It’s a shame that Bo Jackson had to opt for baseball over football later in his career after a hip injury sidelined him from returning to the Oakland Raiders. Perhaps we’d have a few more installments of Bo Jackson trainers to look forward to in terms of retros, but today we get a preview of a brand new colorway of the Nike Air Trainer SC II High that keeps things rather simple thanks to a white and grey base. Add in a few hints of vibrant red on the strap and Swoosh while a creamsicle orange reminiscent of the old school Tampa Bay Buccaneers hits the lining and outsole and the retro sneaker should turn a few heads. Stick around after the click for a better view and know that you can pick up this latest release via select retailers like Jimmy Jazz.

bo jackson 21 mercer in store event Bo Jackson to Appear at 21 Mercer In Store Event on 1/31

21 Mercer will be hosting the incredibly knowledgeable Bo Jackson this Friday, January 31st. There’s no word just yet on what said event will consist of, but we wouldn’t be surprised if there was some limited edition product available a la their in-store event with Rasheed Wallace from last year. Also-the teaser image associated with the event features a rather “Silver Speed” look to it, so we wouldn’t be surprised if those sneakers played a part. Tell us down in the comments if you plan to show up and remember that the event will take place at 5PM on Friday the 31st at 21 Mercer.

Every once in a while you’ll see Nike outfit a space with some creative sneaker art, stuff that interprets their shoes into crazy shapes and sculptures. More often than not those places will be in Portland, but they do go on the road from time to time. The recent opening of a new Orange County branch of California boutique/art gallery/design studio combo illest got the treatment, with decorations including a My Pink Pony Foamposite, an awesome Bo Jackson version of the classic MJ “Wings” poster, and an Air Jordan III shaped skateboard done in Laketown colors. Continue reading to get a photo recap and make sure to stop by the newly opened illest spot if you’re in the neighborhood. Photos: John Pangilinan for Sneaker News

They’ve had their doors closed for a minute now though, with the grand re-opening taking place today, September 27th. The 50,000 square foot space is set to be steeped in Chicago history, paying homage via Chicago Bears historical photos, a complete collection of Jordan footwear on display, and more. And if that’s not enough for you Bo Jackson will be hanging out as well for the ribbon cutting. Nike Trainers have come a long way from the mid-cut forefoot-strapped Air Trainer 1 to the modern-day Free or Air Max-soled renditions we see today. Combining state-of-the-art design and function with one of the most historic Air Trainers of all-time is this sick one-of-one sample of the Nike Air Max TR1 360 designed after Bo Jackson’s ‘Auburn’ colorway of the Nike Air Trainer SC; it clearly takes on some of the most notable details of the Air Trainer SC, like the perforated leather upper and the outrigger fortified by the tensile cables embedded into the material (a predecessor to Flywire, if you will). You won’t ever see these release, but this one-of-one sample is here for your viewing so check out the gallery below and see what the asking price is from identitiesrevealed on eBay.

“If I could just a little bit of sunshine in their life…”

Bo knows how to inspire. The multi-sport mega-athlete is embarking on a 300-mile biking journey through his home state of Alabama, which is currently mired in a state of disarray as it was recently hit with a massive tornado. Bo Jackson’s goal? To raise $1 million for the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund to assist with the recovery. Joining him are a group of other prominent Nike athletes, like Ken Griffey Jr., Scottie Pippen, Lance Armstrong, and Picabo Street, and during this ride, Bo will wear four special colorways of the Nike LunarTR1 decorated in colors that represent his success and contributions to his former college and professional teams, like Auburn and the LA Raiders. At the end of the ride, a special event will take place this Saturday at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheatre with Bo, the families of the victims, ride sponsors, survivors, and more. Take a look at the inspirational video below and check out all four colorways of these ‘Bo Bikes ‘Bama’ colorways and let us know what you think.
