The most memorable Air Jordan XII is the 'Flu Game' Black/Red colorway, which Michael wore during the 1997 NBA Finals while having the flu. Mike Bibby’s vast collection of Air Jordan player exclusives is a lower hitting group more often than not, with a good number of his PE sneaks being chopped down versions of legacy series silhouettes. With Dwyane Wade out of the Olympics we’ve seen a slight uptick of him rocking retros, but curiously enough he doesn’t seem interested in donning anything from his no doubt large stash of Miami Heat flavored pairs. You’d think Wade’s Heat dedication would be at an all time high what with that new ring he just snagged but to each his own. Josh Howard has long enjoyed his share of player exclusive Air Jordans, perhaps not quite as many as a certain other Wake Forest alum but still an amazing set regardless, with the likes of the Air Jordan II and Air Jordan VIII popping up before tailor made to match with his Dallas Mavericks uniform at the time. While Philadelphia Phillies fans are likely stunned at the fact that their team, just one season removed from a 100+ win season, is sitting dead-last in their Division, the sight of Jimmy Rollins’ sick Air Jordan PEs should ease the painful reality that the Phillies’ reign on top might come to an early end (though the long-term signing of Cole Hamels gives the Phillies’ a solid lefty anchor in the rotation). The first PE that Rollins wore this season was the Air Jordan XII, but here we get a nice look at the his personal PE logo on the heel, which combines an abbreviated version of his name with another sick ‘JR’ crest at the base. Why you shouldn’t pass on the Air Jordan XII ‘Obsidian’: for one, it’s an original colorway, and secondly, this might be the last Air Jordan XII Retro in a long while. The Obsidian XII caps off a nice Summer 2012 trio of AJ12s that began with April’s ‘Playoffs’ and was followed by May’s ‘Grey/Orange’, but the Obsidian could potentially be the most important of the three because it’s an untouched original. These were near the top of the ever-shortening list of un-retroed Air Jordans, but prayers have been answered because tomorrow’s release will finally remove the Obsidians from that list. Remember, Nikestore will NOT release these, so be sure to cop these tomorrow morning at Jordan Brand retailers or get ‘em right now from yellownsxt on eBay.

You can’t expect 15 years to go by without any change at all right? That’s how long its been since Air Jordan fiends last got to pick up the Air Jordan XII ‘Obsidian’, one of the last couple of original Air Jordan colorways that have yet to be let out of the proverbial vault. They’ll be here soon enough though, with the vault doors getting blasted wide open on Saturday, June 23rd. As previously alluded to there are a few changes from the original go-round (see if you can spot them without glancing at shots of the OG) but that shouldn’t get in between anyone and this coveted retro release. For the time being Jordan Brand has got a case of the blues. First up it was the Air Jordan IV ‘Military’ just last weekend, and right around the corner things are set to get a bit darker with the retro release of the Air Jordan XII ‘Obsidian’. Given how long the wait has been for this OG colorway to make the rounds another time it’s safe to assume they will go pretty quickly, even with all the big Olympic release looming on the horizon.
