Earlier this week, we gave you a first look at an alternate version of the Air Jordan IX Premio, done up in a mix of chocolatey leathers as opposed to the gaudy gold of the released version. This sample version actually comes off looking a lot like the Air Jordan II from the Bin 23 Collection, perhaps hinting at an original plan to make the collection as a whole more cohesive color-wise. The “Premio” title on these is definitely deserved, with the supreme leather being far above what you would see on a general release, with extras like the raw hide laces pushing them over the top. As if it wasn’t enough to simultaneously titillate and torture us with the exquisite white and University Blue Air Jordan Legacy showcase AND its laser-etched counterparts last August, Jordan Brand head man Gentry Humprhey showed up at the event wearing yet more unobtainable heat.  In the intervening months, we’ve seen the Air Jordan VII ‘Bin 23′ hit select retailers and sell out in a snap, but Gentry’s logo-less look-see samples are still the stuff of legend.  Check out these new photos of this insanely clean design, one that also eschews the AJ7 Premio’s signature heel graphic in favor of all-over white tumbled leather.  Are these better than the released model or do those more accurately capture the Seven’s essence?  Click through for a better look and let us know which pair you prefer.  via carter1203 on Kenlu

Sometimes collecting sneakers can go a long, long way. Meet Alex Meacham, a big-time collector of Jordans and former player for the Cincinnati Bearcats Mens Basketball Team. Recently, Meacham was the recipient of one of the biggest sneaker honors, in which he was asked for input for the Air Jordan V Premio of the Bin 23 Collection – the Jordan model that happens to be his favorite of all time. Although the colorway seen on the Premio V isn’t necessarily new, Meacham discusses in significance behind the white shoelaces (Jordan switched to white laces for one night and dropped an easy 48). Meacham’s sneakerhead history is one that we can not only relate to, but hope that we can emulate, as his fervor for Jordans has led him to some great opportunities and friendships today. The Jordan Brand Bin 23 Collection was introduced in Spring 2010 as a premium collection of Air Jordans 1-XX3 constructed of the finest materials and luxurious colorways. The colorways selected for the Jordan Brand Bin 23 Collection are in fact ideas from the past that were ‘lost’ and obviously thrown in the backburner in favor of other colorways. The Air Jordan V, for example, never released in black leather for men, and so for the Spring 2011 release of the Jordan Brand Bin 23 Collection, the preeminent basketball footwear label has decided to bring back black leather on the Air Jordan V. The colorway itself isn’t new, as we’ve seen the Black/Metallic Silver combination on the released version, but the buttery leather adds another level of bliss to these already indulgent Jordans. These will be available at the most select Jordan Brand retailers around the world and tomorrow is the official U.S. release date (and due to a delivery delay House of Hoops will release these next week), so take another look below and don’t forget to get one of the 2,133 pairs in existence. Sneaker News already gave you an instant look at Ray Allen’s Air Jordan XIII PE that he wore during last night’s record-breaking game against the Los Angeles Lakers. During the pregame shoot-around, Ray Allen also wore mis-matched Jordans – the Air Jordan IX Premio on his left foot and the Air Jordan XI PE on his right. While Ray’s already worn the Gold/Green/White XIs before, this is the first time the long-time Jordan Brand athlete has worn a pair of Premios on the court – although it didn’t see any in-game action. Why the Premio IX and Jordan XI? IX + XI = XX, or 20, which is Ray’s current jersey number with the Celtics.
