air jordan unreleased samples through the years Unreleased Air Jordan Samples Through The Years

Over the years we’ve seen some amazing (and questionable) colorways of Air Jordans and Air Jordan Retros surface on the web. In fact, there might be as many unreleased mock-ups as there are produced versions, but who knows what’s really stowed in the deep dark vaults inside the Jordan Brand headquarters and overseas factories? We’ve compiled a fairly thorough gallery of some notable Air Jordan sample colorways that have never seen the light of day at retail; some of these already have noted legends behind them, like the Air Jordan VI “Infrared” Retro with the flipped midsole and the Air Jordan V “Gold” that may or may not have been made for an employee, but some of the stuff we’ve come across cause us to question why the shoes were never released, or why they were created in the first place! Of course, this gallery isn’t a complete list of every unreleased sample, but take a moment to skim through the gallery below and let us know which unreleased Air Jordan sample catches your eyes the most.

Nick Cannon proved just how much of a cannon he’s got on him yesterday, throwing out the first pitch at a Cubs/Cardinals matchup. He also brought some Air Jordans along with him-the Air Jordan VIII “Bugs”. Now if he wanted to keep things really MJ with it, Nick should have went with the Air Jordan X as a little nod to Mike’s time on the mound but hey-we can respect the choice. Continue reading for the photos of Nick Cannon wearing his new Air Jordan VIIIs and let us know in the comments if you’re using yours for any cross-sport activities as well.

air jordan viii suns citysole Air Jordan VIII Suns Arriving at Retailers

Dropping next weekend is the first Retro colorway of the Air Jordan VIII – a mix of Black/Bright Citrus-Cool Grey-Deep Royal Blue that has adopted the “Suns” nickname. The connection between the Suns and the Air Jordan VIII is that this is the model that Jordan wore during the ’93 NBA Finals, downing Barkley and Suns in six games. Although Deep Royal Blue isn’t an exact match to the rich purple in the Suns unis, we can definitely assert this colorway to that 1993 match-up! More photos below, so take a look and be sure to keep your eye out for these on May 18th as these are beginning to arrive at retailers like Citysole.

Air Jordan VIII Retro “Playoffs”

air jordan viii retro playoffs Air Jordan VIII Retro Playoffs

The Air Jordan VIII will always be remembered as the final Air Jordan shoe Michael wore before his sudden retirement. He certainly got some good use out of the shoes thanks to the epic 6-game battle between the Bulls and Charles Barkley’s Phoenix Suns, and alongside this past weekend’s “Bugs” release and these “Playoffs”, Jordan Brand even has a “Suns” colorway coming to more or less commemorate that amazing showdown. The current focus is indeed on this OG colorway though, with “Playoffs” being the appointed nickname for the shoes that Michael wore for the most of the postseason, and while a release date hasn’t been confirmed (likely June, considering the Suns are dropping in May), these are definitely at the top of the radar for future sneaker pick-ups. Enjoy the new detailed gallery below and stay tuned for more updates.

Had Nike not moved forward with the Air Jordan line after MJ’s first retirement, the Air Jordan VIII would have been the last model of the signature line. The cross-strapped model with wild graphic prints on the mudguard is simply one of the most visually stunning Air Jordans ever created by Tinker, and tomorrow we begin the next wave of Retro Eights as the original “Bugs” colorway hits Jordan Brand retailers. These are likely to disappear fast, so don’t forget yours by copping a pair from shoejocky on eBay.

Air Jordan VIII Low – Mike Bibby Sacramento Kings “Away” PE

air jordan 8 low mike bibby kings pe Air Jordan VIII Low Mike Bibby Sacramento Kings Away PE

Mike Bibby and Derek Anderson are two Jordan Brand athletes that have dominated the low-top Air Jordan PE category throughout that era of the brand. DA’s pairs don’t really come across us often as Mike Bibby’s does, and although we’ve seen the Air Jordan VIII Low bearing his “10″ before, we get a rather interesting view of the Purple/Black mudguard and the mismatched inner lining of the shoes. It would’ve been amazing if the inner lining was given the Sac Kings treatment as well, but that’s a process a bit too painstaking for a simple PE, don’t you think? More photos below, so take a look and check out the listing from snkrpimp on eBay.

air jordan xx8daysofflight winners Air Jordan #XX8DaysOfFlight Winners

It appears that the massive “XX8 Days of Flight” set of Air Jordans given away by Jordan Brand has finally begun to make its way into the hands of the winners. You’ll recall that entry involved snapping a pic of yourself on Instagram using #XX8DaysofFlight wearing the Air Jordan model corresponding to that day. The black and green sneakers have popped up across Instagram, as the lucky Air Jordan enthusiasts who received their pairs have been eager to show them off (and it looks like Jordan Brand unknowingly selected one user to receive two pairs). Now that the pairs are out there, it will be a test of will power to see who ends up keeping these one of a kind sneakers in their personal collection and who ends up taking the “other” route to cash out, although the 1-of-1 factor might be to tough to let go! Check out most of the Air Jordan “XX8 Days of Flight” pairs that have been doled out right after the jump and tell us in the comments which pair is your favorite.
