What could possibly make the already quite coveted Air Jordan XI ‘DMP’ even more of a prized possession? If you had a pair that looked like this then that would do the trick. The Air Jordan XI from the epic ‘Defining Moments Pack’ was produced in a few samples featuring the extra accoutrement of gold eyelets spelling out “Jordan”. This detail was scrapped for the retail pairs but a couple lucky collectors were able to snag this version via whatever black magic sample-acquisition tactics – some pairs even released at Nike Factory stores. Click through for a view of the Air Jordan XI ‘DMP’ gold eyelets sample and then take a look at the price tag on this pair from depeche23mode on eBay.

With last Friday’s release of the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ marking the fourth overall release of the shoe, it seems like an appropriate time to look back at an original pair – the same joints MJ wore while leading the Bulls to an unparalleled 72-10 record and 4th NBA Championship. If you notice, these XIs didn’t require a special box, but a simple black/red Nike box of that era. Another tidbit of info regarding the Bred XI is that Japan got a separate release of these, which came with slightly altered serial numbers on the tag as well as a black tissue paper. The asking price for this vintage gem is rather fair, so peep the gallery below and head to the listing from f211s on eBay.

We’re finally here folks: the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ releases tomorrow. Can it maintain the fever pitch excitement that the previous string of Christmas-time Air Jordan XI releases generated? While there are a lot more folks checking for retro Air Jordans each successive year, it’s worth mentioning that of the recent crop (including the ‘Space Jam’, ‘Cool Grey’, and ‘Concord’) the ‘Bred’ pictured here has had the shortest turn around between this release and the last one (that would be the ‘Countdown Pack’ pair in 2008). Let us know if you’re gonna be grabbing them and look for this Air Jordan XI in stores tomorrow, December 21st at spots like Primitive or right now on eBay.

The Mayans were right that something big was going to happen on 12/21/12, but even those ancient math masters couldn’t have predicted a formula like 72-10 = perfection. That happened sixteen years ago when Tinker Hatfield produced one of the most cherished of all Air Jordan designs for what happened to be the greatest team effort in NBA history. Michael Jordan’s return to dominance was punctuated by a fourth Championship won in this ‘Bred’ Air Jordan XI, a masterpiece whose influence cannot be overstated; a celebrated Retro release in 2001, a surprising ‘package’ delivery in 2008, and another singular re-issue on Friday quickly summarizes the Bred XI’s journey to store shelves, and while this lovely gallery presented to you by Sneaker News reiterates something we’ve known for some time (which is where we’ve gotta be on Friday morning), it should only finalize the notion that the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ just might be the greatest of all-time.

Two absolute monsters of the sneaker game are about to collide. In one corner: Staple Design, the team behind the legendary, riot-inducing Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Pigeon’. In the other: Jordan Brand (we don’t really need to give you any background on them, right?). This cryptic image was just leaked out from head man Jeff Staple, with the collab looking to focus on the Air Jordan XI thanks to the roman numerals and accompanying dates up at the top of the tag. No word yet on whether it’s a sneaker or just an apparel collection, but heads would no doubt explode if the former were the case. Drop your comments on the project below and stay tuned for the first look at the Staple x Jordan Brand project.
