AIR YEEZY 2
The Air Yeezy 2 is the second signature shoe of Kanye West. The two known colorways is the Pure Platinum/Wolf Grey and Black/Solar Red; the first release of the Pure Platinum/Wolf Grey colorway is currently rumored for June 2012.
Updates regarding the Air Yeezy 2 release always seem to report a change, but just yesterday, Sneaker News provided you with a simple reminder that Air Yeezy 2 launch is still on schedule for June 9th in Australia. Production numbers are very limited (the entire continent of Australia is getting just 60 pairs total) so you can guess just how crazy the release will be (Nike’s nixing of camp-outs and midnight releases should definitely soothe the tension). While we’ve yet to see detailed images of the Black/Solar Red colorway straight from Nike, these continue to be spotted on the feet of some of Kanye’s and Nike’s VVIP (the extra V is intended); here we get a close-up On-Feet look at the Black/Solar Red joints from Jerry Lorenzo and you can clearly see the amount of detail that was packed into this sensitive project. Up until now, the Air Yeezy 2 has strictly been a ‘VIP’ only affair, with fellas by the names of Jay-Z, Shawn Pecas (one of Def Jam’s top dogs), and LeBron James being the very select group of people with the shoes on feet. The release of the Air Yeezy 2 has been subject to change possibly in response to the advanced camp-outs that were reported months before the rumored April 2012 release date, but confirmed data of a June drop later quieted the rumors of a complete cancellation of the much-hyped sneaker release. Since we provided you the info on a June release, not much more has been said regarding the shoe, but this latest update from Australian retailer Laced confirms that the Air Yeezy 2 ETA is right on schedule – June 9th, both colorways.
To get an idea of how limited they will be, the entire continent of Australia will receive sixty total pairs, and Laced will hold their own raffle to ensure a fair shot to those who attend their release party on the night of the release. We’ll keep you updated with more information regarding stateside release details, but keep in mind that June 9th is the target date for this summer blockbuster.

Jay-Z is all about the ‘power moves’ these days, displaying one earlier today as he announced the Made In America Music Festival that will be held in Philadelphia during Labor Day Weekend. There will be twenty-seven musical acts covering a wide range of genres, with HOV acting as the headlining act of the occasion. During the announcement, where he was joined by Mayor of Philadelphia Michael Nutter, Jay-Z wore the Nike Air Yeezy 2 in the ‘Pure Platinum’ colorway, which followed his recent sighting with the Black/Pink counterpart. With the upcoming release of the Wolf Grey/Pure Platinum Air Yeezy 2, many sneakerheads have been pondering the thought of future Air Yeezy 2 colorways aside from the confirmed Black/Solar Red joints. Even going back to the original Air Yeezy, there were a number of unreleased samples of the Air Yeezy that Kanye wore around from the time to time, so there certainly is potential for the Air Yeezy 2 to mystify. At this point, any change in the release info for Kanye’s next shoe shouldn’t come as a surprise, so this recent news from Solebox of a globally postponed release surfacing from out of Europe could be just another bump in the rocky road of the Nike Air Yeezy 2. The final destination sure looks worth it, but it looks like sneakerheads may have a wait a bit longer to get their hands on theirs. Do those that have been camping out since late-February have more time to enjoy the outdoors? You might even recollect Kanye’s mind-boggling 24K gold Horus chain and pyramid rings during his appearance at the 2010 BET Awards, which generated a ton of interest from various pop-culture blogs worldwide; the chain worn around his neck represented the Bird God known as Horus, who is recognized as the God of War and the God of the Sky, so Kanye’s intense affinity to such a powerful icon could, quite frankly, be very well understood. With such a profound sense and conceptualization of fashion, it’s very clear that a lot of thought has gone into the Air Yeezy 2 design, and his demand for perfection is likely one reason why the Air Yeezy 2 never seemed to find the right time for a release – until now. While release information for the Air Yeezy 2 continues to be cloudy, Sneaker News still hooked it up with official colorways as well as the news that the rumored March 23rd release was not going down (pushed back to a later date). The only other updates around for the Air Yeezy 2 arrives when the select few in Kanye’s circle gets to wear ‘em out and about, just like how Jay-Z did during the Nets/Clippers game last night. Jay-Z rocked his Solar Red Yeezy 2′s with a matching Diamond Supply fitted cap (that stock just went up, didn’t it?) and a gold chain that could probably be seen from outer space.
