asics fall 2014 preview 2 A Full Preview of Asics Fall 2014 Releases

The Asics Gel Lyte III is one of those timeless retro silhouettes that you just can’t imagine will ever be lacking in popularity. The model is, at this point, an undeniable staple of the retro footwear lineup for the brand, and is consistently getting the big up treatment from various partners on the collaborations side. But if you’re not also up on the likes of the Asics Gel Saga, the Asics Gel Lyte V, Asics GT-Cool, and the soon to return Asics GT Quick then you’re doing yourself a disservice; all models, which fall in the heralded GT heritage, are champions in their own right, and with Asics poised to bring back the latter models, expect them to regain a level of GLIII prominence.

The amount of split-tongue retro runners that are out there is about to see a pretty sharp increase. You can blame that on the return of the Asics GT-Cool, a model that also sports that unique cushioning system for its innards. We can only assume that the model will get passed around the collab scene sooner or later (We see you Extra Butter), but for now you can stay busy picking up your inline pairs. Get familiar with this white/green/blue/grey version after the break and then pick them up courtesy of Feature Sneaker Boutique.

Asics GT-Cool – Blue – White – Orange

Joining the black/white and mint colorway that just touched down at select retailers is another Asics GT-Cool pictured above.  These have a bit more colorful feel overall, with royal and navy blues working together on the upper, which has less white relative the aforementioned pair, just the toe and Tiger stripes.  What really makes these are the orange hits on the midsole, eyelets and branding outlines, and the total effect is a high energy look that’s not over the top but still feels a bit more springy and warm than the traditional fall palettes.  Click through to see this split-tongued classic in more photos, then pick up a pair from retailers like Bows & Arrows.

Asics’ retro catalog is getting a bit more diverse in 2013 thanks to the re-introduction of the Asics GT-Cool. The model is one that sports the familiar split-tongue set up, a detail that’s most commonly been associated with the Asics Gel Lyte III. We already know that the sneakers will be going down the collab route soon enough thanks to that reptilian set of Extra Butter bangers that are on their way. See this inline version in full detail with us after the break and then grab the Asics GT-Cool in this white/black/mint colorway for yourself from the team at Bows and Arrows for $95.
