AIR JORDAN XI LOW The Air Jordan XI Low is a low version of Michael Jordan’s eleventh signature sneaker. This model differs from the IE version in that it features patent leather and comes as a more direct descendant of the Air Jordan XI in terms of aesthetics. The Air Jordan XI Low in this form was not available to the public until the retro treatment that began in 2001.

Jordan Brand’s got quite the product line ready for us this month, so let’s take a quick overview of what’s been updated for this month; beginning with the three Air Jordan Retro releases, JB’s got four new Jordan CP3.V colorways as well as two Melo M8s, three new Jordan Fly Wade 2 EV colorways, and two Playoff-derived Melo M8s. In addition to the basketball-driven models, a Flight Gold colorway of the Jordan Flight 23 Classic will hit stores as will two new Jordan SC-2 colorways. February and December are always heavy-hitters for sneaker purchases, but don’t overlook May, which kicks off a string of must-have kicks with this Saturday’s Air Jordan XI Low. The first low-top Air Jordan XI with patent leather since 2001, this simple colorway of a remixed Chi-Town Bulls variety was, according to our readers, a ‘must-have’ based on the poll we took on Monday night (57.8% said ‘Buying’, with the remaining poll nearly split down the middle between ‘Passing’ and ‘On The Fence’). With the Air Jordan XI becoming the most popular model of the entire legacy, it’s hard to believe these will sit around, but will the retail price at $145 deter a few customers? We’ve got a look at the official images put forth by Jordan Brand, so take a look and let us know if $145 is just a bit too much for a pair of low-top Jordans.

Jordans and Nikes have become exceedingly popular over the last few years, and while there exists a select group in the population that persists in believing that it still is a ‘sub-culture’, sneakers have become THE culture – perhaps the defining fashion phenomenon of this generation. Kim Kardashian rocking the Cement IIIs is a perfect example that Jordans have become a ‘hot’ item, but that shouldn’t take away from your own individual relationship with sneakers (and why should another person wearing your favorite kicks have any affect on you?). And while it’s no mystery that copping sneakers isn’t what it once was (even Nike is taking measures to alter the horizon), not every release is an instant sell-out.
This Saturday’s release of the Air Jordan XI Low might fall in that category for a number of reasons; it’s not an original colorway (albeit still a Bulls get-up), there are other desirable releases month, and some still can’t mess with Lows. However anything with patent leather seems to sell like hotcakes, and with Michael himself rocking some PE varieties of the low-top Air Jordan XI, the excitement for these could be underestimated. In any case, the choice is yours come Saturday, as these will likely fall under Nike’s ‘Twitter RSVP’ procedure and won’t hit Nikestore until 8 AM. So, are you on the fence on these? Whatever kind of deal Lil Wayne inked up with Supra it certainly doesn’t have him staying strictly in their sneakers, as he continues to show Jumpman support with this sighting of the Young Money rapper in the upcoming Air Jordan XI Low retro. Wayne was spotted in the patent leather silhouette at a recent charity basketball game out in Miami, pairing these Cinco de Mayo bangers with some gear from his own TRUKFIT line. This Saturday, April 28th is shaping up to be a substantial sneaker release date, and we can expect another celebration just seven days later as Cinco de Mayo coincides with the day of the week upon which the majority of big releases have historically hit store shelves. Each May brings us the usual Corona-colored and Mexican flag and/or blanket-inspired designs, but rarely has a design managed to reside so comfortably in the middle ground between holiday timeliness and timeless sick design. The Air Jordan XI Low in white and Varsity Red is not only a lace swap away from an eye-catching festive theme (not to mention the Christmas potential), and the best part is the theme would be temporary and represent just the first of many summertime days spent loving these kicks. We don’t blame you, especially with summer and the white sneaker season right around the corner, so how about getting ready for the dog days on Cinco de Mayo when the Air Jordan XI Low hits retailers in white and Varsity Red? They’re undoubtedly going to be one of the summer’s standout sneaker releases, but with all the attention and energy given to the past several years’ Christmas Elevens, how will this mid-spring drop compare? Sneaker News’ most recent up-close look at the Air Jordan Legacy ‘History of Flight’ came just hours ago when we showed you the white/red Air Jordan XI that’s currently up on eBay for nearly six grand. If you wanted to get a bit of that flavor at a tiny fraction of the price, consider the above pictured Cinco de Mayo release that’s just a couple of degrees away. This upcoming Air Jordan 11 Low is a chopped off take on a similar style, but a black lining and white laces lead these to an arguably cleaner finished product.
