gold Flow, appropriately echoed last night as him and the GOOD Music team performed a gang of tracks at the 2012 BET Awards. And while we’re not making any claims that ‘Ye is anywhere close to Mike’s line as far as importance in the sneaker world, you wouldn’t know it by looking at the celebrity crowd in attendance for the award show on the weekend. Kevin Hart wore the Nike Air Yeezy 2 ‘Pure Platinum’ as did Kanye, with Wale and Spike Lee both wearing the ‘Black/Solar Red’ at one point or other. Separating himself from saturation of his second Nike design Kanye even broke out a sample pair of Nike Air Yeezy 1′s to prove his footwear prowess. Of course Wale, self described as “Mr. never wear the same thing” had a nice switch up as well when he brought out some unreleased heat in the form of the Nike Air Penny V ‘Phoenix Suns’. Click through for all the shots of those guys and more including Stalley, Jamie Foxx, and Big Sean after the jump and let us know who had the best sneaker game at the 2012 BET Awards. Photos: Zimbio

Will any of Team USA’s roster members wear the Air Jordan VI ‘Olympic’ during the games? Count out Jordan Brand athlete Dwyane Wade, who will opt to rehab over the offseason, but perhaps guys like Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony will rotate these babies with their signature shoes. It seems like the return couldn’t have arrived at more opportune time, as this Summer will house an elevated level of nationalism when the red, white, and blue come together as one to take on the world during this August’s Games. Expect these at Jordan Brand retailers like socialstatus next Saturday, but if you just can’t wait, secure your pair right now on eBay.

Sneaker News showed you the 2002 lowtop edition earlier this week as part of our Classics Revisited spotlight on lowtop Air Jordans, but pictured above is another white and blue AJ6 that made also its debut in the early ’00s. Ray Allen helped USA Basketball claim another gold medal in Sydney, and now the 20th anniversary of Michael Jordan and the original Dream Team makes the perfect occasion to bring the ‘Olympic’ Air Jordan VI out of retirement after twelve years. Much like the teams with whom MJ and Sugar Ray won their golds in ’92 and 2000, respectively, 2012′s ‘Olympic’ Sixes are joined by an ensemble cast of Air Jordan Retros this summer, so you might want to make it easier on your summertime sneaker shopping plans by scooping up an early pair from 95soleman on eBay.

All our attention is on the upcoming string of Olympic-themed Air Jordan releases like the ‘Golden Moments’ Pack and a re-issues of classic Air Jordan Olympic colorways, like the Air Jordan VI ‘Olympic’. Looks like BET 106 & Park host Terrence J got a jump on things, because he was recently spotted wearing the upcoming Retro release during Monday’s taping of the show, which featured guest Ne-Yo. Terrence J’s on-screen sneaker rotation has embodied all of what’s ‘hot’, forcing the question of “is he a real sneakerhead?”, but his mid-March sighting of the Air Jordan IX ‘Olive’ might’ve answered that question for us. More of Terrence’s kicks below, so take a look and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more Celebrity Feet features!

Just because you won’t be attending school this summer doesn’t mean you’ll have a break from getting up early and filing into a huge public building filled with your peers. To the contrary, you might end up filling the dog days with a job so you can keep up with the other Jordanheads lining up to cop heat this Olympic summer. We’ll be getting two each of the Air Jordan VI and Air Jordan VII Retros as both models’ ‘Olympic’ colorups return along with a brand new ‘Gold Medal’ Package that’ll become the first double-drop since 2010′s ‘Raging Bull’ DMP (a duo that produced the Sneaker News readers’ choice for the greatest non-OG Air Jordan colorway ever). The first two are already certified classics; will the ‘Gold Medal’ Pack join them in your Mt. Rushomre of Air Jordans? Let us know which of these is a must-have this summer and stick with Sneaker News as we approach one heckuva six-week stretch in July/August. Photos: 23penny

Returning as part of ‘Pack’ is the Air Jordan VI in ‘Gold Medal’ form as well as another familiar colorway – the ‘Olympic’ that was worn by Ray Allen during the 2000 Olympics. One of the biggest stories this week came in the form of a clear viewing of the Air Jordan Gold Medal Pack, comprised of the Air Jordan VI and VII in a Gold Medal-inspired set of colorways emanating Michael’s victory on the international stage. Despite how great that Pack may be, some have already come to the conclusion that the Air Jordan VI ‘Olympic’ is the must-have Air Jordan release of the Olympic Games, and although Jordan Brand presents this Retro with a slight alteration on the midsole, these may be every bit as good as the 2000 original. Peep this detailed look below and let us know if these are the top Olympic-inspired Air Jordans of the year. Photos: kickz-lab
