It appears that the massive “XX8 Days of Flight” set of Air Jordans given away by Jordan Brand has finally begun to make its way into the hands of the winners. You’ll recall that entry involved snapping a pic of yourself on Instagram using #XX8DaysofFlight wearing the Air Jordan model corresponding to that day. The black and green sneakers have popped up across Instagram, as the lucky Air Jordan enthusiasts who received their pairs have been eager to show them off (and it looks like Jordan Brand unknowingly selected one user to receive two pairs). Now that the pairs are out there, it will be a test of will power to see who ends up keeping these one of a kind sneakers in their personal collection and who ends up taking the “other” route to cash out, although the 1-of-1 factor might be to tough to let go! Check out most of the Air Jordan “XX8 Days of Flight” pairs that have been doled out right after the jump and tell us in the comments which pair is your favorite.

air jordan xx8 black neon green collection 570x425 Air Jordan XX3 Black/Neon Green Collection

The Air Jordan XX3 was a triumph of the modern era of player shoes from Jordan Brand. There was obviously a huge burden placed on the model thanks to the importance of the number 23, a burden that it managed to carry just fine thanks to the slick design that was oozing with details. The Air Jordan XX3 is brought back here for the about-to-conclude #XX8DaysofFlight series, in which each sneaker is paid homage to via the ‘Black/Neon Green’ Air Jordan collection. Continue reading for an alternate image of the shoe and reminisce with us in the comments below on the massive event that was the Air Jordan XX3.

Air Jordan XX3 – Ray Allen Boston Celtics PE

November 14th, 2012 by | 1 comment

Does the Air Jordan XX3 get enough love? The twenty-third Air Jordan was important for obvious reasons, and it’s clear Jordan Brand came through with perhaps the most luxurious design ever and two exciting limited-edition releases in the Titanium and Premier joints, but the ‘PE’ category wasn’t bad either. Ray Allen’s Boston Celtics Player Exclusives come to mind, seen here in the stylish Black colorway with the green contrast stitching and an altered ’20′ logo on the left tongue. If you’ve never seen these before, we’ve got a look at some angles below, so check ‘em out and peep the asking price from elbato22 on eBay.

Air Jordan XX3 Prototype

air jordan xx3 prototype summary Air Jordan XX3 Prototype

2008′s Air Jordan flagship release had special significance as it marked the series 23rd anniversary. The Air Jordan XX3 was accordingly packed full of detail in tribute to Michael Jordan’s unmatched legacy, but the shoe itself, a Zoom-cushioned performance model weighing in at a relatively light 15 oz, was arguably underappreciated at the time of its debut (though you’ll find resale prices have reached new heights on the ‘Titanium’ and ‘Finale’ colorways). Would the initial reception (and subsequent after market valuation) have been stronger if we remembered the Air Jordan XX3 as looking like the sample design pictured above?

This Air Jordan 23 prototype features the same basic silhouette as the released model, but a few key elements make these significantly different, not the least of which is the diamond-perforated suede upper. This more traditional if plain side panel replaces the ornate embroidery that typifies the XX3 with a macro view of one of its patterns embossed on the lateral ankles. A bit further back, you’ll see more letters within a notch on its heel as ‘PE’ embroidery suggests this might have been a Bulls player exclusive mockup. A host of other details separate these from the released version, so click through to see more of the Podulon-tractioned ever-so-slightly translucent sole, totally novel lace loops and rubberized woodgrain mudguard, let us know how it compares to the ‘real’ Air Jordan XX3 and stick with Sneaker News for more rare Air Jordan samples. via Kenlu

Air Jordan ‘Rainbow Pack’

May 22nd, 2012 by | 76 comments

air jordan rainbow pack1 Air Jordan Rainbow Pack

It all started with that Air Jordan IV, showing up with the monochrome blocking on top that was unlike any Air Jordan colorway we’d seen before. After that the Air Jordan XVI and Air Jordan XII did the same, suggesting that the super colorful pairs were part of some over-arching theme never to make it to retail, sort of in the same vein as the ‘History of Flight’ or ‘Pantone’ series. Well folks, Pandora’s box has officially been opened-it turns out the set spans quite the range, starting at the Air Jordan 1 and reaching all the way up to last year’s Air Jordan 2011, created strictly for display purposes in the Spring 2011 season just like the aforementioned collections. Every two pairs along the way sports a slightly different shade, with the 25 separate models included pretty much spanning what the rainbow has to offer. Hit the jump with us to check out the crazy Air Jordan ‘Rainbow Pack’ courtesy of brokeonjordans on eBay and let us know which pair among them you like the most. Photos: brokeonjordans

Air Jordan XX3 – Chris Paul Hornets Home PE | Detailed Look

air jordan xx3 chris paul hornets home pe detailed look 9 Air Jordan XX3 Chris Paul Hornets Home PE | Detailed Look

Chris Paul’s departure from New Orleans put an end to the festive, Mardi Gras-inspired colorways of teals, golds, and purples seen in his Jordan CP3 signatures as well as Air Jordan PEs. One of the more notable Air Jordan x CP3 connections was this Air Jordan XX3, which feature a luurious white leather upper matched with teal blue stitching on the upper panel, thicker gold contrast stitching, and the jeweled midsole in the teal blue. On the tongue is Paul’s ’3′ logo laser-etched into the tongue, with Michael Jordan’s thumbprint on the opposite face. We’ve shown you this Air Jordan XX3 PE before, but there are actually a few others around – the Black/Baby Blue, a similar White/Baby Blue, and a White/Red/Black version from over three years ago. Check out the detailed gallery of this teal-based Home PE of the Air Jordan XX3 and stick with Sneaker News for more PE news and updates!

Air Jordan Art By Robb Harskamp

air jordan art harksy 1 Air Jordan Art By Robb Harskamp

Two weeks ago, Sneaker News showed you some dope sneaker art by Rhyen, a series of Air Jordans, Nikes, Reeboks, and other classics drawn up in a bubbly, cartoonized style. That collection of sneakers, titled ‘Kick Draw‘ was actually inspired by the great artwork of Robb Harskamp, who first created his own collection of Air Jordans, commissioned by Nike for Tinker Hatfield’s 30th Anniversary Party. Robb’s work featured the classic Bulls colorways of some of Tinker’s most memorable Air Jordan creations spanning from Air Jordan III to XX3, and once Robb was completed with his set, Rhyen felt compelled to carry on the baton by continuing Robb’s extraordinary work and branching out into other brands. If you enjoyed last week’s segment, check out the true OG of that unique style of sneaker art below, and check out his full portfolio at Harsky for a look at some of his other sick work, like with the NBA Dunk Contest, NBA Championship Rings and various professional sports teams.
