CARMELO ANTHONY Carmelo Anthony is the first signature athlete for Jordan Brand and has his own line of sneakers called the Jordan Melo. Carmelo Anthony currently plays for the New York Knicks and previously played for the Denver Nuggets. He also won an NCAA National Championship in Syracuse.

With the Air Jordan XII set for a revival beginning in April, let’s take a look back at some of the rarest Air Jordan XII PEs we’ve ever seen. The Air Jordan XII has been one of the more common PEs around, but when you see them grouped together like these five ‘Home’ white-based pairs, you can’t help but drop your jaw in awe. Spotted at the recent Sneaker Con event in Miami at the SoleFly table was this sick mini-capsule of Air Jordan Player Exclusives – two Ray Allen joints, one for Carmelo Anthony, one for Richard Hamilton, and the last for the retired Michael Finley. All feature the white leather uppers with a secondary color-blocking matching their team uniforms, with the Melo standing out with the partially-white midsole at the forefoot. Think this is the best set of Air Jordan XII PEs? Not so fast: Let us remind you of the sick Air Jordan XII collection of Jay Jones that was featured on Sneaker News almost three years ago. We’ve got a full gallery of images for you below so take a look and let us know what is your fave!

Apparently the NBA heard us loud and clear when we said the NCAA boys have the NBA ballers clearly beat in the ‘Feet’ category, but this weekend’s collection of sneakers might flip that script. Starting off with Monta Ellis’ Air Jordan ‘Bred’ display, we caught a slew of awesome Air Jordans, Nike Basketball PEs, and St. Patty’s Day PEs that stole the spotlight from the Second Round of NCAA Tourney games. Josh Howard wore a White/Green PE of the Air Jordan XIII that was identical to the Ray Allen PE – with the exception of the ‘Ray’ logo on the tongue. Nate Robinson and Jared Jeffries wore the Air Jordan X ‘Stealth’, while a couple of Knickerbockers sported some awesome St. Patty’s digs – namely Carmelo’s Melo M8 and Mike Bibby repping the Jordan CP3.V. Amare Stoudemire and DeMarcus Cousins rocked their All-Star Game ‘Galaxy’ PEs, Ty Lawson got his ‘Dunkman’ on, and Kobe swapped out of the ‘Attack Strong’ insole for his Kobe VII ‘Lakers’. We’ve got an immense attack of NBA Feet below so take a good look and let us know who rocked the best kicks! via Yahoo

One of the first non-Knicks colorways of the Jordan Melo M8 was this Anthracite/White-Varsity Maize that many quickly dubbed the ‘NYC Taxi’ colorway. The New York City specific is rather clear on this one, but what remained hazy was the actual release date of this shoe. Jordan Brand originally intended to drop these in December of 2011, but that information was pulled back the Melo M8 ‘Taxi’ was never seen again. That is, until now: Nikestore just stocked this colorway, so check out the extra angles below for a quick refresher and heat there to hail your own.

The highest regard goes to Carmelo Anthony, who led Syracuse to its first ever National Championship in his Freshman year, earning the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player Award will receiving praise from coach Jim Boeheim, who called Melo the best player in college ball by far, emphatically making his point with “It wasn’t even close”. Carmelo Anthony just accomplished something that very few NBA players do in their careers – start an NBA All-Star Game for both conferences. A guy like Melo will always receive a ton of votes from fans, and with the wider exposure in New York City, you can consider him a sure bet to start at the ’3′ for several years. After dropping 19 and 9 during the most recent All-Star gathering, Melo’s back on the grind and focusing on a Playoff push with newfound star teammate Jeremy Lin, and for the second half, he’s got a new colorway of the Melo M8 to look forward to – this Pitch Blue/Stealth-White colorway. Syracuse, Marquette, and Wake Forest – the three schools responsible for honing the skills of three of today’s most talented NBA superstars. Carmelo Anthony was without question the most successful of the bunch, winning a National Title with Syracuse in 2003, but Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul also had their success in the tournament, with Wade almost facing off against Melo in the 2003 Final. Jordan Brand will commemorate this year’s March Madness tournament with special colorways of the three Jordan Brand signatures modeled after their schools; Chris Paul’s Jordan CP3.V will be colored in a Black/Gold, Melo’s Jordan Melo M8 will be full of ‘Orange’, and Dwyane Wade’s Jordan Fly Wade 2 will be adorned with the regal University Gold. The entire Jordan Brand March Madness Pack will become available next Thursday on March 8th, so let us know which of the three you like best and give us your predictions for this year’s NCAA National Championship!
