atmos, the authors of some of the greatest Air Max 1 symphonies of all-time, come back with two insane masterpieces of the ’87 runner for 2013. We showed you a preview of the two pairs some time ago, but we’re getting a first detailed look at each pair – both of which were spotted at the Project NYC Trade Show. The ‘Army Camo’ pair is teamed up with a luxurious black snakeskin material on the toe-box, upper quarter, and tongue, completing yet another seamless mix of contrasting materials that we’ve seen atmos accomplish plenty of times before. These were originally noted as January 2013 releases, but no updates have been made as of yet – although we can expect them to drop this year among a slew of other atmos collaborations. A detailed gallery is just below so take a look and stay tuned for a look at the second ‘Desert Camo’ pair.

The ‘Safari’, ‘Viotech’, ‘Elephant Print’, and ‘Wild Beast’ designs of the Air Max 1 are regarded as some of the best Air Max 1s of all-time, so the sudden news of two upcoming AM1 collabs by atmos was certain cause for celebration. News of the atmos x Air Max 1 for 2013 did catch us by surprise, considering Nike collaborations have been a rare occurrence (and the last Air Max 1 collaboration, which came in 2010, was deemed the best sneaker of the year). Here we have a look at a sublime mix of tiger camouflage and a black python snake-skin upper – one of two compositions expected to release this January; atmos, once again, displays its affinity for premium materials with distinct textures/graphics, but whether or not these live up to the atmos standard is still up for debate. A full shot is right ahead, so take a look and give us your opinions on this much-anticipated release.

A true heavy-hitter in the sneaker collabo realm, Japan-based atmos will unveil two Air Max 1 designs this January 2013. While both pairs are supremely distinct from one another, both pairs are anchored by a unique concept of mixing military camouflage with an animal print, seen in the earthy desert-camo/cheetah print and the black python snakeskin and tiger-camo that spins off a tropical rainforest vibe. atmos has shown no reservation with using animal prints on its collaborations, with the late-2006 release of the Air Max 1 Supreme ‘Beast’ Pack being an indicator of their affinity toward fashionable details in wildlife. We’ll keep you posted on this exciting collaboration so check out the solo shots below and stay tuned for more updates.
