Do you keep the plastic protector sheet in tact when you get a new pair of Air Jordan XIIIs? If you’re keeping on ice to collect, the answer is a definite ‘yes’, but what about those of us who intend on wearing this March 2013 ‘Bred’ Jordan 13 release with all the enthusiasm of its debut just under fifteen years earlier? You’ll occasionally see someone rocking a pair with just enough wrinkling around the trademark ankle hologram to spot from a distance that dude probably has extended warranties on all his gear and a smartphone in a bombproof carrying case. The shoe undoubtedly looks better ‘bare’, and the prevalence of tapered pants these days will protect them from hemline friction, but leave the door open to the environment. But that’s the kind of risk you take when you un-DS a beloved classic like these, so you might want to plan on picking up multiple pairs while we wait patiently with new images below to tide us over.

This upcoming March, Jordan Brand will extend its string of ‘Bred’-related Retro releases by dropping the Air Jordan XIII in the original colorway. December of 2004 was the last time it hit stores (it was that year’s Christmas-time Jordan release), we’ve seen it pop up in our NBA Feet feeds from guys like Monta Ellis during his first few outings with Milwaukee after the mid-season trade. One of the subplots for the upcoming NBA season will compare the performance of new Miami Heat shooting guard Ray Allen to his Boston Celtics replacement, Jason Terry. One area Sugar Ray has it all over the Jet is acting, where the former has worked with the great Spike Lee and Denzel Washington and the latter is limited to a few TV appearances (dope crib, even if he had to sell it). The huge success of 2010′s ‘Flint’ Retro after only five years since the previous edition proved there’s a lot of love out there for ballistic nylon-paneled Air Jordan XIIIs, and Jordan Brand is making early 2013 interesting by introducing a brand new style to accompany the most battle-tested. We know that the new ‘Squadron Blue’ look is slated for a February release, but where will the original playoff away ‘Bred’ Air Jordan 13 Retro fall on the SP13 calendar? It really won’t matter given the popularity of this aggressive Chicago Bulls rendition and the fact it’s been twice as long as we were waiting on the Flints, but it’s also of paramount importance given how many people have fond memories of MJ’s final Championship run. The ‘Bred’ Air Jordan XIII from next year has been pretty visible in recent weeks, but let’s not forgot that there are a couple colorways set to break the mold and stray away from the OG side of things. This is one of them, the Air Jordan XIII ‘Squadron Blue’, with electric yellow and black playing the supporting roles on the sneaker.
