Part of the equation Jordan Brand Classic 2013 is basketball, and the showcasing of young talent and future superstars. But another part of the equation, one just as crucial, is the goal of bringing together a mini-community of athletes and providing them with a once-in-a-lifetime experience crafted by the Jordan Brand. Leading up to the trio of games on Saturday, the kids bopped around NYC and discovered the heritage of the brand throughout the city, from a sit down event with Spike Lee and Sway out in Brooklyn to a trip to Gleason’s Gym for some boxing with Andre Ward.
Of course yet another aspect of the event is its star studded status, one that was particularly prevalent this year thanks to this year’s New York/Brooklyn locale. Countless athletes, rappers, and the like were spotted courtside (Amar’e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Victor Cruz, and Fabolous just to name a few). And then there was the Drake concert immediately following the final game which brought everybody out of their seats at the culmination of the evening. Continue reading to see what the Jordan Brand Classic kids were up to before the games went down, the celebrities that showed up, Drake’s explosive performance, and more in our Jordan Brand Classic 2013 event recap.

The awesome NBA superstar-inspired set of Bespoke designs, which include the awesome Paul Pierce and David Robinson compositions, gets a new addition as we get a first look at this sick Amare Stoudemire-inspired creation. Using the revered Knicks colors as the base, Layupshot uses a smooth suede on the upper for a no-frills detailing (just like how the Knicks jerseys have continued to be one of the most recognized and respected uniforms in sports history) with Stoudemire aspects like his initials and jersey number embroidered around the shoe. A detailed gallery of this simple yet powerful Bespoke design is right ahead, so check it out and let us know what you think!

The Hyperposite really began to gain steam thanks to Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire and his energetic orange/blue PE of the shoe, but it appears that he’ll be rocking another colorway for Home games – this White/Royal colorway spotted on his feet during NBA Media Day 2012. It’s not just Amare though; top NBA Forwards like David Lee and Chris Bosh have rocked their own PEs, as have several other players (you can see them by flipping through the Media Day gallery). More shots of STAT’s Hyperposites after the jump.

Part of Carmelo Anthony’s trip to Puerto Rico this past weekend included a charity softball game, attended by several of his teammates like Amare Stoudemire and Raymond Felton and New York Yankees great Bernie Williams. Melo and Amare were spotted with some Air Jordans on – Melo with the 2011 Air Jordan III ‘Black History Month’ and STAT with the recently dropped White/Red Air Jordan IV. As we near Training Camp for the 2012-13 NBA Season, look for a rejuvenated Carmelo and a spry Amare (who is most certainly poised for a bounce-back season) this upcoming campaign. More of the Knicks stars after the jump, so take a look and let us know what you think of their ‘feet’ selection!

The Nike Air Max Hyperposite is a sneaker that seems to be very much caught up in the Big Apple, some of the most interest inducing designs to make their way to the silo so far being centered around the fine tradition of NYC hoops. Keep in mind though that before that and the ‘Statue of Liberty’ pair popped up there was this, an Amare Stoudemire specific creation that sports his logo on the tongue along with a heavy Knicks palette. The frequency with which these have popped up seems to suggest that they might indeed see a retail release. Stick with Sneaker News for the final word on that and make sure to hit the jump for the full photos.

The beauty of Training is that it doesn’t really fall under one categorical sport. If anything, Training rises above all categories in hierarchy and prepares individuals for that a-game approach to any sport. For Amare Stoudemire, proper Training allowed him to be one of the best players in the league last year and was a serious MVP candidate, but injuries and roster mix-ups slowed him down a bit this season, but there’s no doubt that STAT will be Standing Tall this upcoming campaign – he’s even employed the services of all-time great Hakeem Olajuwon (Dwight Howard and LeBron James also thrived under his tutelage). We’re certain Amare will come back to his normal form, so let’s hope the channel of STAT PEs continues, like this Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid PE made available by dballaholic on eBay.
