AIR JORDAN XI LOW The Air Jordan XI Low is a low version of Michael Jordan’s eleventh signature sneaker. This model differs from the IE version in that it features patent leather and comes as a more direct descendant of the Air Jordan XI in terms of aesthetics. The Air Jordan XI Low in this form was not available to the public until the retro treatment that began in 2001.

AIR JORDAN WOMENS WEEK

Time to show the lady Jordan-fiends some love. Jordan Brand began producing womens-only releases of Air Jordan Retros back in 2001, starting with a series of Air Jordan XI Lows in some unexpected and impressive colorways. One standout was the ‘Citrus’ of April 2001; it was the first Air Jordan XI to feature a sole color that wasn’t red, translucent, or solid-black, and stands as the lone all-white low-top XI ever (up until the White/Varsity Red release earlier this year). The translucent ‘Citrus’ was matched with the similarly colored stripe on the tongue as well as the Jumpman and ’23′ branding on the heel. This understated and Summer-friendly colorway was released at select retailers and is a true collectors item given its rarity (particularly the larger-sized productions). Kick off Classics Revisited: Air Jordan Womens week with a true banger and stay tuned for more sick productions!

nba feet opening day 2012 0 NBA Feet: 2012 Opening Day Recap

Basketball is back! Sneaker News already gave you the low-down the LeBron’s ‘Gold’ PE, Rajon’s Pink Foams, and Ray’s Air Jordan XVI PE, but what about the rest? Only three games went down, but there was plenty to cover; Dwyane Wade debuted the Li-Ning Way of Wade ‘Dynasty’, while Kobe rocked the Court Purple/University Gold Kobe VII in a losing effort against the Mavericks. His teammate Steve Nash wore the Lunar Hypergamer Low, and Dwight wore the adiPower Howard 3 in a Lakers colorway. In match-up between up-and-coming Cleveland and Washington, Jordan Crawford of the Wizards didn’t miss a beat from last season and wore the Air Jordan XI Low. Kyrie Irving got down with the Lunar Hyperdunk PE. A complete look at the first night of 2012-2013 NBA Season is right ahead, so take a look!

Michael Jordan in Air Jordan XI Low PE

It was just about six weeks ago that Sneaker News showed you a dope special edition Air Jordan XI Low ’Space Jam’ created for Michael himself, and now we see that the AJXI SMUs don’t stop with established colorways.  Check out this insane Air Jordan 11 Low His Airness wore at a recent Michael Jordan Flight School Event (recent enough that we see the likes of the LeBron 9 Low and Zoom KD IV on attendees’ feet).  They’ve got a blocking pattern similar to the upcoming ‘Johnny Kilroy’ AJ9, which seems fitting given that this pair’s origins are also something of a mystery.  Check back with us regularly to see if this impressive Chicago Bulls style ever makes it to retail and click through to see more photos of what’s instantly one of the rarest Air Jordan designs ever.

Classics Revisited: Air Jordan XI Low “Snakeskin” (2001)

snakeskin xi low 2001 Classics Revisited: Air Jordan XI Low Snakeskin (2001)

AIR JORDAN LOW WEEK

Let’s face it, it’s pretty unlikely that the sneakerhead community will ever come to a consensus on the single greatest Air Jordan silhouette of all time. There are solid arguments for a handful of them; from the obvious historical significance of the Air Jordan 1, to the onset of the Tinker years marked by the Air Jordan III, to that all-important first championship sneaker the Air Jordan VI. With all that being said there’s pretty much no argument to be had regarding which model is consistently the most sought after and talked about when the dust settles: the Air Jordan XI. The fervor surrounding the default high-hitting version extends down to the Air Jordan XI Low as well, a model tuned up to accomodate MJ’s preference for playing in lows. During the Air Jordan XI’s original moment in the spotlight a handful of these low hitting PE’s were made for Michael himself, with the public forced to settle for the tweaked IE version as far as retail availability. The true patent leather version’s eventual emergence from the vaults half a decade later would mark the first retro Air Jordan Low, and no doubt the most sought after in that category which we’ll be focusing on in this spot as the week progresses.

