Ready to kick off another amazing year of Air Jordan Retro releases? The AJ1s will kick things off, but if you’re ready to look past the ’85 Originals and onto more exciting releases, we’ve got one that’s arriving a lot sooner than you think. According to Nikestore, the Air Jordan XIII “Bred” will be first in line to re-launch the XIII as these will hit select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike.com on January 12th, 2013 – two Saturday’s from today. Are these a must-have for you, especially since we haven’t seen these beauties since the 2004 cycle of Retro releases? The Air Jordan XIII has sort of already made its return thanks to the Air Jordan 1 97 TXT that just hit stores today. If you’re looking for a more direct version of the sneaker though then don’t worry, as proper retro models are in store. This pair is one of them that will come sporting a never before seen combo-that of squadron blue, electric yellow, and black. Will it be tantalizing enough to earn your cash in a season promising OG, ‘Nike Air’ style releases? With a strong influence in the sneaker game for the last two+ decades, Spike Lee deserves every bit of the respect he’s been given by Jordan Brand and the sneaker community. He was honored with the Spiz’ike in 2006 and later with the Son of Mars, and there’s no stopping what JB and even Nike will do for the famed film director. This Air Jordan XIII is just another example of Jays in Spike’s flicks, as this particular colorway was featured in ‘He Got Game‘, when Jake Shuttlesworth (played by Denzel Washington) cops these new kicks while he’s out on his mission of convincing Jesus to go to Big State. Yeah yeah we know, the only retro model you can even think of at the moment is the Air Jordan III ’88 with the glorious ‘Nike Air’ chunk on the back end. You need to focus though-there are other treasures to be had in 2013. One of them is this Air Jordan XIII, a clean black and white colorway colloquially known as the Air Jordan XIII ‘He Got Game’. If you still need a dose of “Bred”, don’t forget about this March 2013 release of the Air Jordan XIII! This original colorway from ’98 is indeed another pair of Jordans that has adopted the ‘Bred’ nickname over the years (for those unsure about what ‘Bred’ is, it’s just a shortened versino of ‘Black and Red’). Based on these photos, it’s clear that the upper will not be dotted with reflective stitching (much like 2010′s Air Jordan XIII ‘Flint’), but that doesn’t stand to change a thing! In what might have been the most difficult series during the Chicago Bulls’ entire championship era (Knicks fans will argue to the contrary), an aging Jordan-Pippen-Rodman trio gutted out a gritty win in seven games against the Indiana Pacers. The difficulty of this seven-game victory was likely one of the key factors in MJ choosing to go out on top for the second time, and now about a year after last year’s backhanded compliment of a ‘Cavs’ AJIV, the ‘Squadron Blue’ Air Jordan XIII pours some salt on old wounds. They’re not even called ‘Pacers’ despite the fact that two of Indiana’s current players have worn them this year, but the atypically dynamic navy and yellow mix is indeed a more energetic rendition of the Central Division foe’s long-established palette. We’re expecting these on February’s second Saturday and you can see more images after the jump below.

Spring ’13 is shaping up to be a big season for Michael Jordan’s thirteenth signature sneaker, with three colorways coming up over the next three months including the brand new style pictured above. This ‘Squadron Blue’ Air Jordan XIII joins the regular season ‘home’ and playoff ‘away’ looks in a non-Bulls colorup that shares ballistic nylon side panels with the would-be All-Star ‘Flint’ Jordan Brand reissued in 2010. Those were a big hit and the navy and gold look on these represents a similarly street clothes-friendly look that’ll fill your heart with happiness in mid-February.
