Sneaker customizers are well aware that messing around with elephant print is no easy task. We’ll go ahead and say that no sneaker customer has ever gotten that crackle-graphic down pat, so we’ll appreciate anyone who attacks it without fear. This latest sneaker custom by DeJesus is an attempt at ‘Black/Cement’, made historic by the Air Jordan III, on an Air Jordan VII; the VII is typically done in tonal style, but DeJesus manages to bring that two-toned element to the upper with a respectable finish of elephant print. More angles of this sneaker custom below, so take a look and let us know what you think of the concept for this model.

With the debut of the NBA’s Nets franchise in the borough of Brooklyn just a few short weeks away, Mache275 completed a new Air Jordan custom inspired by their new team logo using a past colorway of the model. Based on 2006′s ‘Chambray’, Mache takes the funky geometric pattern on the tongue onto the upper, creating an amazing never-before-done two-tone contrast with the black upper. He completes the custom with the new Nets logo on the heel, with a special logo for his pal kiccz, for whom this custom was built for. Another few shots of yet another Mache banger is right ahead, so give it a look and let us know what you think.

Spike Lee’s devotion to Michael Jackson’s legacy was shown yesterday when he not only attended the Bad 25 event in Toronto, but wore a pair of Air Jordan custom sneakers commemorating the iconic album. This custom sneaker was done by Van Monroe, who actually did another Air Jordan custom for Spike Lee in the form of a Son of Mars representing ‘Red Hook Summer’. It’s not entirely clear of Van Monroe has become Spike’s personal producer of custom kicks, but it’s clear the two have some sort of connection going on! Check out the Air Jordan VII ‘Bad 25′ Customs as well as some shots of Spike at the event below and let us know what you think.

When the Air Jordan X ‘Fresh Prince’ customs popped up they invoked an immediate wave of nostalgia, paying homage to that Will Smith TV role that continues to be relevant even for the youngsters of today thanks to Nick at Nite reruns and the like. Up next is one that’s just a bit more obscure, an Air Jordan VII paying homage to A Different World, a spinoff of The Cosby Show that centered around the college career of Denise Huxtable. The base of the Air Jordan VII ‘Raptors’ is reworked here with a bunch of busy graphics on the upper, with patterns pointing to the outfits of Dwayne Wayne and roommate Ron. Click through with us for the full shots and let us know if you think this Air Jordan VII custom is a proper tribute to this 90s sitcom. Also, check out the current price on the Air Jordan VII ‘A Different World’ customs now from niftnif1990 on eBay.

Michael Jordan’s greatness can be counted by all the historic moments and god-like accomplishments throughout his career. But even he’ll tell you that during some of these occurrences, there was no explaining as to how it was happening; it’s almost like an out-of-body experience of being in the zone, something that we’ve all at one point or another have been stuck in, whether its with shooting hoops, playing a video game, or doing some sort of repetitive, menial task. Sneaker News: Was It The Shoes? continues tonight with another look at a major moment in Michael Jordan’s career – the infamous ‘Shrug’ from Game 1 of the 1992 NBA Finals. Continue on for the full story, and don’t forget to catch the earlier Was It The Shoes? features if you’ve missed them!

The associations between Rajon Rondo and the Nike Basketball Hyperfuse series are as strong as Rorschach and ink blots, but just like pretty much every guy in the NBA right now, Rondo grew up idolizing Michael Jordan. One of the players who helped to promote NBA2K11 by reliving some of MJ’s greatest moments continued to reimagine history over in the Philippines, where Rondo rocked the ‘Olympic’ Air Jordan VII Retro (and matching Dream Team ’92 shorts) during a stop on the Red Bull King of Rock Tour. Now that Ray Allen has departed Beantown, might pro basketball’s richest legacy need a new Jumpman on board? Stick with Sneaker News to see what Rondo and the rest of the NBA and NCAA’s elite talents rock this season and check out Rajon sporting a different kind of ’9′ after the jump below.

This might be the closest thing to a gold-dipped Air Jordan we’ve ever seen, but there’s no surprise that it’s a custom, right? This latest banger from El Cappy reconstitutes ‘Golden Moment‘ (with an emphasis on gold) for a tonal upper and black contrast for a Premio-like level of luxury. The laces have been replaced with a shimmering golden rope, and the midsole ‘peaks’ have been switched to a solid gold as well to complete the exquisite nature of a true gold-dipped shoe, leaving us to wonder if maybe this type of design should’ve been the true ‘Golden Moment’ release. According to El Cappy, these were a custom order for hip-hop act A$AP Rocky, which Cappy notes with the custom heel-badges. More of this amazing custom work below, so give it a look and let us know if you think this version is better than the Golden Moments release!
