Paralympian sprinter April Holmes is billed as “The World’s Fastest Amputee”, a title she earned with a gold medal-winning performance in the 100m at Beijing four years ago.  The 2012 Paralympic Games begin next Wednesday, August 29th in London, and it looks like Holmes will take to the track with evidence that she’s also truly the “First Woman of Jordan Brand”.  Check out these insane Air Jordan XX-inspired track spikes, a ‘History of Flight’-ish white, red and gold colorup (with a ‘Golden Moments’ look in the background) whose strappy builds are reminiscent of the Tinker Hatfield-designed introduction to laser etching.  Let us know how these compare to the neon Flyknit spikes that dominated the Olympic airwaves and stick with Sneaker News for more rare Air Jordans.

Air Jordan ‘Rainbow Pack’

May 22nd, 2012 by | 76 comments

air jordan rainbow pack1 Air Jordan Rainbow Pack

It all started with that Air Jordan IV, showing up with the monochrome blocking on top that was unlike any Air Jordan colorway we’d seen before. After that the Air Jordan XVI and Air Jordan XII did the same, suggesting that the super colorful pairs were part of some over-arching theme never to make it to retail, sort of in the same vein as the ‘History of Flight’ or ‘Pantone’ series. Well folks, Pandora’s box has officially been opened-it turns out the set spans quite the range, starting at the Air Jordan 1 and reaching all the way up to last year’s Air Jordan 2011, created strictly for display purposes in the Spring 2011 season just like the aforementioned collections. Every two pairs along the way sports a slightly different shade, with the 25 separate models included pretty much spanning what the rainbow has to offer. Hit the jump with us to check out the crazy Air Jordan ‘Rainbow Pack’ courtesy of brokeonjordans on eBay and let us know which pair among them you like the most. Photos: brokeonjordans

air jordan xx inspired motorcycle helmet 02 570x379 Air Jordan XX Inspired Motorcycle Helmet

Jordan Brand and Mike’s motorsports team apparently have a pretty symbiotic relationship-with the two entities influencing each other in certain aspects of design. The last example of this was the Air Jordan V inspired helmet we showed you a few months back, and this time we’ve go another look at a piece of biking gear that borrows from the Jumpman legacy. The helmet shown here of course gets its wild all over print from the lasered strap of the Air Jordan XX, grabbing the graphics included that serve to represent different moments in the life of Michael. Follow us after the jump to get a better look and ponder this: would you ever rock this or is it a bit overboard in terms of Jordan Brand devotion? Let us know in the comments below.

Air Jordan XX ‘History Of Flight’ – Available on eBay

February 13th, 2012 by | 6 comments

air jordan xx history of flight Air Jordan XX History Of Flight Available on eBay

If you’re wondering where that funky mid-foot strap on the upcoming Jordan Of Mars came from, look back to the Air Jordan XX that debuted in 2004-2005. It featured that sick laser mosaic on the thick mid-foot strap as well as an ankle strap that floats above the ankle like a halo. The XX also introduced IPS – Independent Podular System – to the Air Jordan line, which would later be adapted to fit Chris Paul’s signature line with Podulon. It’s now apparent that ideas from the Air Jordan XX are now manifesting itself in more contemporary models – the strap on the Son Of Mars, the ankle strap on the Air Jordan 2012, and the previously mentioned Podulon system, so it’s only fitting that we now introduce to you the Air Jordan XX ‘History Of Flight’ in our ongoing featurette of the History Of Flight eBay auctions. We’ve got a nice gallery of this sick promo pair below, so take a gander and visit the auction from btn_16 on eBay.

New Air Jordan Hybrid Releasing In 2012 – Jordan Son Of Mars

September 13th, 2011 by | 89 comments

air jordan hybrid summer 2012 01 New Air Jordan Hybrid Releasing In 2012 Jordan Son Of Mars

3 + 5 + 6 + 20 = 34. A simple enough equation with a cryptic result is what you can make of this upcoming Air Jordan Hybrid shoe, which clearly combines key elements from the Air Jordan III, Air Jordan V, Air Jordan VI, and Air Jordan XX. Starting from the ground up, this hybrid sneaker utilizes the Air Jordan V midsole, and Air Jordan III mudguard, toe, and heel, and an upper that fuses the Air Jordan XX and the Air Jordan VI. Spin it in whatever way pleases you, and try to come up with some result of ’23′. Maybe the Air Jordan Spiz’ike II? In any case, we have a viewing of a Black/Red/White colorway and a White/Grey version below, so take a look, let it sink in, and let’s hear your thoughts on this Summer 2012 releasing Air Jordan shoe. via kimchee2go on NT.

Update: The name of the shoe is “Jordan Son of Mars”. Thanks @RajuOqium
