AIR JORDAN VII The Air Jordan VII released in 1992 and was designed by Tinker Hatfield. The design was inspired by African tribal art. Some of the most popular releases are the ‘Bordeaux’, ‘Raptors’, and ‘Olympic’. Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan VII during the 1992 Olympics.

Joe Johnson had a bit of a rough go during last night’s game against the Boston Celtics, but unlike some of his opponents, he kept his cool and his team now owns a 1-0 lead in their First Round Playoff Series. His sneaker selections this season has been a consistent cycle of random sneakers, like the Jumpan Pro, a Six Rings PE, and even the Jordan Prime 5, but how sick would it be if he whipped out these Air Jordan VIII Player Exclusives? Just wearing ‘em would give him a jolt of power, calling on the spirit of MJ in the ’93 Playoffs when he led the Bulls to a three-peat completion. We’ve got some nice angles of this sick PE below so check ‘em out and hopefully Joe takes note and whips out some Air Jordan PEs for Game 2. Want to add these to your own stash? Just because you won’t be attending school this summer doesn’t mean you’ll have a break from getting up early and filing into a huge public building filled with your peers. To the contrary, you might end up filling the dog days with a job so you can keep up with the other Jordanheads lining up to cop heat this Olympic summer. We’ll be getting two each of the Air Jordan VI and Air Jordan VII Retros as both models’ ‘Olympic’ colorups return along with a brand new ‘Gold Medal’ Package that’ll become the first double-drop since 2010′s ‘Raging Bull’ DMP (a duo that produced the Sneaker News readers’ choice for the greatest non-OG Air Jordan colorway ever). The first two are already certified classics; will the ‘Gold Medal’ Pack join them in your Mt. Rushomre of Air Jordans? Let us know which of these is a must-have this summer and stick with Sneaker News as we approach one heckuva six-week stretch in July/August. Photos: 23penny

With 2012 marking the 20th Anniversary of the legendary Dream Team of 1992, Nike and Jordan Brand is going full throttle with Olympic-inspired releases in order to make 2012 on of the most memorable sneaker years in history. Nike’s got the Dream Team Collection on lock, but Jordan Brand will up the ante by bringing back the Air Jordan VII ‘Olympic’ while introducing yet another Air Jordan Package dubbed the ‘Gold Medal’ Pack; it features the Air Jordan VII (the model worn by MJ during the ’92 Dream Team run) as well as the Air Jordan VI (worn by the original Team Jordan athlete Ray Allen during the 2000 Games) with Gold at its core. Here we have a look at the Pack releases side by side, so the question is: Which of the two do you like better? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to Sneaker News for updates as we near the August 18th release. Photo: jstforkicks22 on ISS

This August, Team USA will set out to repeat what the magical Dream Team of 1992 did – win the Gold medal in completely dominant fashion. After 2004′s disappointing outcome (when the U.S. won the Bronze), Team USA has been a bit reticent in crowning themselves Gold medal favorites, even after the nation redeemed itself in 2008. This year’s Olympic squad is undoubtedly one of the best we’ve ever seen, and with three Jordan Brand signature athletes likely joining the roster, there’s a good chance that we’ll see the Air Jordan VII ‘Olympic’ back on the international stage. Will you cop on July 21st? Peep this new gallery below and let us know what your predictions are for Team USA this August. Photos: airrandyhk

Making yet another comeback this Fall 2012 season is the Air Jordan VII in the original ‘Dark Charcoal’ colorway. It adopted the ‘Raptors’ nickname after its 2002 reprisal, and continued to be a major hit when it released in 2009 as part of the Air Jordan VII Defining Moments Pack. Sneaker News already filled you in on the September release, but it look like we’ve got an exact date set; September 1st is the date to circle on your calendar, which falls right at the start of the school year! Are these a must-have for you? Let us know in the comments area below, and we’ll keep you up to date on more Air Jordan releases.

It seems like Ray Allen’s PE output has grown exponentially over the years, with his current Celtics colored sneaks probably taking up the lion’s share of the group. The PE we’ve got a look at here is extra special in that regard, showing that even in his earliest days in the NBA Ray was a beast on the PE scene. These Air Jordan VII PE’s from his time with the Milwaukee Bucks sport his number up towards the ankle and a beautiful midnight navy leather for the upper, matching with their unis pre 2006. Stay with us after the jump to get an in depth look at this crazy player exclusive find and check out the auction for the Air Jordan VII Ray Allen Milwaukee Bucks PE from cnoriega_2007 on eBay.

In our last preview of the Air Jordan VII Retro ‘Olympic’ slated for July, we noted that 2004 and ’10 releases preceding these makes this particular colorway one of the most commonly seen OGs over the years. And to this point in history, most of our previews of the forthcoming drop have been grade school sizes, made evident by their five eyelets below the ankle (the mens have six). But with the rest of the shoe a spot-on reproduction of the original (none of the midsole re-blocking we expect on the AJ6 ‘Olympic’), these kids prototypes provide a good sense of what to expect when these hit retailers on July 21st. Check these out in greater detail after the jump and let us know how you’re going to handle the Olympic heatwave Jordan Brand will roll out during this summer. via Air-Randy

Although they’re not a part of Jordan Brand’s ‘Gold Medal’ Pack of Air Jordan VIs and VIIs coming up in August, the above pictured pair of Sevens is the most direct Dream Team tribute they have on tap for this summer. The Air Jordan VII Retro ‘Olympic’ brings back a colorway that Michael wore to victory in Barcelona in 1992, one that made its presence felt twelve years later around the Athens Games, and again just two years ago in a ‘For the Love of the Game’ variant. That kind of frequency makes these one of the most commonly seen colorways outside of the bred AJ1s, but the memories they evoke ensure that these will sell out in July even as sneakerheads eagerly anticipate the brand new double-package one month later. Click through to get a look at this grade school sized pair (essentially identical with one less eyelet) and stick with Sneaker News for updates on this July 21st release. via Air-Randy
