asics gt ii netherlands Asics GT II Netherlands

The Olympics are a great opportunity for footwear brands to go H.A.M. with country-specific colorways, so it’s understandable that sneakerheads harbor even more appreciation for the quadrennial global affair. Just take another look at this ‘Netherlands’ colorway of the Asics GT-II; it features the country’s red, white, and blue flag colors on the outsole and the uppermost eyelets, but the majority of the sneaker is dominated by a rich orange-y golden suede/mesh upper with the soft white sport mesh on the toe and ankle collar. Does Asics have more country colorways on the way? We’ll keep you posted if they do, but in the meantime, check out the Asics GT-II ‘Netherlands’ below and head on over to Europe’s TGWO to cop ‘em for yourself.

asics fall winter 2012 preview Asics Fall/Winter 2012 Preview

Asics recently brought back a couple of late ’90s Gel X-Tra classics for the first time ever, their resurrection a clear indication that the Onitsuka Tiger’s other classic runners are doing better than ever before.  Today we see the brand’s three most popular silhouettes ready with one style each for the Gel Saga and GT-II and two for the longtime leader and design without which arguably none of the others would exist: the Asics Gel Lyte III.  You’ll see all four pairs in greater detail below, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for release info.  via SS

Netherlands Olympic Team x Asics GT-II

netherlands olympic team x asics gt ii Netherlands Olympic Team x Asics GT II

The Netherlands is no stranger to awesome Asics collaborations, having long enjoyed projects from the likes of Patta and related parties that pair up retro runners with distinct Dutch flavor. The latest release to come from there is no product of some boutique team-up, but rather a collaboration between Asics and the nation’s Olympic squad itself. The model selected here is the Asics GT-II, with two slightly different colorways (check the sole for differences) riffing off the orange we’ve come to associate with the country on a national sporting level and the tri-color eyelets bringing things in a bit closer to their flag. Click through for shots of the Olympic Team Netherlands x Asics GT-II package, complete with a matching bag, which will be available at SEVENTYFIVE in Amsterdam on July 21. A wider European release sans bag will go down on July 28th.

Sneakersnstuff x Asics GT-II Preview

June 19th, 2012 by | No comments

sneakersnstuff x asics gt ii1 Sneakersnstuff x Asics GT II Preview The collaborative output from the team at Sneakersnstuff has been sort of a Jekyll/Hyde affair, with the pairs produced ranging from extra bright to solemn and stoic. The new Asics GT-II they’re cooking up, the second time they’ve worked on that silhouette in as many years, is certainly more in line with the toned down category, blocked off with a simple black and white colorway that could be borrowed from the ‘Yin & Yang’ set of Asics Gel Lyte III’s from earlier this year. The suede sneakers do bring in just a bit of patterning, lining the innards with a checkerboard look. Click through to peep the pair and stick with Sneaker News for info on when this Sneakersnstuff x Asics GT-II will arrive. Photos: Tenisufki

Solebox x Asics “Gel Pack”

German sneaker supplier Solebox is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.  Exactly one month ago today, the Berlin-based boutique published a retrospective on its many collaborative designs, and though only one of those designs (in two versions) came in conjunction with the Onitsuka Tiger, that glow in the dark Gel Lyte III was one of the late ’00s drops that helped set the stage for Ronnie Fieg’s seemingly overnight success.  Unfortunately for fans of that pair, it appears the upcoming Solebox x Asics six-pack may never see the light of day, with rumors swirling that two pairs each of Solebox x Asics Gel Lyte IIIs, Gel Sagas and GT-IIs may become one of the largest and most impressive sets of shelved sneakers in recent memory.  Click through to get a look at what could have been (and might still have a chance to be?), let us know if you would have copped and stick with Sneaker News for updates.

Bait x Asics GT-II ‘Rings Pack’ – Red

bait x asics gt ii rings pack red Bait x Asics GT II Rings Pack Red

The Bait x Asics ‘Five Rings’ pack includes three silhouettes spread across five colorways symbolizing the quadrennially ubiquitous Olympic flag.  Following up on the ‘Yellow Ring’ GT-II, this pair pictured above now represents both the wrap-up for that silo in this set and the ‘Red Ring’ from that quintet of interlocking circles.  These Bait x Asics GT-IIs are the most aggressive of the entire collection, their bold Chicago-style palette made all the more eye-catching thanks to reflective 3M treatments on the side panel striping.  They don’t have an asymmetrical element as in the case of the yellow edition, but does this sneakerhead favorite colorway has what it takes to come home with the gold?  Let us know after you’ve had a chance to check out more images below, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for updates on the Bait x Asics Gel Lyte IIIs and Gel Saga, as well as release info for the entire ‘Five Rings’ pack.  via Sneaker Freaker
