To start the NBA Season, Ray Allen whipped out a jaw-dropping PE colorway of the Air Jordan XVI, which immediately sparked discussions of a possible Air Jordan XVI Retro in the near future. This latest bit of funky news might add more verity to that notion as we get a look at an unreleased Air Jordan XVI Low that was originally destined for a Fall 2012 release. Coincidentally, the Air Jordan XVI Low in the original Black/Metallic Silver was the last Air Jordan XVI to release during the original run, and perhaps somewhere during the product line discussions, this 2012 Retro was shelved. Thoughts on Jordan Brand scrapping a release and the potential wide-release return in 2013? We’d like to hear your opinion on the XVI so chime in and check out the full listing from oregonsole on eBay.

Will we ever see the Air Jordan XVI again? How much time must be made to pass before we see the shrouded sneaker return in retro fashion? It’s been over a decade since the sneaker first hit shelves and we’d say that’s a good enough gestation period. Until those dreams come true versions like one will have to do. Pictured is the Air Jordan XVI ‘History of Flight’, a hard to track down version from that display only collection. Check out the pair in better detail after the jump and then take a look at the auction from brokeonjordans on eBay.

Ray Allen‘s long awaited debuted in some PE sneaks out in Miami was a pretty severe curveball for most of the sneakerhead scene, opting out of the anticipated red and yellow shades for this special Air Jordan XVI ‘Gold’ player exclusive that kinda mimics the ‘Year of the Rabbit’ theme. Sugar Ray kept the shroud on for most of the game and took it off momentarily, but overall this on-court Air Jordan XVI action reminding many of us how slick the underrated silhouette can be. Let’s keep in mind that when both those Air Jordan VIII and Air Jordan XIII ‘Ray Allen’ PEs were released in limited numbers, the model itself was heavily released around that time. Does this point to an Air Jordan XVI re-issue soon? Click through with Sneaker News for some up close shots of the sneakers and let us know in the comments where this pair ranks for you in terms of all time Ray Allen Air Jordan PE’s.

Basketball is back! Sneaker News already gave you the low-down the LeBron’s ‘Gold’ PE, Rajon’s Pink Foams, and Ray’s Air Jordan XVI PE, but what about the rest? Only three games went down, but there was plenty to cover; Dwyane Wade debuted the Li-Ning Way of Wade ‘Dynasty’, while Kobe rocked the Court Purple/University Gold Kobe VII in a losing effort against the Mavericks. His teammate Steve Nash wore the Lunar Hypergamer Low, and Dwight wore the adiPower Howard 3 in a Lakers colorway. In match-up between up-and-coming Cleveland and Washington, Jordan Crawford of the Wizards didn’t miss a beat from last season and wore the Air Jordan XI Low. Kyrie Irving got down with the Lunar Hyperdunk PE. A complete look at the first night of 2012-2013 NBA Season is right ahead, so take a look!

With Ray Allen matching Chris Bosh’s 19 points and the Heat easily defeating the Boston Celtics in an Eastern Conference Finals rematch despite LeBron James missing crunch time with a charlie horse, it’s safe to say that Miami’s Big Three is now a quartet. Sugar Ray has both the championship pedigree and impressive PE resume to contribute to this formidable assemblage, and last night we saw the first of what figures to be a ton of dope Air Jordan player exclusives in MIA red and gold. The first choice was a curious one that leaves Jordanheads wondering whether new Air Jordan XVIs might be on the way for the first time since Michael Jordan’s first Wizards season. This new take on the Sixteen reminds us of Ray’s first run Bucks AJXVI PEs; which do you think is a better representation of this famously shrouded design? Have a closer look below, let us know what you think and be sure to check back with Sneaker News for a whole season’s worth of NBA Feet.

It looks like LeBron James won’t be the only one rocking gold sneakers tonight, as Ray Allen will apparently suit up in this pair of the Air Jordan XVI in his first NBA game with the Miami Heat. Sure Ray might not get to enjoy the ring ceremony to the same extent as his teammates, but he’s part of the family now and may well be in line to grab one come next year. Click through with us to check out a shot of Ray practicing in his Air Jordan XVI ‘Gold’ PE (one that just might mean a Retro comeback is in the works for 2013), let us know what you think in the comments below, and be sure to look for them on-court tonight as Allen squares off against his former Boston Celtics squad for the first time.

It all started with that Air Jordan IV, showing up with the monochrome blocking on top that was unlike any Air Jordan colorway we’d seen before. After that the Air Jordan XVI and Air Jordan XII did the same, suggesting that the super colorful pairs were part of some over-arching theme never to make it to retail, sort of in the same vein as the ‘History of Flight’ or ‘Pantone’ series. Well folks, Pandora’s box has officially been opened-it turns out the set spans quite the range, starting at the Air Jordan 1 and reaching all the way up to last year’s Air Jordan 2011, created strictly for display purposes in the Spring 2011 season just like the aforementioned collections. Every two pairs along the way sports a slightly different shade, with the 25 separate models included pretty much spanning what the rainbow has to offer. Hit the jump with us to check out the crazy Air Jordan ‘Rainbow Pack’ courtesy of brokeonjordans on eBay and let us know which pair among them you like the most. Photos: brokeonjordans

It’s about time the Air Jordan XVI re-released, right? Outside of the Countdown Package releases of 2008, none of the Air Jordans XVI and later were re-issued, but according to this never-before-seen Promo Sample, the 2008 Air Jordan XVI ‘CDP’ may not have been a solo act. The latest to roll out of the Air Jordan sample vault is the Metallic Blue/White colorway, which features a unique material on the upper similar to the matte Foamposite-like finish seen on the Jordan Six Rings ‘Foamposite’ release of early 2011 (not really Foamposite, but a similar texture/feel/look). The entire upper including the gaiter features this seldom-used material, and when paired with the white midsole and translucent outsole, this unreleased sample proved that there’s still a lot of uncharted territory in the Air Jordan XVI. A detailed gallery awaits you below, so take a look and peep the full listing from brokeonjordans on eBay.
