The Air Jordan XIII is prepared to be pretty dominant in 2013, reminding folks of one of MJ’s last Chicago Bulls sneakers with a group of colorways from way back (with new pairs like the ‘Squadron Blue’ thrown in the mix as well). One said well established colorway is this one, the ‘Bred’ Air Jordan XIII, an OG blocking that was last available during the quick 2004 retro. It has appeared in earlier images a bit darker, almost like an ‘Altitude’ at twilight kind of look mixing neon with deep navy blue, but the latest shots of the ‘Squadron Blue’ Air Jordan XIII reveal another side. In these shots and another recent look, we’ve gotten to see a bit of a ‘Calvin Bailey’ lean that suggests these are compatible with a guy like Paul George or Gerald Green on the Indiana Pacers. So it’s not only a totally novel color combination for the Air Jordan Legacy but also a versatile composition with lots of potential depending on the context, one of which involves you looking at more photos below.

The Air Jordan XIII is getting a proper blue based retail release next year in the form of the Air Jordan XIII ‘Squadron Blue’, but there’s another pair locked away that we’ll likely never see on retail shelves. That would be the Air Jordan XIII ‘Rainbow Pack’, this shiny blue version that was made for display purposes. As surprising new Retro colorways for 2013 continue to pop up, would it be much of a surprise if a ‘Rainbow’ Pack was ever executed? We’ve got a full gallery on this Air Jordan ‘Rainbow Pack’ sample so let us know how you would respond to a release, and peep the price tag on them from depeche23mode on eBay.

Have we stumbled upon an unofficial formula of Jordan Brand Retro releases? Do we take the 23rd Anniversary model and add 8 (example – IV + 8 = Air Jordan XII)? We already know the Air Jordan V is making a comeback in 2013, but so is the Air Jordan XIII, which will be rolled out in several old and new colorways – like this Squadron Blue. The upper gets a tonal treatment of this modern blue tone with a contrasting ‘Electric Yellow’ for a truly energetic kick, spelling the OG colorway of the White/Black/Red that’s slated for a January release. The Squadrons are slated for a February release so peep the detailed images and let us know if these are a must-have for you.

The Air Jordan XIII is a sneaker that’s still pretty fresh in the collective sneakerhead memory, pairs getting the retro treatment as recently as 2011. Fortunately, the planned 2013 colorways aren’t looking to rewind on such close in the rearview colorways as the ‘Playoffs’ and ‘Flint’. Take for example the Air Jordan XIII ‘Bred’ pictured here, a sneaker looking to end its eight year hiatus next March. A number of Air Jordan XIII colorways are on tap for spring 2013, including styles both familiar and brand new. Along with the ‘Grape’-ish GS colorup, this new ‘Squadron Blue’ AJ13 occupies the class of fresh colorups using the Thirteen’s ballistic nylon-based build. It’ll be interesting to see where these pan out with MJ’s-last-Bulls-season OGs ‘Bred’ and ‘He Got Game’ also repping for Tinker Hatfield’s ode to Mike’s insatiable hunger on the court and the golf course. Have a look at subtle yet eye-catching navy and neon combo that could very well very well one day spawn its own descendent styles and stick with Sneaker News as we approach what’s scheduled as an early February premier.

Air Jordans have been a repetitive go-to bit of symbolism in many of Spike Lee’s films, like this original colorway of the Air Jordan XIII in the critically acclaimed ‘He Got Game’, starring Denzel Washington and Ray Allen. For those uncertain as to why these have the ‘He Got Game’ nickname, Denzel’s character foes straight to the sneaker spot and cops the newest Air Jordans – the XIII just so happened to be the newest one when he was temporarily freed. These are considered to be one of the most culturally recognizable Jays in history, and its inclusion in the 2008 Collezione saga was much celebrated indeed. Next Spring, Jordan Brand will give these another go-around at retail, but if you need to replenish your XIIIs now, a size 9 is available right now from zadehkicks on eBay.

By now you should have a firm grasp of what Jordan Brand is aiming for with its 2013 Retro releases: color, and lot’s of it. A first detailed look at this upcoming GS release of the Air Jordan XIII reveals a ‘Grape’-ish mix of purple and emerald on a white/black base, but take a closer look at the upper dimpled panel and you’ll notice flecks of purple and emerald dotted into the weaved fabric. Colors of this nature is suited perfectly for the younger demographic, don’t you think? Peep the exclusive gallery below and let us know what you think of the colorway, and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates on Jordan Brand’s 2013 line-up. Thanks to windycitysole.
