German sneaker supplier Solebox is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Exactly one month ago today, the Berlin-based boutique published a retrospective on its many collaborative designs, and though only one of those designs (in two versions) came in conjunction with the Onitsuka Tiger, that glow in the dark Gel Lyte III was one of the late ’00s drops that helped set the stage for Ronnie Fieg’s seemingly overnight success. Unfortunately for fans of that pair, it appears the upcoming Solebox x Asics six-pack may never see the light of day, with rumors swirling that two pairs each of Solebox x Asics Gel Lyte IIIs, Gel Sagas and GT-IIs may become one of the largest and most impressive sets of shelved sneakers in recent memory. Click through to get a look at what could have been (and might still have a chance to be?), let us know if you would have copped and stick with Sneaker News for updates.

The as yet unopened boutique Bait has a name that reflects the careful teasing with which it’s being rolled out, and it looks like they’ll have something to lure everyone when their doors open to sunny Orange County, California this June. Fresh off the revelation of their Saucony Grid 9000 comes the first individual looks at the Bait x Asics ‘Rings Pack’, a quintet of classic runners that represent the five rings of the Olympic flag. This ‘Yellow Ring’ Asics GT-II is a sign of things to come from this collection, as the guest designers add an extra layer of complexity via carefully chosen asymmetrical colorblocking. The Bait x Asics ‘Five Rings’ pack includes three silhouettes spread across five colorways symbolizing the quadrennially ubiquitous Olympic flag. Following up on the ‘Yellow Ring’ GT-II, this pair pictured above now represents both the wrap-up for that silo in this set and the ‘Red Ring’ from that quintet of interlocking circles. These Bait x Asics GT-IIs are the most aggressive of the entire collection, their bold Chicago-style palette made all the more eye-catching thanks to reflective 3M treatments on the side panel striping. They don’t have an asymmetrical element as in the case of the yellow edition, but does this sneakerhead favorite colorway has what it takes to come home with the gold? Let us know after you’ve had a chance to check out more images below, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for updates on the Bait x Asics Gel Lyte IIIs and Gel Saga, as well as release info for the entire ‘Five Rings’ pack. via Sneaker Freaker

Is any brand gaining more from their range of collaborative drops than Asics these days? The Onitsuka Tiger is crushing it in the old school running market thanks to highly coveted collabos from designers like Ronnie Fieg as well as an impressive range of boutique-based styles from shops including Solebox, 24 Kilates, Highs & Lows and Woei. And now you can add a store that’s not even open to that list, as Bait comes through with an Olympic-themed run that tops all four of those stores, combined. The Bait x Asics ‘Rings Pack’ features five pairs spread across Asics’ three most popular old school silhouettes: the Gel Lyte III, GT-II and Gel Saga. Each features a slightly different blocking pattern, with colorways ranging from today’s modern tonal looks to full-on high-contrast. Stick with Sneaker News to find out more about Bait and their Asics ‘Rings Pack’, and let us know which one’s best when you click through for more photos. via SM

Sneaker Freaker teased with a look at an upcoming Asics collaboration with Aussie sneaker boutique Highs & Lows dubbed the ‘Bricks & Mortar’ Pack, highlighting the Gel Lyte III and the GT-II. All we were given were two shots of the tongue labels, which shows the cryptic HAL compass-and-square logo, but today, we’re pulling off the covers and showing you full shots of the Gel Lyte III and the GT-II, which are currently featured in the latest Sneaker Freaker Issue. With colorways as simple and time-tested as the name suggests, the HAL x Asics ‘Bricks & Mortar’ Pack additionally features special edition insoles on both pairs. You can take a closer look at both after the jump as well as in the latest issue of Sneaker Freaker, so let us know what you think after you give them a quick review. Photos: higuy on NT

Highs and Lows is a sneaker boutique in Perth, Australia, but the way their latest collaborative concept slips and slides across multiple layers suggests they’d be right at home in Houston. This new ‘Bricks and Mortar’ pack brings together two Highs and Lows x Asics classics, the former represented on the GT-II and the later a new Gel Lyte III. The theme extends beyond the 7th anniversary of the HAL store and connects with the most notorious bricklayers in the world as conspiracy-minded sneakerheads will be able to see ‘HAL’ in the tongues’ compass-and-square logo. The result is a fully fleshed-out multilayered theme that’s every bit as subtle as you’d expect from a secret society and you can see more of the first teaser images below. via SneakerFreaker

DJ Clark Kent’s acumen in the Swoosh realm of footwear has been well documented, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a lover of all sneakers equally. Proving that point is this quick set of shots he recently fired off, putting his early pair of the next Ronnie Fieg x Asics collaboration on display. The Ronnie Fieg x Asics GT-II ‘SuperRed 2.0′ sees the Kith front-man stepping away from the split tongue designs for a second in favor of something more orthodox, again painting the silhouette with his signature dipped suede look. Let us know if you’re planning to cop and stick with Sneaker News for release info on the Ronnie Fieg x Asics GT-II ‘SuperRed 2.0′.
