During the All-Star Weekend in Houston, TX, Jordan Brand displayed a series of Air Jordan XX8 concepts behind glass showcases to boast the incredible design ideas of the XX8 – a shoe once thought to be “too plain” thanks to the monotone shroud upper. Those notions were quickly erased as Jordan featured several graphic prints on the upper, like this interesting composition of what appeared to be fragments of origami. Turns out the Air Jordan XX8 “Fractal Elephant Print” as Jordan Brand calls it were made specially for the 2013 Jordan Brand Classic, which goes down on April 13th at the Barclays Center. Will we see “Fractal Elephant Print” on Air Jordan Retros – particularly the Air Jordan III? You already know that Nike is ready and waiting to get the ball rolling on one of the biggest sporting events of the year, and there’s no doubt that the Swoosh will make its mark in the 2013 NCAA March Madness Tournament. 76% of the NCAA teams in the Big Dance will be rocking Nike gear, with a special focus on the Nike Hyperdisruptor being the on-feet selection for most of the 52 Nike squads entering the tournament. Get your brackets ready and choose your upsets wisely, but March Madness is ready to begin! In case you hadn’t noticed, Russell Westbrook is very much the flag bearer for the Air Jordan XX8 as far as NBA players go. His tenure in the sneakers of course includes plenty of player exclusive pairs, a group which is put on full display here. Shown are four separate sneakers that only Wesbtrook is privy to so far, including a couple straightforward orange and blue affairs, one with a jumbo ‘Why Not’ hit on the outer shroud, and a white based perforated pair. It’s been quite some time since we checked up on the Michael Jordan Motorsports team and their various bits of Air Jordan inspired gear. The latest item in that realm is this Air Jordan XX8-inspired Suzuki GSX-R100. The bike picks up on the recent Air Jordan XX8 ‘Blue Camo’ colorway, grabbing the same wavy pattern that has been a huge hit for the sneaker at retail. Do you have a pair of the Air Jordan XX8 yet? If you’re not quite ready to plop down $250 for them you can still try them out thanks to the latest NBA 2K13 patch. The just released patch allows you to put a pair of Jordan Brand’s newest sig on the feet of your player. There’s at least one more Air Jordan XX8 style wearing the wavy camo pattern in the form of the Air Jordan XX8 ‘Joker’ shown here. As you can see, the inner bootie goes for the purple and green look where the outside sports a clean black and white. Apparently a handful of sneaker stores across the nation had this Air Jordan XX8 colorway on shelves for a little bit, but they’ve since been pulled for unknown reasons and a release at this point looks iffy. As has been the custom as of late, the Air Jordan XX8 will eventually transition into the Air Jordan XX8 Lite, a sneaker set to shave some height off the extended shroud design of this year’s player shoe. Shown here are the first few shots of the Air Jordan XX8 Lite, which appears to get rid of the zip up option in favor of a more straightforward mid-cut sneaker. A successful release of the ‘Stealth’ and the ‘Green Camo’ colorways of the Air Jordan XX8 officially kicked things off during the All-Star Weekend, and there’s no doubt that the excitement is building. If you’re ready for more colorways, Jordan Brand has three to choose from tomorrow – the Red, Yellow, and Blue ‘Camo’ colorways to be exact. Unofficially dubbed the ‘Color’ Pack, this trio of XX8 colorways will be available at Jordan Brand retailers tomorrow, so pick out your favorite of the three and join in on the XX8 influence by copping a pair tomorrow.
