Not to say that every year isn’t filled with exciting releases from the Jumpman, but next year in particular will be a big one thanks to the brand celebrating its 30th anniversary. Another notable addition to the already busy year is the fact that the Air Jordan 7 will be getting the nod as a featured retro thanks to its 23rd anniversary (much like Mike’s Air Jordan 6 this year). It looks like the Jumpman wants the silhouette to spread its influence to the field, as the seventh signature will be getting its own cleat form. This pair keeps things simple with a black leather base and contrasting grey tongue while the branding gets struck with white. Are you excited about the prospect of the Air Jordan VII becoming a cleat much like other models have in the past? Stick around after the click for a better view and let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

air jordan 10 red black grey spring 2015 2 Air Jordan Retros To Be Remastered Beginning Spring 2015

Jordan Brand has answered the calls for higher quality Air Jordan retros with their “remastering” of the line that’s being prepped for Spring 2015. This newly unveiled initiative is part of a concerted effort to work closer with factories to produce sneakers that sport the shape, stitching, lines, and the like that are uniform and up to the quality demanded by their “engineered to the exact specifications of championship athletes” motto (Or briefly, as close to “OG” as possible). Included in the range will be the Air Jordan 4, Air Jordan 7, and the Air Jordan 10 for Spring 2015 – particularly the “Columbia”, “French Blue”, and a new Red/Black/Grey colorway in respective order.

A new focus on quality will mean a price increase though – expect a jump from “10%-15% depending on the model”. This is certainly great news for those who cherish the original quality of Air Jordans, so see get a preview of these 2015 Jordans and then head to Sole Collector to read more on the upcoming remastering of Jordan Brand in their 30th anniversary year.

best jordan retros Close Calls: 10 Air Jordan Retros That Could Pass as OGs

With Air Jordans and just about every other sneaker you’d want to collect, the original releases are among the most valuable. OG Jordans have the mystique of premium quality from a bygone era. The top-notch materials themselves along with the fact that those classic pairs feature the ‘NIKE AIR’ branding that remains elusive on Retros, means that serious sneakerheads have either worn or stockpiled every pair out there with demand well exceeding supply. Just a few days ago, we saw the asking price for an original set of Air Jordan VIs with fully wearable sole swaps average over $1000/pair.

Nike Huarache History: The Evolution of Tinker’s Neoprene Sneakers

nike huarache history Nike Huarache History: The Evolution of Tinkers Neoprene Sneakers

The Nike Huarache line is another of those timeless Nike collections that we have Tinker Hatfield to thank for. The sneakers first landed back in 1991 in the form of the Nike Air Huarache, that runner that was one of the earliest examples of Nike willfully creating a sneaker that was “stripped to the bare essentials”, as the vintage ad copy claims. That stripping also manifested in the branding used – Tinker and co. scaled back the Swoosh coverage to create something that could better rest on the laurels of its technology. That technology was one that actually was in danger of not making it to retail at one point in production; the legend goes that Nike was weary of bringing the model to market, but a test run sold at the NYC Marathon in the early 90s had runners clamoring for the model and it was in turn given the greenlight.

air tech challenge jordan 7 custom Air Jordan 7 Air Tech Challenge 3/4 Customs by Ramses

The whole Air Tech Challenge line of Nikes is getting plenty of love this year, as the brand seems more than happy to remind customers of their heritage in the tennis category now that they’ve got Agassi back on board. Also reminding folks of the heritage is this Air Jordan 7 custom pair, which wears a print borrowed from 1992′s Air Tech Challenge IV or Air Tech Challenge 3/4. We’ve seen a couple of Nike Sportswear releases pick up on Agassi prints this year, but we’d still assume that a Jordan Brand cross-over is pretty far out of the realm of possibility. Continue reading to get a better look at the 7s and tell us if you like this Ramses creation.
