Has Carmelo Anthony been given the sole responsibility of introducing the next iteration of his Jordan Brand signature sneaker to the world? Either that or he’s just really excited about the upcoming Jordan Melo M8 Advance, an updated take on his current silo that looks to lighten things up with a Hyperfuse approach. Following his recent trio of previews he’s blasted off another Instagram photo, this time around showing off a cool blue colorway he’s touting as ‘Italian Icy’. Carmelo Anthony returned to his birthplace in the middle of the 2010-11 NBA season, so Jordan Brand took the opportunity to shake things up with his seventh Jumpman signature. The Melo M7 Advance and Future Sole represented the addition of Flywire and a guest designer, respectively, and now we some of this tinkering recombined and twisted into the next Advance release. The Jordan Melo M8 Advance trades Kevlar strands for a Hyperfuse-style laminated mesh, and the ‘Legion of Doom’ colorway in particular indirectly references a future where copyright law is applied as inconsistently as gasoline is available. That WWE-inspired design is joined by a more traditional Knicks ’home’ look and another Chicago-style design created in tribute to Anthony’s Red Hook section of Brooklyn; might a Taz(z) colorway be on tap as well? Just how many ways can you really re-mix White, Red, and Black on an Air Jordan and make it look completely different? According to Carmelo Anthony’s stash of goodies, the possibilities are aplenty. The Jordan Brand athlete and Olympic Gold Medalist decided to take the time to show off some of his Air Jordan IV exclusives, like the White/Red/Black with a Gold Jumpman logo on the tongue and heel, a similar White/Red version, and a sick tonal red suede colorway that immediately alludes to a ‘Raging Bull’ theme. With the Gold label on two of the three seen here, are these a special gift to Melo from Jordan Brand as a congratulatory gesture for his Olympic achievements? If you recall, Jordan Brand hit him with a similar White/Red/Gold PE for his ’08 Olympic efforts, only that version featured a Laser-etched upper. But with rumors regarding Dwyane Wade’s future with Jordan Brand swirling about, the Jumpman celebrates its longest tenured signature star with a new special edition colorup that imagines him soundly shattering New York’s championship drought. The Jordan Flight 45 High Max not only adds full-length Max Air cushioning to this veteran silhouette, but also Melo’s mega-sized mug on the inner tongue to finish off the Knicks palette with a caricature of the city’s biggest basketall icon. Even the NBA’s top stars know that keeping one’s gear as fresh as possible is a must. Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Kevin Love, and Chris Bosh have teamed up with “fresh” provider Foot Locker for a hilarious ad campaign dubbed Foot Locker #Approved; in these videos, Melo employs the services of four body doubles, Chris Bosh inquires about Kevin Love’s blow-up yacht, and Russell sees the many layers of his teammate James Harden – all for the sake of keeping their kicks and gear as crisp as possible. This Sunday, the Jordan Brand label brought home two more Gold Medals thanks to two of its marquee athletes – Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. This latest apparel offering from Jordan Brand juxtaposes the ’12 members with ’92′s Michael Jordan as all three athletes are wearing their respective kicks – MJ in the Air Jordan VII ‘Olympic’ and CP3/Melo wearing the Jordan Super Fly ‘Olympic’. The shirt design is a throwback to the original Dream Team t-shirt, as Melo and Jordan hold up the Jordan global logo and CP3 drapes the American flag on his back. One glaring omission? Jordan Brand athlete Dwyane Wade, who spent the summer rehab-ing an injury. So even thought the ’12 team brought home Gold, the debate continues is the 2012 team better than the 1992 Dream Team? The Olympics are all business, but if you overpowered your opponent so emphatically like Team USA did Tunisia, you deserve a little break. After defeating Tunisia by a Dream Team-like margin of 47 points, the members of Team USA spent a night out in London – specifically the Funky Buddha venue in Mayfair. All were donned in Nike USA gear from head to toe, with guys like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, and James Harden wearing some notable kicks; LeBron was clad in the Trainer 1 Max 360 Breathe, Melo rocked the Blazer Mid ‘USA’, KD rocked the Volt/Black Flyknit Trainers, and Harden brought some Stateside sneaker flavor by wearing the Gym Green Foamposites.
