The original Defining Moments Package by Jordan Brand (and the first ever two-pair set in general) consisted of the Air Jordan VI and Air Jordan XI, signifying the two chapters in Michael’s illustrious careers that told the two stories of ‘threepeat beginnings’. And Air Jordan VI/XI hybrid might be stepping out of bounds into the territory of sacrilege, but there are acceptable ways of combining the two, like this great custom pair of sneakers done by LOBE. Structurally, the shoe is entirely ‘Air Jordan VI’, but the colorway is taken straight from the legendary ‘Bred’ of the Air Jordan XI, complete with retreated uppers of patent leather and ballistic mesh (or, close reinterpretations). The Air Jordan VI continues to be the go-to Air Jordan custom model, but can you blame it? Check out the gallery below and let us know what you think!

AIR JORDAN LOW WEEK
When we kicked off Air Jordan Low week here in the Classics Revisited column just yesterday it was with the Air Jordan XI Low. Now we know that model is far from the first Air Jordan Low to ever hit shelves (recall the even the original Air Jordan 1 had some low versions floating around) but the model nonetheless served as the harbinger of a new era of drop top retro models. It was very much a sign of things to come, a fair warning by the Jordan Brand folks that any given legacy series silhouette could end up popping up with a bit less height than the world was used to at the time. And how did they follow up the dizzying spell of patent leather lows from 2001? By moving on to another of the more highly heralded models, the Air Jordan VI.
The main casualty of the transition from Air Jordan VI to Air Jordan VI Low was the jumbo tongue of the original silhouette, absent on its younger brother that pretty much stopped things right after the Jumpman overlay on the lacing system. Arriving just a year after the blue based Air Jordan XI Low was this Air Jordan VI Low that took a similar approach colorway wise, with the two bearing the nearly same box description save for the university blue utilized on the Air Jordan VI Low in place of the columbia blue of the Air Jordan XI Low. Again taking after the example set by the Air Jordan XI Lows of the previous year, this set arrived in a gang of colorways not entirely foreign to the Air Jordan repertoire at large, but certainly new to the Air Jordan VI (with the university blue here also surrounded by a chrome and a pink pair in April of 2002). Click through to check out this and the rest of the Air Jordan VI Lows from 2002 and let us know if you’ve still got an icy pair tucked away in the closet. Also, be sure to check back with us at the same time tomorrow for more from Classics Revisited’s homage to the Air Jordan Low this week.

Think Pink is an Italian sportswear label that’s been around for well over three decades, but thanks to Nike Basketball, the vast majority of fashion references to that phrase in recent years have been sneakers designed to promote breast cancer awareness. And with the popularity of exuberant styles like the infamous ‘South Beach’ palette as well as the Air Yeezy line, pink is getting more shine on (mens) kicks than ever before. Here we see the trend reach another level as the beloved (by color-swappers and collectors alike) Air Jordan VI takes on an all-pink look including a ribbon on the lateral heel. Click through to get a better look at the latest DeJesus Customs and let us know how they compare to the best Air Jordan 6 color-swaps we’ve seen here on Sneaker News.

Before their recent turnaround, the Oakland Raiders had been mismanaged so badly for a decade that a team known for its ‘Commitment to Excellence’ became one of the NFL’s laughing stocks. Randy Moss proved how much effort matters at the highest levels of competition, Jamarcus Russell dealt with more cold symptoms than any healthy young man should and Warren Sapp quietly slipped into retirement after having dominated the league during his tenure in Tampa. But even if the QB Killa didn’t live up to his Hall of Fame reputation during his time spent with the team against which he won his Super Bowl ring, that stretch in Oakland most definitely included highlight cleats. This Air Jordan VI PE in white/silver is the spiked version of a design we’d seen a little over a year ago with a more turf-oriented cleat design, this Raiders-colored 14.5 utilizing the familiar ‘Shark’ sole that we’ve seen evolve along with Nike Football over the years. Check them out in greater detail below, let us know if you foresee a Raiders playoff bid in the future and stick with Sneaker News for more rare Air Jordan player exclusives like these Warren Sapp AJ6 Cleats available now from jenswi13 on eBay.

Will the Nike Air Yeezy 2 launch this past weekend wind up as the single biggest sneaker story of 2012? We’ll look back from the precipice of ’13 remembering how the second Kanye West x Nike Sportswear release melted a corner of the internet, and barring a surprise on the order of the Nike Mag or something extra special from Jordan Brand, Mr. West’s best yet is a safe bet to top all the year-end best-of lists. A huge part of the Air Yeezy 2′s sweeping success is its exclusivity and how tough it is to get a pair, but could we ever see a bizarro world where Yeezys are so limited Ye himself can’t even get a pair? That’s the premise for Ree’s latest Sn’eads cartoon, one that includes the latest Kanye in Air Jordan VIs sighting. Have a look at the video in full after the jump, let us know if you been had Yeezy 2s and let us know if you’ve had any luck grabbing a pair in the aftermath of Saturday’s launch.

What’s your favorite “Golden Moment” of Michael Jordan’s career? Don’t limit yourself to just the Olympics (because he only played once as an NBA pro in ’92). Is it his first NBA Championship? 63 points against the C’s? The Double-Nickel against the Knicks? His game-tying fadeaway jumper in the 2003 NBA All-Star Game? Pointing out that one moment would be next to impossible, so let’s leave the tributes to Jordan Brand, who will pay homage not only to MJ, but also to Ray Allen, who earned himself a Gold Medal in the 2000 Olympics (that’s where the Air Jordan VI comes in). But now that we’ve seen detailed angles of both the Air Jordan VI and the VII, which of the two do you prefer? That’s another tough choice to make, so flip through the gallery and let us know.