When the Air Jordan XI Low did finally arrive in 2001 the colorways it carried were far from OG styles like the ‘Bred’ and ‘Concord’, the sneaker opting instead to blaze a new trail independent of the Chicago influence. One particular duo amongst the 2001 run stands out as especially unique, upping the opulence of the original Tuxedo styled high class performance of the Air Jordan XI with a snakeskin wrap around the mudguard. Pictured above is the men’s release among the two, slapping the reptilian look on in an alternating navy and black pattern. The women’s, pictured after the jump, debuted in the same white base albeit with pink on the shiny strip to cement their feminine aim.

As previously mentioned these two weren’t the only pairs the public was treated to during that epic 2001 run. The men’s crop also included alternating pairs in columbia blue and varsity red, with the latter registering as the only amongst the group to have some vague semblance of a ‘Bulls’ look. Also on the menu for men’s releases that year was the Air Jordan XI Low in zen grey, a clean slate version whose closest analog is the Air Jordan XI ‘Silver Anniversary’ of many years later. The women’s side of things was rounded out by the similarly bare citrus pair that brought a unique look to the icy outsole and the silver that donned a metallic look. Stay with us after the jump for a look at the Air Jordan XI Low ‘Snakeskin’ releases, as well as all of the other Air Jordan XI Low retro releases from the 2001 stretch and stick with us throughout the week as we bring you more from the category of Air Jordan Lows for your daily dose of Classics Revisited.

air jordan xi white red concord customs 1 Air Jordan XI Low White/Red/Concord Customs By DNATURAL

What would happen if you blended the two most popular OG Air Jordan XI colorways into one super smash hit?  The combination would be so powerful it could break even your own ankles — maybe that’s why DNATURAL decided to combine the ‘Concord’ and ‘Bred’ Elevens on the Air Jordan XI Low silhouette.  This shoe represents a summertime take on the shoes that’ll end up being last and this Christmases’ biggest sneaker releases, but fastidious heads will be quick to point out that the white and black Air Jordan 11 isn’t really ‘Concord’ without its purple outsole pods.  Throw some purple onto the red bottoms and end up with a ‘Raptors’ XI or just stick with what got us the 72-win season?  Let us know what you think of this AJ11 sole swap and stick with Sneaker News for the latest custom Jordans.

air jordan xi low bred Air Jordan XI Retro Low Bred

Anytime news of the Air Jordan XI pops up, it’s time to take notice. We brought you confirmed information on the pricing of the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’, which has been set at $185, but here’s an added bit of goodness that should have Air Jordan fans excited – a look at the Air Jordan XI Low ‘Bred’. Here we have a little peek at what appears to be a sample of the Air Jordan XI Low in Black/Varsity Red that Michael Jordan actually had at his disposal back in 1996. This also ties in to the Air Jordan XI Low samples that have been floating around (notably the ‘Six Rings’ Air Jordan XI Low), but nothing solid has been established just yet. Following up on the May release of the White/Red Low-top XI, another XI Low release for 2012 could very much be underway, so let’s hope this low-top hits stores! Check out the side-by-side shot with its ‘Bred’-thren and stay tuned for more updates. Photos: kickz-lab

Air Jordan XI Low – White – Varsity Red – Black | Release Reminder

May 4th, 2012 by | 60 comments

air jordan xi white red low rr 2 Air Jordan XI Low White Varsity Red Black | Release Reminder

The last mid-Summer release of an Air Jordan XI was completed in 2010 when Jordan Brand dropped the Air Jordan XI ‘Silver Anniversary’ on May 1st of that year. Almost two years forward and Jordan Brand is at it again, keeping the all-white upper but reducing the height to a ‘Low’ and adding in Black and Red trim to give it some color. It’s true that Low-top Air Jordans and Non-OG colorways are dealbreakers for some purists, but they just might have to bend their own personal rules because these are as sweet as low-top Jays get. Another quite note to point out – Jordan Brand had stated the retail price to be $145, but these will in fact retail for $140. Nikestore will release these tomorrow at 8 AM and will run their Twitter RSVP tomorrow, but check with your local Jordan Brand purveyor to get yours or make ‘em yours with a bit more convenience by getting ‘em now from neo122401 on eBay.
