blue air jordans True Blue: A Look Back at Blue Air Jordans

This summer is a big one for blue Air Jordans: the Air Jordan 6 “Sport Blue” is leading the charge as the cherished original colorway sparking the movement and pairs like the Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 14, and plenty of ancillary Jordan Brand styles have followed suit. Of course if you know your Air Jordan history, you know that there have been blue shoes in the mix since day one, and throughout the years, there have been plenty of different reasons for Jordan Brand’s sneakers to sport blue (No pun intended).

Is there an Air Jordan signature that didn’t come in lowtop form for Mike Bibby? His Team Dime player exclusive archive is full of almost exclusively lowtop silhouettes in Kings colorways (although the guard did then chase some championships as a veteran later in his year). Today we get a look at this Air Jordan XXI Low, a sneaker that was probably featured on Bibby’s feet at home in Sacramento due to its white leather upper while a purple stitched 10 hits near the heel. Add in the ‘TD’ logo on the tongue and there’s no doubt who this shoe was for. Where does this rank among his other PEs? Stick with us after the click for more of this Mike Bibby PE and grab this rare find via fullcourt 1 on eBay.

sn staff insights 21st century air jordans Staff Insights: 21st Century Air Jordans

Yesterday, Jordan Brand introduced the world to the Air Jordan XX9, a woven one-piece upper design that again makes use of the Flight Plate cushioning system. It’s no secret that not all of the legacy models have set the sneaker world on fire the way those early Air Jordan offerings did, but there’s no denying some of the bold achievements they’ve made along the way in the name of performance and innovation. It seems like after the XIV, many of the later models tend to remain a bit more obscure than their uber-iconic predecessors, so with the latest game shoe being revealed this week, it seemed like a perfect time to shine some light on some of the best post-2000 installments. In this edition of Staff Insights, our team pinpoints some of their favorite Air Jordans from the latter half of the line’s tenure.

Air Jordan XXI Low – Derek Anderson Houston Rockets PE

September 23rd, 2013 by | 5 comments

air jordan 21 derek anderson houston rockets pe Air Jordan XXI Low Derek Anderson Houston Rockets PE

The “Rock 8″ stitching is one that you don’t see too often on player exclusive Jordans for one Derek Anderson. It appears that that was some Houston specific touch, as we can only recall pairs from that blip in his career timeline sporting the phrase. Like this one, an Air Jordan XXI that ends up on the low side. Keep in mind Derek Anderson is a size 13, so the shoes don’t end up too far out of the wearable range that NBA players’ footwear usually does. See them in full detail with us right below and then check out the chance to own the pair from dependablejay on eBay.

One of the biggest attractions at Nike DC that opened last October is this amazing display of Air Jordans done up in classic Georgetown Hoyas colors. Located on the top-most floor, this great display stands opposite of the Jordan section, giving customers an exclusive museum-like exhibit alongside the retail experience. While we were in-store for the Nike KD VI iD preview session, we took a quick moment to snap some photos of this legacy of Air Jordans inspired by the basketball powerhouse school located just minutes away. Luckily, after visiting Nike DC, we stopped by Georgetown University to chat with legendary hoops coach John Thompson and his son John Thompson Jr., who is currently the Hoyas head coach. Check out the gallery of each individual Air Jordan from the set and let us know which you like best.

air jordan unreleased samples through the years Unreleased Air Jordan Samples Through The Years

Over the years we’ve seen some amazing (and questionable) colorways of Air Jordans and Air Jordan Retros surface on the web. In fact, there might be as many unreleased mock-ups as there are produced versions, but who knows what’s really stowed in the deep dark vaults inside the Jordan Brand headquarters and overseas factories? We’ve compiled a fairly thorough gallery of some notable Air Jordan sample colorways that have never seen the light of day at retail; some of these already have noted legends behind them, like the Air Jordan VI “Infrared” Retro with the flipped midsole and the Air Jordan V “Gold” that may or may not have been made for an employee, but some of the stuff we’ve come across cause us to question why the shoes were never released, or why they were created in the first place! Of course, this gallery isn’t a complete list of every unreleased sample, but take a moment to skim through the gallery below and let us know which unreleased Air Jordan sample catches your eyes the most.
