Unreleased Air Jordan Samples Through The Years

Over the years we’ve seen some amazing (and questionable) colorways of Air Jordans and Air Jordan Retros surface on the web. In fact, there might be as many unreleased mock-ups as there are produced versions, but who knows what’s really stowed in the deep dark vaults inside the Jordan Brand headquarters and overseas factories? We’ve compiled a fairly thorough gallery of some notable Air Jordan sample colorways that have never seen the light of day at retail; some of these already have noted legends behind them, like the Air Jordan VI “Infrared” Retro with the flipped midsole and the Air Jordan V “Gold” that may or may not have been made for an employee, but some of the stuff we’ve come across cause us to question why the shoes were never released, or why they were created in the first place! Air Jordan X – Yellow Seamless Sample

It can be argued that the Air Jordan X is the simplest (in terms of design) Air Jordan ever created. After all, the upper is built with basic leather with just a few distinguishing layers on the mudguard and lace placket giving the shoe any sort of real character. In 2006, Jordan Brand created these seamless samples with colored leather in several different ones like yellow, red, orange, and more. Despite the flat, no-sew upper, these have a ton of character to ‘em and this sort of tonal colored sneaker might not have fared well back in 2006. Would these be a bigger hit if they released this year, or are these samples a bit too out of the ordinary? Air Jordan X “Stealth” – Unreleased “23″ Sample

One of the more inconsistent details in the entire Air Jordan OG and Retro catalog is the “23″ embroidery that has popped up on select models. The Air Jordan V and X are the two that can’t seem to get any sort of rhyme down in terms of adding or omitting the ’23′ stitching on the heel, but we do see that last year’s Spring 2012 release of the Air Jordan X “Stealth” potentially had it in the works. In addition to the “23″, this unreleased sample also shows grey lace eyelets instead of the black used in the release version, which provides even more contrast. So, what’s your verdict? Rip Hamilton Shows Off Latest Air Jordan Pick-Ups

Richard Hamilton is one of a few players left in the NBA active during Michael Jordan’s tenure with the Washington Wizards, and one of only three to have played with him there (winning NCAA and NBA championships is also quite rare). Rip’s Jumpman connection goes back even further to his days at UConn (and presumably all the way back to Coatesville). So while it might be a bit easier for him to pull a few strings, he’s still just like us in being proud of new pairs. Here we see the Chicago sharpshooter showing off two fresh Air Jordan 1 Retro High OGs, the forthcoming ‘Grape’ Vs and a new color of the Retro 1 ’93 that despite photo filters appears to be an orange-laced silvery style. Hamilton also got playful in matching a slightly older release in the ‘Chicago’ Xs to the Bulls logo, so check out all these shots below and let us know which of these you also copped.
