Richard Hamilton is one of a few players left in the NBA active during Michael Jordan’s tenure with the Washington Wizards, and one of only three to have played with him there (winning NCAA and NBA championships is also quite rare).  Rip’s Jumpman connection goes back even further to his days at UConn (and presumably all the way back to Coatesville).  So while it might be a bit easier for him to pull a few strings, he’s still just like us in being proud of new pairs.  Here we see the Chicago sharpshooter showing off two fresh Air Jordan 1 Retro High OGs, the forthcoming ‘Grape’ Vs and a new color of the Retro 1 ’93 that despite photo filters appears to be an orange-laced silvery style.  Hamilton also got playful in matching a slightly older release in the ‘Chicago’ Xs to the Bulls logo, so check out all these shots below and let us know which of these you also copped.

Sneaker News Top 30 of 2012

sneakernews top 30 2012 1a Sneaker News Top 30 of 2012

For better or worse, 2012 was a defining year for the sneaker world and all that it encompasses. It was a year that saw certain shoes throw the laws of supply and demand so out of whack, that brands and retailers had to completely rethink the way they sell shoes to the public just to keep the peace. If you were willing to put in some legwork or, better yet, had the right connections, it was a banner year for sneaker enthusiasts. “Must-have” releases seemed to be at an all-time high and nearly every weekend offered up some sort of temptation for consumers. 2012 saw the release of some of the most eagerly anticipated and passionately sought-after sneakers the game had ever seen and it’s safe to say that things will never be the same again.

In between those, there were plenty of other desirable targets along the way, from the special limited editions and collaborations to beloved Retro returns and promising new designs and innovations. There were even a few certified sleeper hits that organically carved out their place among the year’s best releases. Due to an exponentially expanding consumer base and a heightened level of product awareness, you might not have been able to get your hands on every shoe you hunted for in 2012, but there was certainly no shortage of solid alternatives ripe for the picking in their absence.

On Monday night, DeRozan wore the Air Jordan V ‘Fire Red’, joined by Amir Johnson in the Chicago X and Dominic McGuire in the Cool Grey XI. Melo kept the Knicks perfect with the Melo M8 Advance, while LeBron kept the Heat on a roll with the LeBron X ‘Pressure’. Shannon Brown whipped out the Team Brown Hyperposites while LaMarcus show him what the PE game is like. The second night of Opening Games for the 2012-13 NBA Season went down last night, but it could it be up to par of Tuesday night’s showcase of Gold LeBron X PEs, Pink Foamposites, and Ray’s XVI? You tell us. Starting off, we saw the Metallic Red Foams on the feet of Lamar Odom as well as J.J. Hickson, while Kobe rocked a PE/iD colorway of the Zoom Kobe VII. Nate Robinson wore three (yes, THREE) different Air Jordan Retros, Demar DeRozan whipped out the Air Jordan IV ‘Black Cat’, and Jared Jeffries (not pictured), wore the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’. There’s plenty more to see, so check out a recap of last night’s game and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more NBA Feet coverage!

Air Jordan X “Chicago” – OG Autographed Pair on eBay

August 25th, 2012 by | 2 comments

jordan x chicago signed 2 Air Jordan X Chicago OG Autographed Pair on eBay

If you caught the first ever Sneaker News: Was It The Shoes? last week, you’d know already that Michael Jordan wore these, the Air Jordan X in the ‘Chicago’ colorway, during the spectacular ‘Double-Nickel’ performance. Fifty-five points against a raucous Madison Square Garden is a feat that only a few can actually pull off (some say Kobe’s 61 is better, but the Knicks were far more competitive on defense in ’95 than they were in ’09), so even though MJ only wore the Chicago X for a short period of time, there’s a reason why the January 2012 Retro was so popular. This brand new pair of OGs just popped up in our radar, and the fact that it features Jordan’s autograph on the toe-box of the shoe makes it all the more amazing! A full gallery is just below, so take a look and see what the asking price is from dgoldmj2377z0 on eBay.

Air Jordan X ‘Chicago’ – Dissected

air jordan x chicago dissected Air Jordan X Chicago Dissected

Nobody will ever truly know what went on in Michael’s mind when he decided to hang up his jersey, lace up some cleats, and then go back to the hardwood during that eighteen-month span in the mid-90′s, but at least we get to look at what went inside the first sneaker that was designed during Michael’s official retirement (remember, the Air Jordan IX design was completed before Jordan pressed pause in ’93). The latest victim of these sneaker dissections is the Air Jordan X ‘Chicago’, which hit stores this past January; each stitch in the upper is meticulously pulled apart, revealing spongy padding in the ankle, a full-length Air unit, and a few other things consistent with other Air Jordan dissections of the recent past, so check out the detailed gallery below and let us know if you copped the Chicago X back in January. Air Jordan X ‘Chicago’ Gas Mask By Freehand Profit

air jordan x chicago gas mask 12 Air Jordan X Chicago Gas Mask By Freehand Profit

Freehand Profit’s custom gas masks are currently on display at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art +Design, but he’s already got another treat for us in case you’re not in the area to check out the exhibit for yourself. Take a look at the latest gas mask constructed from the Air Jordan X ‘Chicago’; what separates this particular mask from his previous design is that the mask utilizes two entire pairs, which essentially doubles the amount of labor needed to complete this work. You can see all Jumpman logos from the heels on ‘forehead’ of the mask, with the uppers used as armor-like plates that extend beyond the temple. Freehand Profit states that these will officially go on sale once the exhibition is over, so if you have any interest in grabbing this unique collectible piece, check out the detailed gallery below and wait ’til the exhibit comes to an end this May 20th!
