unkle sb dunk Classics Revisited: Nike SB Dunk High UNKLE (2004)

NIKE SB DUNK HIGH 2004 WEEK

Before the string of ‘Think Pink’ basketball kicks, the Aunt Pearls, or even the Polarized Pink Foamposites, these sick 2004 SB Dunk Highs made Pink a popular shade to rock on-feet. Of course, these aren’t just pink – these feature special artwork by NYC graffiti legend Futura, and are a collaborative release with U.N.K.L.E. of the MOWAX label based in the UK. No other SB Dunk features artwork as neck-breaking as this, and thanks to the Pink/Black/White colorway, the UNKLE SB Dunks might be the definitve SB Dunk of that area – crazy colorway, inspired by art, and unfortunately, extremely limited, Kick off Classics Revisited: Nike SB Dunk High 2004 Week with perhaps one of the best to ever release, and let us know if you own a pair!

halloween release nike air force 1 2006 Classics Revisited: Nike Air Force 1 Low Halloween (2006)

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW WEEK PART 3

Playing off yesterday’s feature of the ‘Scarface’ Air Force 1 Low is the ‘Halloween’ colorway that followed just a few months after that release. Halloween-inspired kicks have been a long-standing tradition for the Nike Air Force 1 Low, but this colorway stands out with the similar two-toned color-blocking in patent leather and the ghoulish logo placed on the heel, tongue, and insole. Like yesterday’s release Scarface release, these don’t command nearly as much some of the heavy-hitting Air Force 1s we’ve previously featured on Classics Revisited, but of the Halloween releases, these might be the best! Check out a gallery below and stay tuned for a new chapter of Classics Revisited next week.

Classics Revisited: Nike Air Force 1 Low “Scarface” (2006)

scarface nike sneakers Classics Revisited: Nike Air Force 1 Low Scarface (2006)

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW WEEK PART 3

Every hip-hop artist’s favorite gangster’s favorite movie is Scarface, starring Al Pacino, an M16 assault rifle, and a whole lot of confectioners sugar. In 2006, Nike Sportswear released one of the most polarizing Air Force 1 colorways with the ‘Scarface’ tribute, which featured the most alternative color-blocking ever done on a sneaker. Basically the sneaker was chopped in half with a White/Black colorway, going entirely white on the lateral sides and black on the medial (even the tongue label) to match the iconic Scarface movie poster. While these don’t have the massive drawing power as some of the earlier Air Force 1s featured on Classics Revisited, these deserve a spotlight for its unique design! More of the Scarface after the jump, so take a look and let us know what you think.

Classics Revisited: Nike Air Force 1 Low “Cocoa Snake” (2001)

cocoa snake air force 1 Classics Revisited: Nike Air Force 1 Low Cocoa Snake (2001)

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW WEEK PART 3

The recent unveiling of the ‘Snakeskin’ colorway of the newly build Nike Air Force 1 Low Downtown reminds us of another AF1 banger – this Premium-grade build dubbed the ‘Cocoa’. The Air Force 1 re-issues were traditionally build with tougher materials like leather and suede until this amazing Japan-exclusive surfaced, with the cocoa brown colored luxurious material being matches with a basic White/Black colorway. In 2005, an unofficial ‘Retro’ of the Air Force 1 Low ‘Cocoa’ emerged, but with a different snakeskin pattern and a reversed Black/White upper. Forgot about these heaters? That’s what Classics Revisited is for! More of the Cocoa Snake after the jump.

Classics Revisited: Mr. Cartoon x Nike Air Force 1 Low (2005)

2005 mr cartoon nike air force 1 los angeles Classics Revisited: Mr. Cartoon x Nike Air Force 1 Low (2005)

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW WEEK PART 3

Very few individuals can boast the levels of success achieved by Mark “Cartoon” Machado. Mr. Cartoon, recognized for his intense graffiti and impeccable fine-line style of tattoo artwork, went from air-brushing t-shirts and cars at the age of 12 to being one of the most sought-after tattoo artists in the industry. The man is representative of all-things Mexican-American culture in Los Angeles, staying true to his heritage while forging a distinct, award-winning style of artistry that’s been sought after by the hardest of thugs to the most well-respected of international brands.

Mr. Cartoon worked with Nike in the early-mid 2000′s, completing a series of Air Force 1 designs that paid homage to the city of Los Angeles; each of his designs featured the fine, pinstripe-style brush strokes, but one pair in particular that stands out above the rest is the LA Dodgers-inspired “Blue Tattoo” release. It featured navy and grey with spider-web detailing on the toe-box, a graffiti-style LA embroidery on the heel, and several other graphics that made these one of the most sought after Air Force 1s of all-time (the insanely-rare Hyperstrike version commands nearly $2,000 in the open market). In addition, this design was later revived in 2009 as part of LIVESTRONG capsule of these highly-regarded Air Force 1s. Continue on for a look at this legendary Air Force 1 Low for tonight’s Classics Revisited and stay tuned for more AF1s on the following days!

cali nike sb dunk low 2004 Classics Revisited: Nike SB Dunk Low Cali (2004)

NIKE SB DUNK LOW 2004 WEEK

Closing out this stretch of 2004 SB Dunk Lows is the limited July ’04 release known as ‘Cali’. It was designed after the state flag of California, with the White/Brown/Green/Red colorway and the signature red star below the uppermost lace eyelets of the shoes. Paul Rodriguez, a California native, loved the shoes so much that the he recycled the colorway for a P-Rod 2.5 release in early 2011. The Cali SB Dunks were rumored to be limited to 444 units, but that figure has been disputed without confirmation. In addition to the Cali and the four other SB Dunks we’ve reviewed this week, there were plenty of other releases that deserve note, like the Medicom Toy collaboration, the two Carharrt models, the three Hemps, and many more! Check out tonight’s Classics Revisited and stay tuned for an all-new topic next week.

304292 112 Classics Revisited: Nike SB Dunk Low Shanghai (2004)

NIKE SB DUNK LOW 2004 WEEK

With the buzz around Nike SB Dunks firmly established after the legendary first season, Nike tapped some other in-house sources to dictate some fresh colorways of the upcoming line. This November 2004 release was designed for Chinese rap artist Deng Ke Chow, using the color red for good luck and a regal gold on the Swoosh. The tongue features Chinese characters that translates to ‘Shanghai’, while the debossed texture on the suede represents historic architecture of temples. The Nike SB Dunk Low “Shanghai” was followed up by a Part 2 in 2005. Are you a proud owner of tonight’s pair of Classics Revisited?
